La Confidential (1997)

Question: There may not be an explanation to this, but did Exley know what the DA and Chief were talking about in the end when he is being interrogated and they ask him why he is smiling. When he answers and says "A Hero?", I presumed he was simply thinking like they did and that when those that were interrogating left the room, he overheard a bit of their conversation and just put two and two together. The reason I ask, was there any evidence he was able to hear them (like the door was slightly open or somehow he knew how to hear them even in the interrogation room).

Lummie

Answer: He was always thinking ahead, after the shootout, he predicated what the fallout would be and how to cover it up. Saying, "A Hero" was his way of answering the question of what knew what they needed to do it.

Mr. Monk Gets Drunk - S4-E5

Stupidity: It makes no sense why the staff or the guests would serve the wine to Natalie from where the dead body was being stored. The guests and staff go about cleaning up after he died to avoid any trace of him ever coming to the winery including putting his body in a large wine crate. Yet Natalie makes the discovery that the weird smell (of aftershave) from the wine which leads to the police discovering the body. There is no reason to serve her that wine. It was a vineyard after all - they had plenty of wine and as the staff was in on it, they could have made that crate inaccessible to serve. (00:18:35 - 00:40:04)

Suggested correction: The guests and staff involved had nothing to do with which wine was being served. Sylvia was just a hostesses and Ricardo was just a waiter. They happened to dump the body in a cask of the new wine which was being taste tested. The wine expert, bartender, and other waiters weren't involved and didn't know there was a dead body in the cask.

After he connects the wire the timer countdown changes from 0:03 to 0:43 and the loop of Sid saying "I already thought of that, faster." Barnes immediately comments its not working, before seeing it countdown again to 0:03 and resetting to 0:43, now commenting it's working. The fact that the timer reset the first time, it seems strange he wouldn't comment the timer didn't work the first time. There is a strong likelihood this was done to cover up not having a shot to insert of the timer continuing to count down.

The family only finds out about the rocket after finding Krusty's letter/invitation and the fact that she was on the list there would be no reason why she wouldn't have been informed of this. It was still New Year's Day so if it had been by mail then it would have to arrive before the New Year so as to make the plan work, being as it was a public holiday and no mail would be delivered. Therefore it would have to be delivered personally or someone would need to contact her. There were also many well known celebrities and figures ready to board the rocket. I can't imagine they were all home in time to gather their mail and were all somehow contacted, yet Lisa was simply walking around town and at church and they couldn't find her? Continuity mistake: After Banderas loses his rifle in the taxi, Stallone stops the car and then sees the cops. As he is reversing the car, it shows the front end of the car and both of them looking behind. You can see, however, two problems. Firstly the large cracks and bullet mark on the barrier window in the cab are completely gone and there seems to be large damage and cracking to the back window. When the shot changes to Banderas looking out the back, there are just a few drops of rain on the back window, and it's easy to see through. You can also see the cracks and bullet mark on the barrier window return.

Lummie

Factual error: Throughout the entire scene in the police car chase, the slushy on the windscreen seems to have a host of problems. For starters the slushy is covered completely over the windscreen. Franco was hit and the slushy landed on the windscreen. Unless it was poured evenly down, it would spread out from where it hit. It could cover a good area of the screen, just not the entire screen. The next problem is the density of it. Certainly it could cover much of the screen but it's primarily ice and liquid. The substance would slide down the windshield and dry up. The fact they are driving so fast, swerving around etc., would mean the substance wouldn't likely stay stuck to the windows. Even if it had a good deal of time to stick, it would be near impossible. Finally the windshield in many shots appears to be in blotches like a painting. Again, the substance is not paint, it was spilt on and was only one substance. The substance might be more concentrated where it hit, but it would be less concentrated in other locations.

However when Alison and Cynthia go to talk with Wheeler's mother about the old kidnapping case (before the two were rescued) the mother states that she has never been kidnapped and had even saw her yesterday. While the mother might not have been aware of her daughter's kidnapping, wouldn't she have been a little perplexed to have found her daughter had been kidnapped and tortured during days she had seen her. While Monk is unaware of deleting the files on the computer, why would there be a one button push to delete all the files on working cases? Even to not have some sort of password to delete files is questionable, as most systems in offices and workplaces will only have functions like this for administrators, executives etc. We find out that all the files are backed up and are slowly being recovered. Deliberate mistake: Hank only discovers the tattoo on the back of his head after having his hair shaved off. There is no way, however, he wouldn't have noticed it before this. The tattoo artist had to shave hair off the back of his head before putting on the tattoo. While he might have not realised right away, the pain the following day and the fact that he would have noticed a large part of his hair missing would make it unavoidable.

Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Factual error: While the police are investigating the murder at the start of the episode, the police make numerous mistakes with the crime scene. First there is no sheet over the body and/or tent to cover the body. Being they are on a beach it would make sense to cover the body from any debris or sand disturbing the body. Second, the sun is shining brightly would not help with preserving the body for the coroner. Finally why have the police only cordoned off a small area around the body. Being a crime scene and potential evidence could be found it makes little sense why they wouldn't cordon off the beach or most of it from the public.

Mutual of Omabwah - S9-E8

Deliberate mistake: Why wouldn't Hank just use a credit card to cover the outstanding payment he owes on his insurace? It was established in the episode Rich Hank, Poor Hank that Hank has an emergency credit card and could easily use that and would be covered immediately. His panic over not having insurance would outweigh any problems he might have with using his credit card and the fact that he is dealing with an insurance company there is no conceivable way they wouldn't accept a credit card or ask if he has a credit card to cover the payment. The mistake seems to be deliberate as it sets the story up for Hank going somewhat over the edge with protecting the house.

Question: Why does Andy go to Norton (warden) about the information that Tommy provides him rather than see his lawyer? While he may not think Norton would go to the lengths he did to keep him there, what advantage would seeing the warden before a lawyer do?

Lummie

Chosen answer: You're right--it's a character mistake, but an explainable one. Andy probably figured that because he was doing so much work for the Warden (accounting for dirty money, kickbacks, tax compliance, etc.), that the Warden would use his power to get Andy a new trial. Sounds like a fair trade--Andy makes sure there's no way for anyone to disover the illegality of the laundering, and the Warden gets Andy pardoned. What Andy didn't realize, however, was that the Warden didn't want to risk having Andy, after his pardon & release, reveal the details of the illegal schemes that were going on. So to make sure Andy got the message that he was going nowhere and would reveal nothing, he was give the two months in solitary confinement (as you know from the movie, of course).

Matty Blast

Answer: It was the 1940's to 1960's. Prisoners did not have the same rights and access to the legal system as they do today. Look what happened when a new prisoner cried...In those days all they had to say was "he got out of line and we had to beat him and he died." Prisons were not scrutinized - they were there to hold "bad" people and no one really cared what went on in them.

Mr. Monk Gets Fired - S3-E4

Question: I have been trying to figure out how the death in the episode was linked to the suspect. Now I understand that being she was the housekeeper and that identifying the body would identify who she was and make him an likely suspect (he knew her, the secret bank accounts etc.) but how would that be enough to arrest him or even prosecute him for that matter? The body was not located on his property, there was no physical evidence that he killed her, he never made any incriminating statements and so on. The case seems far too circumstantial to be able to arrest him.

Lummie

Chosen answer: He'd also murdered the wig shop owner, though, and the implication was that SFPD was gathering more evidence there. Monk puts together a pretty impressive batch of circumstantial evidence for both murders, and that's enough for Stottlemeyer to arrest Harley. Many murder cases go to trial with less, and successfully convict despite a lack of absolute proof, which is, sadly, far less abundant in real life than it is on TV. Lacking concrete proof, guilt must then be established "beyond a reasonable doubt."

Plot hole: When Witwer invites Burgess over to discuss the problem of Anne Lively's murder, he gives Burgess Anderton's gun saying "We recovered that from Leo Crowe's hotel room", yet making no mention of why he is showing the gun. It makes no sense why he would bring the gun or give the gun to Burgess seeing as he would have to remove it from the evidence of the murder. There was no important evidence regarding the gun he would need to show Burgess and only seems to serve the plot (as Burgess uses the gun to kill Witwer at the end and the blame goes on Anderton). What complicates the matter further is that Witwer knows someone in the Pre-crime division was behind Anne Lively's murder, so to give a person who could very likely be involved in the murder a loaded gun seems a little risky and unnecessary. Question: Two questions I had about the cellar at the end. What was the point of Donnie and his friends going to the cellar towards the end? Was he looking for something in particular? And the second thing was why were those bullies from school there at the same time? Did it have something to do with the story told in the film about how kids would try to steal stuff from Sparrow's house?

