Question: Just who was Number 1?
Answer: It's even more obvious than you think, you know who number 1 is in the very first episode. When 2 replies to the question "who is #1?" Change the way he answers from you are number one (in the monotone or accented answer to, "You are, number 6. The comma gives you the answer. #6 is #1. It's the tone of the answer.
Answer: The Prisoner was first shown on British television in 1967. I did not watch it then, but the series was was repeated on UK television in 1977, at which point it became a massive cult. Certainly, I was hooked. Well, ten minutes after I started watching The Prisoner, I was 110% certain as to who Number 1 was. In my opinion, the identity of Number 1 was so utterly, glaringly obvious that I could not understand how anybody could even ask such a question. I thought there was only one candidate for the identity of Number 1, and it was so plainly visible that nobody could even vaguely consider it to be anybody else. So, who did I think Number 1 was? you all ask. My answer? Himself! Patrick McGoohan (or rather, the character Patrick McGoohan played in The Prisoner) was Number 1. I was proved right. In Fall Out, the seventeenth and final episode, "The Prisoner" gets to meet "Number 1." Now this is a real "blink and you'll miss it" moment, but Number 1 has his face covered. The Prisoner pulls off the covering to see a mask, he pulls off the mask, to see himself! The Patrick McGoohan in Number 1's costume laughs in The Prisoner's face and runs away. Unfortunately, I don't know why Patrick McGoohan should be both The Prisoner and Number 1. I don't think anybody does.
Question: How come, as mentioned in episode two, James was unwilling to acknowledge his involvement in the Civil War with others, even lying about not having served when asked and turning away from fellow veterans who recognized him?
Answer: Tim McGraw (the actor of James) put it best. McGraw has explained that James has PTSD from serving in the war. It doesn't help that, per McGraw, James was forced to serve and did not actually want to participate in it. This would make the war not only a shameful memory for him, but a painful one at that. Especially during a time when therapy was not a thing and people, particularly the male head of the households, were taught to hold feelings like that back. In his suffering brain, he thought it was best to try to put that memory aside rather than openly talk about it.
Question: What's the name of the "theme" song, the one played at the beginning of every episode?
Answer: It is a version of "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley.
Question: What is the name of the theme song of Roswell? I think it's something called "Here I am", or "I am what I am".
Answer: It's called "Here With Me", performed by Dido. It can be found on her album "No Angel".
Question: Of the main cast, do any of the actresses claim to be same-sex orientated in real life? Which ones? I've Googled this, and only found speculations rather than actual answers.
Answer: I read Diva magazine which is a British lesbian magazine - Leisha Hailey and Daniela Sea have both given interviews and have stated without question that they are lesbians. Despite much lesbian disappointment Katherine Moennig will not confirm her sexuality, stating it is personal and not an issue. Although it was once stated by an american publiction Jennifer Beals 'outed her', once published this was denyed by Jennifer stating they had twisted her words. Jennifer Beals has been married twice, Laurel Holloway according to her official website is married, but has stated in many interview since the L Word began that she is bisexual. Mia Krishner is most confusing of all, various interviews she has claimed different things - bisexuality, heterosexuality and bicuriousity...but notably takes lesbian/bisexual/transgender roles. Pam Grier, Rachel Shelly and Erin Daniels have categorically stated they are heterosexual. Janina Gavanker has never made any comment about her sexuality, although all speculations made on Google are that she is straight. Information on Rose Rollins is sparse and wholly speculation. I can add though that Shane's stalker in season one called Lacey is played by Tammy Lyn Micheals, who according to both parties' official websites has been 'married' to Melissa Etheridge since 2003, they also have children.
Question: Why does Giovanni Sforza not prove he is not impotent? Was he in fact not able to perform in front of others or find the woman undesirable? I know historically he agreed to the annulment; but why? Was this scene historically accurate?
Chosen answer: The Borgias arranged Lucrezia's marriage to Giovanni Sforza for their own political gain. When Giovanni was no longer considered useful to them politically, they sought to end the marriage. Eventually, Giovanni reluctantly agreed to admit to impotence in exchange for keeping Lucrezia's dowry, which normally would have reverted back to the family in the event of an annulment. Divorce was rare at that time, and being unable to consummate a marriage was one grounds for an annulment. In the series, when the Borgias convene the College of Cardinals to have Giovanni prove his potency by performing with two overweight and unattractive prostitutes, he refuses because he is humiliated. The historical facts are mostly accurate, though the part about the prostitutes is probably fiction.
Question: When Sam reads someone their rights why does someone else tell him he's saying it wrong? This happens few times in different episodes.
Question: On Law & Order: SVU the character Alex Cabot had to enter the witness protection program. How did they bring her back for the show Conviction?
Answer: It was never explained on the show. The series only lasted 13 episodes so they didn't have time to go into how or why Cabot returned.
Question: In the final few scenes of this story, DS Beck has abducted David Harvey and has taken him to the top of a tower block in order that they can both leap off. Fitz and Penhaligon race to the top to try to talk Beck out of it. In the original broadcast on UK TV (1995), Fitz speaks with Beck at length on the rooftop (as in the novel), but in all repeats and subsequent VHS/DVD releases this scene is missing and has never been seen since. Now, Fitz only manages to reach the rooftop as Penhaligon is looking over the side after Beck has jumped pulling Harvey with him. Is this scene un-cut on the Region 1 DVD of this show? (I don't want to buy it just to find the same cut version again). (02:25:00 - 02:26:45)
Chosen answer: I still own on tape the 1995 UK TV broadcast version of that episode, and it definitely doesn't have Fitz talking Beck out of jumping. It is definitely in the novel adaptation of 'Brotherly Love', but as far as I know never made it to the final cut of the TV version. I'm presuming therefore the scene wouldn't exist on the Region 1 DVD. The only TV version I have ever known to be of that scene is Fitz just turning up after Beck has jumped and then comforting Penhaligon. A few scenes did get lost from the original broadcast to the subsequent DVD/VHS releases though, but as far as I'm aware that was never one of them.
