Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: Of all the possible mistakes related to the Robin mask Molly supposedly wears, the one that really could have been avoided was the fact that the camera does not cut away from Burt Ward while he is in the middle of the gesture of turning around and 'ripping away the mask', but only after he's done it, so you can tell nothing came off, nothing moves in his hair, let alone the face itself. Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: Batman tosses the Batarang at Riddler after bursting through the door and yelling "Surrender, you rat." Such is Adam West's physical prowess and the strength he puts in the athletic gesture, that the mere touch of his foot moves the heavy cement block lying on the floor. That or it's made of plastic (same one he picks up later in the scene tossing it at the 'bulletproof glass'). (00:14:30)

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Factual error: The mammoth is filled, according to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldavia, with "used postage stamps from ancient kingdom of Moldavia." Postage stamps are a 19th century invention, not something an 'ancient kingdom' would have used. (00:17:20)

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: After the Garbo joke, the various extras begin to pass out from the gas with multiple inconsistencies between shots. In the shot that follows the joke, the woman with the red and black dress is fainting, but she's back up in the next, in which the policeman goes down, only to be up in the one later, etc. (00:19:35)

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: Elephant-man Riddler is the one man left standing in the room. The problem is, he is standing with one hand on his hip, which becomes a totally different pose at the cut, with the arm chest-high and his finger pointing down. (00:19:55)

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: While Riddler is with the unconscious guests at the Moldavian exhibit, in the basement of the Moldavian Pavilion the Mole Hill gang blow up the ceiling to create an entry to the exhibit, on the floor above. They lean two tall ladders at the side of the hole and climb up. When Riddler makes for an escape Batman follows him down below, and now we can see long metal brackets bolting the ladders to the floor for safety. (00:20:20 - 00:22:00)

Super Grover

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Deliberate mistake: Ignoring that its very unlikely all of Jill St. John's copious red hair would fit under a wig that passes for Robin's hair, it's impossible that it would emerge from under that wig looking as full and perfectly styled as it does when she's in the Batcave.

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Factual error: Nitrous oxide is not flammable. Not to mention, if it were, Riddler would have risked blowing everything up when he shot the gun in the room saturated with it just to give his henchmen the signal.

Fine Feathered Finks (1) - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: At the start, Penguin's henchmen give out booby trapped umbrellas to everyone outside the House of Ali Baba. When they all enter the jewelry store those umbrellas explode with fireworks, gas, confetti, etc, and the stunt wires holding up the umbrellas are visible, at the top of the screen. (00:01:20)

Super Grover

The Catwoman: You dismal bird! You and your submarine, Where has it got us now?
The Penguin: Shut up, you feline floozy.

Trivia: Originally, Batman villain Two-Face was going to appear in this show and was going to be portrayed by Clint Eastwood. Two-Face's backstory wouldn't have him as an attorney who had acid thrown in his face but instead have him as a news anchor who would have a stage light exploding resulting in his injuries and his transformation into a criminal.

Answer: It's wasn't unusual for multiple actors to play one character on this show. The villains on the TV Batman were played by guest stars, not regular cast members. George Sanders, Otto Preminger, and Eli Wallach played the part at various times. They may simply have only wanted to play the part once or twice, or they were later tied up with other projects, making it necessary to cast someone else. Other characters, like Catwoman, were also played by more than one actress.