Lummie

Chosen answer: By going to the cellar, Donnie has continued to set in motion the events that will return the engine to his proper time. He burns down Jim Cunningham's house, which causes Kitty to be at his trial, which causes Donnie's Mom to take the kids to California, which causes her to take the earlier flight causing the engine to fall back through the portal to the normal universe. In much the same way, his Mom had to leave so they could have a party, which is where Donnie and Gretchen make/fall in love. He takes her to that house to talk to Roberta Sparrow, and it is when he notices the cellar door that the events unfold to motivate him. If Donnie lives, Gretchen dies. He must sacrifice himself to return time to normal so that Gretchen will live. The boys were taking stuff from Roberta's house as referenced earlier in the movie, but played a key role in the events unfolding correctly.

Question: Something I never quite figured out when watching the film was what the shields in the corridor were for? The shields that separate Darth Maul from Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan during the fight. There are dozens of them and all they seem to do is benefit the fight in the film without having any real purpose.

Lummie

Chosen answer: According to "Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I" by Kristin Lund, they are "laser doors which lock into position in response to potentially lethal power outputs that occur intermittently during plasma activation process" (the fight takes place in a plasma energy processing plant). There are six laser doors in deference to an ancient Naboo legend in which Chaos is held back by six inpentrable gates. As you say though, they're really just a plot device to add dramatic tension to the duel!

Most of the footage that was deleted was primarily the unpopular Jar Jar Binks character, with his presence in the new edit kept to a minimum. Some believed the phantom editor was director Kevin Smith, who is a huge fan of Star Wars. After the popularity of the new edit, another edit was found nicknamed "The East Coast version" with its largest change being Jar Jar Binks' and the Gungans' speech, which was changed to scrambled alien dialogue with made up English subtitles for when they spoke.

Question: Something I wasn't quite sure of was about Padme's death. Now I know throughout the film Anakin senses that she will die and must rescue her, but was her death a certainty or more a result of Anakin's turn to the dark side? I ask because I know the Jedi can sense the future, and was wondering if it was meant to be a vision of what was going to happen with his descent to the dark side.

Lummie

Chosen answer: The future is not always set in place, according to Yoda, especially when clouded by the Dark Side. As Anakin's fears for Padme increase the more dependent he becomes on the Dark Side to try and stop the events of Padme's death in his dreams. What he didn't see was that he was indirectly responsible for causing her own death by turning to the Dark Side. Although Padme could have survived injuries caused by Anakin's force grip, her will to die rather than live without him is what caused her death.

General questions

Could someone explain how they achieve shots in which two points of objects are at different positions from each other but are both in focus. I have noticed it in a few films and most recently Million Dollar Baby. In one shot I recall Clint Eastwood is standing in his office and Hilary Swank is training in the gym below him. Eastwood is in the right of frame and the left part of the frame shows Hilary Swank and both are in focus despite the large distance between each other. Is it some special camera filter they use? I noticed a little out of focus blur around the middle of the frame. If not how exactly do they achieve the effect?

Chosen answer: Orson Wells first acheived this in "Citizen Kane." It's a combination of position between the lens and actors and the lens focus. There is no exact formula on how to acheive it; mostly trail and error. For example, have the lens tighten in on one actor and have the other move around until they come into focus.

General questions

Why exactly are film ratings in the US voluntary instead of legally required like in many other countries. I know that in countries like England, Australia and NZ they are legally required for any film/video that will be shown, sold or rented in that country. Also why do studios submit their films for ratings if they are voluntary? I find it peculiar especially for controversial films like Showgirls for example, as the NC-17 rating kills any chance the film has at the box office when they could just leave it unrated and avoid all the stigma it attaches to itself?

Lummie

Chosen answer: For one thing, the US is a place in which the sociopolitical climate has always favored liberty over governmental control. Certain issues - drivers' licensing, for instance - obviously require intervention; movie rating is not seen as one of them. This is probably also compounded by the fact that the MPAA and similar bodies are hugely wealthy and powerful, and can afford a lot of lobbying to prevent any such legislative requirement from coming to pass. As far as actually getting the voluntary ratings - it's nearly suicide to NOT get one. The number of films that have generated any significant financial success without being MPAA rated is effectively zero. It seems as though the bulk of the movie-watching public WANTS to be protected from certain levels of 'indecency.'

Brush With Greatness - S2-E18

Question: Can someone explain why Marge frowns when the art teacher is explaining The Lombardo theory, the one where he says "And here we have an adorable little bunny rabbit. It's just that easy." Why Marge seeming upset with what he just said? The reaction shot is a couple of seconds so I am assuming there is something that I must have missed.

