The next shot he just has a cigarette in his hand - for the rest of the scene he keeps switching between having nothing to a cigarette to a cigarette and a match book.
Continuity mistake: When Becker comes home he puts a bag on the couch and walks over to the window. When he comes back to the couch the bag has moved.
