Tabula Rasa - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: When Sayid, Kate, Sawyer and the others make camp for the night, on their way back from hearing the French woman's transmission, they sit around the fire talking. Sawyer has a cut over his right eye, but in every other close-up of Sawyer the cut is over his left eye. The shots are flipped. (00:03:35)

Exodus (2) - S1-E24

Revealing mistake: After Sawyer jumps into the water to retrieve the rudder, Michael tosses him the rope then shouts, "Tie it around the rudder and we'll pull you in." Three shots later, in Sawyer's close-ups, mountains are visible at the right of the screen, whereas in the previous and following consecutive shots they are surrounded only by water at this point in time. Eggtown - S4-E4

Revealing mistake: Episode 4-4 "Eggtown": When Locke is in the basement hallway, he slams Ben's breakfast tray against the wall. The wall moves like it's thin plywood. Odd since basements are either thick wood or concrete over packed earth.

Grumpy Scot

Do No Harm - S1-E20

Revealing mistake: Jack's left arm is bandaged from Boone's blood transfusion. After the shot of Shannon, as she cries over Boone, Jack sits on the beach in the wideshot and the bandage is on his right arm, but in the following shots it's on his left. Yet another flipped shot. (00:41:35)

Dave - S2-E18

Revealing mistake: In Season 2, Episode 18 - Dave: When Ana Lucia is threatening "Henry Gale" in the hatch cell; every time he moves and his makeshift shirt slips, you can see a line on his right upper arm where they applied make-up. Apparently he's wearing makeup on all the exposed parts of his face and neck to make him look sunburned, exposed to the elements etc. This is not just a normal suntan line, as his shirt wouldn't normally fall down that much out in the open and he's been inside for days now.

House of the Rising Sun - S1-E6

Revealing mistake: After Jack brings some survivors back to the cave, there is a shot of Hurley turning on his CD player to listen to Willie Nelson. In the next shot of Jack, as he fills bottles with water, his large tattoo is on his right upper arm, but normally it is on his left. The shot is flipped. (00:39:40)

One of Them - S2-E14

Revealing mistake: When Sayid and Locke are talking to Henry Gale in the hatch, just as Jack comes in and finds them, the front part of the arrow supposedly piercing Gale's shoulder is at a different angle to the back part. This is visible in a number of shots.

Tabula Rasa - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: After Kate rescues Ray, she pulls out his prosthetic right arm. In the following shots, his upper body is deliberately shown and there is a blatantly apparent outline and very long wide bulge of the actor's right arm, under his shirt and overalls. (00:31:35)

A Tale of Two Cities - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: Season 3, episode 1, "A Tale of Two Cities.": In the scene where Ben/Henry is presenting a breakfast table to Kate, he mentions coffee which we can see is in a French press. Ben/Henry "finishes" the coffee by pushing down on the plunger of the french press, but uses only one finger with barely any pressure. In reality, a french press takes a significant amount of pressure to get the plunger from top to bottom, more than could be generated by just one finger. Additionally, we can see that the mesh-screen component of the French press stays at the top, rather than plunging down, which it should in order to filter out the grounds.

Exodus (2) - S1-E24

Revealing mistake: After Charlie receives a large gash on his forehead, from Danielle's trap, Sayid tries to seal it. When Sayid pours gunpowder in the cut, he leaves a large thick trail beside Charlie's eye and on his cheek, which he does not wipe away. There is a tight close-up of Sayid igniting the gunpowder with the flame. The gunpowder beside his eye and on his cheek should have seared his skin, but it does not. The only severe wound Charlie has later is the closed charred wound on his forehead, and though he does wipe his face back at the cave, the skin on his cheek and beside his eye are fine. (00:51:25)

The End (1) - S6-E17

Revealing mistake: When Desmond moves the rock, Smoke-Locke and Jack fight outside the cave while an earthquake shatters everything. Watch the leaves around and you'll notice that they don't move at all, giving away the camera effect. This also happens later on when Hugo, Ben and Jack are about to fix the cave of light.

Exodus (1) - S1-E23

Revealing mistake: In the scene just after Sawyer is mounting the radar on the mast of the shop, Sayid hands Michael a flare gun. He opens it to show that there is just 1 shot left. If you look closely the flare gun shell has already been fired (notice the center fire pin is indented). (00:34:30)

Special - S1-E14

Revealing mistake: When Locke and Michael are walking along the tree branch to get Walt, there is one instance where Locke's foot appears to be floating in the branch rather than stepping on it. Very bad CGI. (00:35:20)

Deux Ex Machina - S1-E19

Continuity mistake: When Jack speaks to Michael and Jin, as they build the raft, and then when he walks up the beach and inquires about Sawyer's trouble with his head, the backpack that Jack carries on his back is nylon, black/green with white trim. Yet, when Sawyer asks, "Sensitivity to light, that bad?" the backpack is suddenly transformed into solid black leather, of an entirely different style. Then, in following shots it jumps back and forth. (00:16:40)

Season 1 generally

Question: When Claire is pregnant with her baby, her belly looks very realistic. Does anyone know how they make it look so real?

Answer: Using a mold, a realistic pregnancy belly is made of latex (rubber), including the distinct belly button, to suit the proportions of Emilie de Ravin who plays Claire. It is then painted with a special paint/adhesive compound that adheres to the surface and for shots of the actual belly, additional veining and stretch marks are airbrushed on.