Lummie

Chosen answer: I think it's because the art teacher is making it seem so easy when in fact it is really quite difficult. I think the line he says is something like "Yes, even a rhombus can create an adorible little bunny rabbit" - it's obviously much harder than just putting shapes together. It could also be an inside joke by the animators maybe - Marge could be frowning because it's not 'that easy' to create an animation (which she is, obviously) and could just be a joke. Knowing the Simpsons, this wouldn't be too far-fetched.

Deliberate mistake: When Susan falls through the floorboards of Mike's house she uses the nearby towel to try and get the dog Bongo to help her. If you watch at the different angles the position of the dog keeps changing. When it shows Susan from behind the dog is almost right next to her face and stepping on the towel. In the shots from in front of Susan the dog is nowhere near the towel or even in the shot. General questions

Is there any reason why actors/actresses don't have credits in some films when they generally have a small role or cameo. I have seen this seems to especially apply to animated film where top stars are left uncredited. An example is Beavis & Butthead do America in which Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and Greg Kinnear were all uncredited despite having large roles. Has this got anything to do with the SAG? I know SAG has tight rules about actors who receive credits are also supposed to be given certain benefits under union rules.

Lummie

Chosen answer: Sometimes previous commitments make them unable to have their name attached to something. Examples include Michael Jackson and Dustin Hoffman, who both appeared uncredited in The Simpsons (or rather, credited under false names), for the simple reason that they were unable, due to contract obligations, to have their name appear in conjuction with it.

General questions

Can someone explain why special effects (namely digital ones) are so expensive in many movies? It seems many films have monstrous budgets due to their large number of special effects.

Lummie

Chosen answer: Digital special effects are expensive for a number of reasons; to get good believeable CG (computer graphics) they need to use a very good, fast, computer and a fair amount of software - each computer could cost about $10k or more. Multiply that by the 40-50 odd computers that a SFX company may have and that's a LOT of money, so the SFX company needs to make that investment back, plus there are the 50 odd staff needed to actually use the computers, and they tend to be highly trained in a particular area or program, and so they tend to charge a fair amount of money per hour. Plus you would probably find that big movie studios pay the SFX companies incentives to work on their next big budget film as opposed to a smaller film.

When the train hit the car, Bobby puts the cover right in his pocket and it would have had a bit of the stick left in it, as he had to screw it on. Continuity mistake: When Peggy & Hank are talking about Tammy whilst in bed, there is an outside shot of the house with light streaming out of one of the windows (the master bedroom). Continuity mistake: When Hank & Peggy are discussing what film to see, Connie & Bobby were to the right of Peggy who is right next to the truck. Luanne Virgin 2.0 - S5-E14

Continuity mistake: As Luanne is becoming a "Born again" virgin, she yells after being dunked in the water. She yells "I'm a Virgin." and there is a shot to the left of two guys in the distance playing Frisbee look behind to their left. The shot sees them from the left meaning they were to Luanne's left. A few shots later Luanne is getting out of the lake and one of the guys who was playing Frisbee comes up to her from her right side and the other guy follows him. There wouldn't have been enough time in the scene for them to get all the way over to the right side of the field and not much reason to either.

Other mistake: After Hank & Peggy pick Bobby up from the airport you can see part of the clouds through the windshield. One of the clouds you can see stays in the exact same spot whilst they are driving along the main road in the back windshield. It is a cloud because of the distinct color. It also couldn't be a sticker as you can see when they park the car at the restaurant there are no marks on the windshield.

Factual error: When Nate goes to see Hank to show the incriminating photos of Bobby watering the lawn you can see Nate's car has orange tinting on his front headlight. Deliberate mistake: Before Bobby takes the final spiritual test, you can see Connie is behind Bobby with her parents. Deliberate mistake: When Dale calls Hank from John Redcorn's trailer, the wooden clock behind Hank (in the Hill's kitchen) has no markings or hands to tell what time it is. This is a mistake as it is the exact same shape and object as it was before this episode and I doubt they replaced the clock with an completely exact object as before. A side note on the mistake is that it may be considered deliberate as the clock in previous episodes is shown frequently in the background and will generally change between shots.

