What is the reason for all of the Iodine in the shrimp and if it makes people that sick, why would they put it in there? [Nobody puts iodine in shrimp. It is a naturally occurring substance in shellfish that some people are allergic to.]

In the scene where Taye Diggs is telling the guys at dinner about the course he was taking with his girlfriend (I believe it was tantric love making or something like that), can anyone tell me if what he was talking about is really true?
