Andy and Opie - Bachelors - S3-E4

Revealing mistake: After Andy and Opie choose between chicken and pot roast using a nickle, when Opie gives the nickle back to Andy the window over the sink is missing - the fake window wasn't put up on the set wall for this shot, but when the food burns the window and curtains are up there as usual.

Barney's First Car - S3-E27

Deliberate mistake: After Barney buys the car from Mrs. Lesh, he and Andy are standing at the steps as he tells her not to look back at the car, and the next shot of Andy and Barney at the front door is the same shot from a few moments prior, but it's been flipped so they would be looking in the opposite direction. Floyd, the Gay Deceiver - S3-E9

Continuity mistake: At the start, when Floyd and Andy walk into the barbershop, in the exterior shot Floyd's white barber jacket is on a hanger hanging from the coat tree that has a finial at the top of its pole, but in the next interior shot that jacket is hanging directly on the coat tree's hook, the hanger has vanished, and that finial has disappeared as well.

The Big House - S3-E32

Continuity mistake: At the end, when Andy walks in on Barney showing Gomer how to draw his gun, Gomer draws his gun out of the holster which sends it flying behind him, and in the closeup the bookcase glass shatters, but in the wideshot when they all turn to look the glass is still perfectly intact.

The Big House - S3-E32

Continuity mistake: When Gomer drops the gun from the roof it lands on the ground directly in front of Andy and Barney, who are standing on the sidewalk beside the courthouse, but the area where they're standing looks different between the overhead shots and closeups, and their shadows change as well. Additionally, the gun lands with its handle to the left, but in the wideshot the gun is lying the opposite way, with its handle to the right.

Andy's Rich Girlfriend - S3-E2

Visible crew/equipment: After Andy explains to Barney why he's taking Peggy to a nice restaurant 55 miles away, when Barney walks away from the cell we can see the leg and shadow of the tall wood ladder (presumably the crew's) at the right side of the screen, but when Barney and Andy are by the front door there's no such ladder behind Barney in his closeups.

Super Grover

High Noon in Mayberry - S3-E17

Deliberate mistake: While Luke and Andy are in the house, Barney, Gomer, and Otis are hiding on the porch, and Barney has the idea to turn off the lights in the house, so he goes to the circuit box located beside the windows on the front porch and switches the lights off. The problem is that this circuit box is located on the porch only for this episode as a plot point.

Super Grover

Opie's Group - S8-E9

Andy: Clara, sometimes a parent can't see what he should do, and sometimes it takes a person from the outside to show him. And I'd like to thank you.
Clara: Groovy.

The Darling Baby - S5-E12

Question: Why is it when they were on the show the Darling sons never spoke? Would they be paid more if they did, or was this some sort of joke?

Rob245

Answer: It was a joke. They were supposed to be dumb hillbillies.

Both. According to later interviews with both Andy and the Dillards band (the real name of the band that played the parts of the Darling children, of which Charlene (Maggie Peterson - Mancuso was also a member) the reason the Darling boys never had any lines was because they would've had to have been paid if they spoke. In return for appearing without lines or pay, Andy promised to get as much of their music onto the show as possible which, he did. This obviously gave them a lot of exposure.