Plot hole: As the guys are checking out the vacant house inside, they are surprised to see it has a pool. However the problem with this is its right next to the driveway in the front of the house, in the open with no fence in front of the driveway so it would provide a clear look through from the alley. As they state they never noticed it in 18 years living there, yet walking up and down the alley it's a bit hard to imagine being that open and they never saw it. Later on the Sheriff is playing the tape back to Hank and the tape says: "(Small Pause) Debbie threatened to tell my wife that we had sexual relations". The tape doesn't match up on a few things. First the second recording takes a quick second before Hank starts talking despite in the first recording he said "Yes, Yes I was angry. Debbie." and no pauses in between these lines. Continuity mistake: Just before Hank uses the varnish on the grandfather clock you can see a quick shot of the power drill. This would have been impossible as we saw, and he told Bobby, he got rid of all his power tools the day before for some corn. Later in the scene when he wakes up the power tool has disappeared for good.

Continuity mistake: After Connie tells Hank she is experiencing her first period, Hank consults the book that Connie's parents left for Hank. There is a close up of the folder from Hank's point of view and you see there are not many pages on each side. You can tell this as you can see the binder's covers below the papers on each side and there is not much material on either side. Continuity mistake: After Hank has been made to take forced leave from work, there is a shot of the house and the background you can tell by the color the sun is rising. Revealing mistake: After Ace loses the guys in the car chase who kidnap Dan Marino, Ace goes hurtling through the park in his car and smashes through a picnic table. Just before his car flips you can see his windshield is smashed but no holes through it. As the car flips over the bush there is a sizeable hole in the windshield on the drivers side. Its likely the hole was for the stunt driver to look through on the flip. Ace in his car has to keep his head out the window to see anything in front of him (because of the smashed windshield). On the flip the guy has his head in the car. Later on the hole has fixed itself. We see this as Ace is driving Dan Marino to the Superbowl the windshield is still smashed but no hole and throughout the film its made very clear Ace doesn't have the money to fix it up at any point. (00:52:05)

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Ace's car flips over you can see the left wheel is elevated over the bush. If you look closely there is a wooden plank there to help the car lift itself over the bush. The other mistake in the shot is that there is no conceivable way the bush would have flipped the car. Unless there was something very solid in front of the bush, the car would have just gone right through the bush. (00:52:05)

Continuity mistake: When Ace is talking to the dog in Roger Pedactors apartment (after his death), he picks up the dog when Einhorn approaches. As he is picking up the dog he places his left hand around the dogs neck. In the next split second shot his left hand is around the dog's body. (00:37:55)

Question: In the UK (Region 2) version of the film, the scene in which Ace pretends to be Hans the dolphin trainer was removed. Can anyone tell me the specific reason why it was removed? Also do any other versions around the world (notably US and Australian versions) remove the scene?

Lummie

Chosen answer: That scene was cut originally by the director Tom Shadyack because the scene did not support the story and thought it slowed the film down. (And the scene was cut from the US version as well.) It was added back later in TV versions of the film. Fan enjoyed the scene so much they asked it be put back in the film version. I know the DVD has it because I own it. It's hilarious!

Question: When the Simpsons go on the TV show to try and explain themselves, what show was this a send up of where the guy speaks really loud? I believe it's a show from Fox News.

Batman Forever (1995)

Question: What is the point of the Riddler stopping Harvey (Two-Face) from killing Bruce Wayne when they are in his mansion? They now know that Bruce Wayne is Batman and their goal all along was to kill Batman. Essentially I can understand they want to torture Bruce by kidnapping Chase, but it seems like a huge risk that they don't really need to take as Batman is very elusive and this was a prime opportunity to take him out.

Lummie

Chosen answer: They are both nuts and extremely arrogant. They are also suffering from "Supervillain Syndrome" wherin the villain will toy with and never kill his nemesis even though it will get him caught/defeated in the end. It's just how comic book villains are.

Grumpy Scot

Also, they specifically say they want him awake, aware and capable of suffering humiliation and shame when they destroy him. Also, since they have a hostage he values very highly, they can be reasonably sure he'll come to them afterwards, Riddler out-and-out says so.

Plot hole: During the beginning moments when the couple go to the top floor, as they are going to the roof they discover a lot of smoke on the penthouse floor which leads them to seeing the charred corpse in the hallway. The only problem is that with the smouldering body wouldn't it have set off the smoke alarm or fire alarm? The building is a very posh apartment block and they are on the penthouse floor making the likelihood something as basic as a fire alarm would be triggered. The killing was more in the heat of the moment and most likely the killer burned the body then and there making the probability of a lot of fire on the floor very high. Even if the woman had been burnt somewhere else and brought back to the floor there is no way the smoke around wouldn't at least have set off the fire alarm or sprinklers.

