Other mistake: During the hold up when Medhurst is sprung from the police van, the breakdown truck used to pull the doors of the van reverses towards the police van twice after releasing the chains off the doors before driving away, and the camera lights are reflected in the side of the white getaway car.
Continuity mistake: When the squad are following Don on the motorbike in their white Ford Cortina they turn outside a shop called "Chelsea Typewriters". In the shots taken inside the car there is a white Riley parked between the red Fiat and silver Datsun, but in exterior shots there is a space where the Riley is parked.
Continuity mistake: The first scene when Steven and Arlene are in the office you can see a major road through the windows behind them. When the camera is on them in alternate shots the vehicles seen on the road in the first shots should been seen when the angle changes but are not.
Continuity mistake: In the final scene, when Regan is mixing a drink while on the phone to Carter, he opens the fridge and pulls a green bottle out and puts it on the worktop. The scene cuts back to Carter, but when it cuts back to Regan the bottle has disappeared and Regan is pulling ice cubes out of an ice bucket that wasn't there before. Also another green bottle on the worktop has moved away from the wall.
Continuity mistake: When Regan arrives at the block of flats to speak to Biggleswade's parents, the squad car parks between a blue Ford Cortina and a white Fiat 128 parked a distance behind. In the next shot from the flats walkway looking down the white Fiat is parked right behind the squad car.
Continuity mistake: In the final scene Regan hails a taxi as it pulls in the taxi is passed by a green Jaguar and a yellow Ford Transit. When the angle changes, these two vehicles should pass by, but they don't.Then when the taxi turns round and drives off, the vehicles in front of it should have been seen in the previous angle but they weren't.
Continuity mistake: In the yard behind the furniture shop when Regan and Carter are nearly crushed by the reversing van they escape by climbing up some old cabinets and then jumping on the van roof. Regan then jumps down on the bonnet before banging on the windscreen and having a go at the driver. Carter has disappeared when he should be visible on the van roof. Then when the Irish man comes out of the shop Carter has reappeared, climbing down from the roof to the bonnet of the van, also the two stunt doubles have darker hair than John Thaw and Dennis Waterman.
Continuity mistake: When the camera is looking out the window of the flat being used for surveillance, Lennie and Tolman drive past the parked Sweeney silver Ford Granada, a red Peugeot, a blue Peugeot estate, an empty space, then a white Hillman Superminx. The camera then changes to inside the car - Lennie and Tolman pass the Granada and the two Peugeots a second time but there is a brown Ford Cortina parked where the white Hillman Superminx was. Lennie and Tolman drive round the block and drive past a second time, you see the brown Cortina, but when Lennie parks the car in the empty space next to the blue Peugeot estate, the white superminx is back where the brown Ford Cortina was.
Other mistake: Early on in this episode Regan is moaning about lawyers earning £30,000 a year and that he himself can just about afford a secondhand car, but later on in this episode he is driving a M registration ford Capri, which would have been brand new when this episode was made.
Continuity mistake: In the pre-titles sequence at the start, as the blue van is driving along following the two men, the shots inside the van show a grey Mercedes parked to the van's right. When the shot changes to outside the van, there is a blue Ford Zodiac parked in front of the Mercedes that wasn't there in the inside shots.
Factual error: The squad are following the stolen lorry when it suddenly reverses across the road, causing the squad to swerve up the kerb, ripping a front wheel off the squad car. Four hours later when the body of the murdered lorry driver is found, Regan and Carter arrive at the murder scene in the same squad car. It would take more than four hours to recover the car and repair that much damage.
Continuity mistake: In the pre-title sequence when De Courcey's Rolls-Royce is being followed by the robbers' orange Porsche, the road starts off as a dual carriage way, then as soon as the Porsche overtakes the Rolls the road changes to a single carriage way, and then to a country lane .
Continuity mistake: At the end of this episode, when one of the robbers drives off in the grey Vauxhall, Carter drives off after him in the security van. But in the following scenes, when the Sweeney are fighting with the rest of the gang, the security van is still parked where it was before Carter drove off in it.
