Correction: The microphone being there was purposeful, the plot of the office is that it's a relatively low budget documentary series about an office. Any and all mistakes where equipment was seen were intentional to underline the possible inexperience of the crew in the TV shows universe.

The Alliance - S1-E4

Corrected entry: As the camera switches back and forth between Jim and Dwight as they discuss their plans to form an alliance, a microphone is seen hanging between the two actors.

Correction: The show is supposed to be a documentary, so any visible filming equipment can be considered proper in-universe.

Knever

Pilot - S1-E1

Corrected entry: In the first episode, Michael and Dwight are in the conference room about to announce the possible downsizing. When Dwight says "I give you permission," you can see outside the conference room on the back wall near the map, a boom and camera man's shadow. (00:11:10)

Correction: You can see the camera crew on purpose. The camera crew there is not a mistake because they are documenting all the people in the office. That's why the characters are having confessions and talking to the camera all the time.

Movieman123

The Alliance - S1-E4

Corrected entry: After Roy catches Jim and Pam too close for his comfort, Jim reveals The Alliance joke. Then we see Dwight with the interview cam, while he has blonde hair. He had his normal hair just after the incident. There would be no reason for him to think that he needs to dye his hair at that point, since he had found out that Jim was messing with him.

Knever

Correction: Dwight had already applied the peroxide. It took time to bleach out.

Correction: After Jim explains himself, Dwight still gets his hair dyed, meaning he still believed that Jim was genuine with him.

Business Ethics - S5-E2

Character mistake: Meredith admits during the ethics seminar that she has been sleeping with Bruce, the HammerMill rep, for discounts on paper/paper supplies for the company, as well as Outback steak coupons, for 6 years. But, Dunder Mifflin did not begin selling Hammer Mill products until 3-2 "The Convention" when Michael got the contract.

Suggested correction: Michael didn't establish the contract with Hammer-mill. Rather, he locked them up as an exclusive supplier. It's unknown if they were already selling the products to Dunder Mifflin alongside Staples and Office Max.

Wrong, Josh says they cannot sell Hammer-mill products as they are exclusive to Staples so therefore they wouldn't have been able to sell there products alongside as mentioned before until Michael made them an exclusive to them solely, Dunder Mifflin. Therefore the original mistake stands true.

Viewing Party - S7-E8

Trivia: Michael says his favorite "Glee" character is "the invalid", referring to Artie Abrams. Artie is played by Kevin McHale. McHale appeared in one episode of "The Office", s04e03 (Launch Party), as the pizza delivery boy that Michael ends up "kidnapping."

E-Mail Surveillance - S2-E9

Question: When Angela is buying the Baby Ruths, most of the other candies are turned backwards (I assume to avoid product placement). But above the Baby Ruth is one with the name facing forward that looks like it's called "Picaroon." Is this a real candy bar that's local to the Scranton area or just completely made up? If it's made up, any inside information about where the name came from or if there's an inside joke or show reference to it?

Bishop73

Answer: In the 2007 episode "Ben Franklin" when Jim is talking to Pam there is a candy bar with a purple wrapper that says "Picar-" I assume picaroon, it's hard to see past Pam. I found this trying to investigate what that candy bar is lol.

Answer: There does not appear to be a real candy bar by that name. The word is real, however. It refers to someone who is a rogue, a scoundrel, a thief, or an otherwise dubious character.