The following shot of Peggy it goes back to the sun setting. The mistake could be said to be deliberate as the shot was used earlier in the scene and probably used again to save time and money than re-animating the exact same shot.

In the episode "Hall Monitor" when SpongeBob directs all the cars in the wrong direction, you can see a bunch of wrecked cars, and then you hear the recording "My leg..." 2. And in "Boating School" when SpongeBob crashes into the lighthouse you can hear a man moan "My leg..." 3. On "The Chaperone" episode, when all the kids at the prom get hurt during "The Sponge" song you can hear "My leg..." 4. This is the one in "Culture Shock" where Squidward puts on a talent show. When Pearl puts on her performance, and jumps up and down, people start crashing through the air.At this part the "My leg..." sound is heard 5. On "Sleepy Time, when SpongeBob is in Plankton's dream, Plankton says "Peek-a-boo I see you, Zap!", and you hear "My leg..." 6. In the episode "Aarrgh!", a fish walks in the Krusty Krab and says "Whip up those patties Crabs." and something else, and Mr.Krabs throws him out and he says "My leg..." 7. In "Walking Small", when SpongeBob gets out his towel, he fans all the sound out of it.All the fish leave instantly. You can hear the recording "My leg..." 8. On "Karate Choppers", when SpongeBob knocks a guy out thinking he's Sandy he says "My leg..." 9. It was something about that he had to prove that the gun manufacturer designed the gun to made as was the use. Does this mean they had to prove it was going to be used for deadly force because of the fault in the guns? It just sounded strange because they were gun manufacturers so I wasn't too sure why they had to prove that.

Question: In regards to two of the characters, Plankton and Sandy Cheeks. I have seen all the episodes but cannot figure out a few things on them. Sandy - Can someone tell me why Sandy lives under the ocean? I know she is very smart and is a keen scientist but what exactly made her move to the bottom of the sea? She seems to miss Texas a lot and it seems strange she decided to move to the bottom of the ocean. I know it's a cartoon but what's her motive? Plankton - I understand Plankton is always trying to steal the Krabby patty secret formula but has there been a reason exactly for stealing it? Was it to try and run Krabs out of business or use it for his own restaurant?

Lummie

Chosen answer: Plankton has his own restaurant that is a flop. He wants the secret formula so he can be successful and beat Mr. Krabs in business. No reasons have been given for why Sandy moved underwater. Though she is an extreme daredevil personality, so maybe she did it to be different.

Why would they wait to cheer? Was it because they were so stunned at how good he was or insulted by how quick he finished it? It just seems very peculiar.

Lummie

Chosen answer: You're probably closest with the suggestion that they're rather stunned at the sheer speed with which Maximus has carved through the opposition. They'd certainly be used to more of a show, so for Maximus to slay all his challengers in less than a minute would take them aback. If anything, the "Are you not entertained" is closer to the theatrics that they'd really expect to see, which would prompt them into cheering him - up to that point, he's not exactly won their favour, even though he's defeated all comers.

Question: Can someone explain what the guys in white suits wanted with Matt at the end of the film when he was infected (Why would they want to contain him instead of treating him with the antidote?). The other question was with Alice (Milla Jovovich) what exactly were they doing with her and how come nothing happened to her in that hospital. Did the zombies just decide to leave her alone?

Lummie

Chosen answer: Matt was infected with a T-virus from a second-generation Licker with human DNA (drawn from Spence). Umbrella has no other research project like him and believes that he may be useful for the Nemesis research strain (using the T-virus to create directed but monstrous mutations in humans for killing machines). Alice was deemed too great a security risk to release, so they experimented with a modified T-virus on her to create a more powerful soldier - she was under observation at the end. The zombies couldn't get into her room because the door was locked and don't have the problem-solving abilities necessary to open the door, so they went searching for more accessible prey. Much of this is explained more clearly in the sequel.

It then goes to a quick shot of the class and back to her in less than a second. Yet she is now holding the mace steady in her hand, even though you wouldn't be able to stop a mace that soon after swinging it that quickly. The cartoon paper she ripped off has also disappeared. Spirited Away (2001)

Factual error: At the start of the film Chihiro's father slams on the brake to avoid the statue in the road and quickly stops. There are three pedals, meaning that this is a manual transmission car (a pedal e-brake would be positioned differently), but he only puts his foot down on the brake and doesn't touch the clutch. Whilst he would stop, there was not enough time for the car to stop as quickly and as smoothly as it did. The car would also stall out but it doesn't.