Question: At the end of the episode, where Melinda helps that lady (who meets the guy who got her dead fiance's heart), what was the man at the end of the episode (who was laughing and seemed to be a spirit) supposed to be about?
Answer: This "spirit" appears in several episodes throughout the rest of the season including the season finale. He's a "bad spirit" that is intent on keeping souls trapped on Earth. With the death of Andrea (her business partner) he wanted to make a deal with Melinda, to give him HER soul to release everyone else including Andrea to cross over.
Question: Why does Poirot claim to be an American citizen when being interrogated by customs?
Answer: He definitely says "Belgian", but the subtitles get it wrong and show him saying "American."
Answer: It sounds a bit like "American", but listen very closely and you will hear "Belgian".
Winterfell - S8-E1
Question: As Qyburn gives a crossbow to Bronn to kill Cersei's two brothers, he says "The queen's brothers made promises to you and broke them. Her Grace wants to rectify their mistake." I remember Jaime promised Bronn a castle or more, but I don't know what Tyrion had promised to Bronn and broke it. From I can tell, it was Bronn who turned his back to Tyrion. So, what was Tyrion's promise to Bronn that wasn't kept?
Answer: I believe Bronn had wanted Tyrion to give him High Garden, the Terrell's castle - which Tyrion was later unable to provide him. Jamie also offered Bronn a castle and also gave him a large amount of gold, but Bronn specifically wanted High Garden and would not consider any other as being grand enough. At the end of the series, High Garden has been given to Bronn.
Episode #1.8 - S1-E8
Question: As we know Gene died in 1953 so how did he save Alex in 1981 from the car bomb, he was already dead and in the purgatory world?
Answer: Have you finished watching the entire series? I don't think it's fair to answer this for someone who hasn't.
Question: As his wife, why does Jessica address Brody by his last name instead of his first name?
Chosen answer: Everyone else calls him Brody or Sgt. Brody, and it probably became habit to her.
Can't get the source but I read that even the Producer responded to that. Stating that it was common practise for a military wife living in a military complex as everybody refers to their husband by their last name.
Question: Why and how is Laura Palmer killed?
Chosen answer: Laura was killed by her father Leland, whilst he was apparently possessed by the spirit BOB. The exact manner of her murder is not clear, as several injuries found during her autopsy we later discover occurred during a separate incident before her murder. We know that she was beaten and killed in an abandoned train car, and her body was then wrapped in plastic and thrown in the river.
Question: Why doesn't Jarod just go to the FBI or police and say, "Hey, these people kidnapped me as a child and are trying to rekidnap me, please arrest them". After what he's been through I cannot think of any reason for him to protect them. Also, why, when he's pretending to be a doctor or some government official, does he run when Parker or Sam or whomever come to get him? If he's in a hospital do you really think they could just drag him out at gunpoint unnoticed? It can't be that The Centre had infiltrated all of these government agencies to such a high level, or how could Jarod continually pretend to be FBI, ATF, Justice Department and military personnel without being caught? Many times he actually worked in the offices of these organizations.
Chosen answer: Well, there ARE people at the Center he wants to protect: Ms. Parker, Sydney, and Broots. Plus, people with influence like the Triumvirate has could stymie any investigation. And telling the FBI would necessitate revealing who and what he is to them, and he might be afraid that the Federal government would treat him as a guinea pig/resource like the Center did. Presumably, when the Center sends out Sweepers, they're "disguised" as law enforcement officials, with official-enough looking credentials to fool the casual onlooker. And just because the Center might have influence in government doesn't mean they necessarily have actual agents present everywhere. Perhaps Jared, in his Pretends, has made sure he's "under the radar." Besides, Jared doesn't KNOW how far up Center influence goes - after all, he wouldn't still be searching for "the truth" if he knew everything about the Center and its influence, would he?
Question: Can't remember which episode, but when Celeste is put back into her body, she has a French accent and speaks French, but in previous episodes in the flashbacks she had a normal accent. Am I missing something?
Answer: She was in a different body.
Question: When talking to Alston, the police captain said he sought out a black officer who hasn't made rank because he's "got no rabbi" and therefore is likely "on the outside enough to be trusted"- what does the phrase "got no rabbi" mean?
Answer: "Rabbi" is old police slang for a superior, experienced officer who mentors a younger officer. "Got no rabbi" in this context is saying Alston hasn't been on the job long enough to have been fully taken into the fold by the other officers, and would thus be a good choice for the Captain's plan of recruiting an un-corrupted officer.
Question: In this episode, several teams of human "harvesters" wander through a greenhouse filled with vegetable-hybrid zombies, searching for specific seed pods that might cure the zombie virus. None of the harvesters survive very long inside the greenhouse, even though the translucent plastic/fiberglass greenhouse walls are never more than a few steps away. In fact, the prized "Batch 47" is discovered just feet away from the translucent wall. Why couldn't the harvesters escape from the zombies by simply charging straight through the flimsy greenhouse walls? Or, even better, why didn't they just tear out the flimsy walls from the outside and search for Batch 47 from around the perimeter? I mean, it's just a greenhouse, not Fort Knox.
Answer: When the plant zombies would attack they would wrap people with the vines and hold them, so they couldn't escape.
Chosen answer: We were never told. In the series finale [Spoiler alert] Number 6 demands an answer to that question, only to be shown his own reflection.
