The agony and the 'ex'tasy - S4-E1

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is showering after being stood up at her party she is not wearing mascara as she stands with her face under the water, then as she opens the curtain to talk to Charlotte again there is no mascara. She puts her hands briefly over her eyes and when she takes them away, mascara is visible all over her eyes and cheeks.

Lights, camera, relationship - S6-E5

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Carrie are arguing in the street, Jack stretches out his arms widely asking for a hug. Carrie starts walking towards him, but in the very next shot suddenly Jack's arms are down by his sides. (00:23:35)

Hop, skip, and a week - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: After Carrie rents the car and takes it back, she and Miranda are sitting on the couch talking. As Carrie says something, she turns her head to the right, looking straight at Miranda. When Miranda replies, "Well, that's one option", you can still see Carrie's head in the shot, turned towards Miranda on the right. But then in the next shot of Carrie, she is facing straight ahead and talking in the middle of a sentence. (00:19:30)

No ifs, ands or butts - S3-E5

Audio problem: Carrie tips her cigarettes into the toilet and flushes it. The shot is looking into the bowl when we hear the flush, but the water doesn't move.

Anchors away - S5-E1

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is talking to the cute guy while hiding out from the rain, she tells him, "I was engaged last year". But the previous episode, when Mr. Big moved to Napa, it was just becoming Fall in NYC. So it doesn't seem likely that only one episode later, it would be months later into the next calendar year. Change of a dress - S4-E15

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is reading the magazine and Aiden punches a hole through her wall, the hole looks to be about 4 feet from the corner of the wall. But after Carrie gets up and runs into the other apartment to confront Aiden, the hole in the other side of the wall is suddenly about 8 feet from the same corner, much further away. (00:12:55)

Attack of the five foot ten woman - S3-E3

Revealing mistake: In the sauna, the girls are supposedly naked but when Samantha tells Charlotte to take off her towel, you can see that she's wearing a skin-coloured strapless bra.

Sex and the country - S4-E9

Plot hole: When Carrie is sitting on the kitchen table after Aiden ices her legs, they begin to kiss. As they lean back over the table; Carrie stretches her legs out and wraps them around Aiden, rubbing them against him several times. She has just been painfully burned on her legs, but suddenly has no problem rubbing the burned areas against his waist without any pain, problems or hesitation. She is acting as if she was never burned; but the skin would have still been tender, and it would have hurt to brush it against Aiden in that manner. (00:26:45)

The real me - S4-E2

Continuity mistake: As the group are discussing Samantha's nude photos in the restaurant, a salad Miranda has ordered arrives at the table. Just after Carrie says "that we know of" you can see the waitress place both the salad and a ramekin of dressing onto the table from behind Miranda. The shot then cuts to the front and the waitress is shown putting the ramekin down for the second time.

Critical condition - S5-E6

Revealing mistake: When Carrie is watching TV in her apartment, she uses the remote to click off the TV after SNL is over. There is a close-up of the TV screen, reflecting the room in front of it. You can see a round table with a lot of stuff on it, the windows/curtains and desk, and what appears to be a square ottoman of some kind. But Carrie is nowhere in sight, there is just a blank wall reflected where her image should have been. She is directly facing her TV, as shown from the angle of her perspective as she clicks it off. We should be able to see her somewhere within the television reflection, but she isn't there. (00:20:10)

Drama queens - S3-E7

Plot hole: When Charlotte runs out of the restaurant; her male friend is still chasing her, and you can see him follow her out the door to the sidewalk. But then Charlotte falls in front of Trey's taxi, and Trey gets out to help her up and they meet. Meanwhile, where is Charlotte's friend? He would have still been outside, have seen her fall, and surely would have ran over to help Charlotte and see if she was OK. Yet we never see him again after she falls, and he virtually disappears from the scene. (00:22:30)

Splat! - S6-E18

Plot hole: Elizabeth Taylor is "gang banged" at the park by a number of dogs of different breeds. Yet the puppies that she has are all King Charles Spaniels just like their mother.

My motherboard, my self - S4-E8

Other mistake: When Samantha first has sex with the positions expert, they are supposed to be having sex at a moment where he flips her over but she isn't close enough to him to hide the fact that he isn't inside her.

Anchors away - S5-E1

Revealing mistake: When Miranda is breast feeding Brady with Carrie in the room, as she pulls down her top, you can see her prosthetic body suit rippling and bunching up.

The big time - S3-E8

Continuity mistake: When the girls are in the bathroom talking about their periods and doing their make up, we see Carrie remove the hair scrunchie from her wrist with her teeth twice, once in the mirror in a shot from behind, and then again from the front.

Where there's smoke - S3-E1

Plot hole: After Carrie misses the Staten Island Ferry, Bill Kelly suddenly drives up in his own car to offer her a ride home. She accepts, and gets in the car. He then asks her 'how do they get off the island' as if he has no idea of what roads to take. But he has obviously driven his own car TO Staten Island, so he should know the way back. (00:27:50)

A woman's right to shoes (a.k.a. no shoes, no service) - S6-E9

Continuity mistake: In this episode, Brady has the Chicken Pox. But when Robert visits Miranda at home and picks up Brady, there is absolutely no sign at all that he has Chicken Pox. It takes awhile to get over Chicken Pox, and for them to fade. So even if Brady is recovering from having Chicken Pox recently, he would still show signs of it. It couldn't go away that fast, and it's way too soon for Brady to be completely clear. (00:12:55)

Boy, girl, boy, girl - S3-E4

Continuity mistake: During this scene when Samantha is confronting her new assistant, the office set-up is completely different than before, when Nina G. was working for her. The assistant office space is much larger, glass desk, different angle, next to small conference room instead of Samantha's office, etc.; obviously not the same office set as previously used. Yet Samantha has not changed offices at all during this time period, as it wasn't too long ago when she fired Nina G. Something as major as changing offices would definitely have been mentioned in the plot (as changing apartments always is); and there hasn't been enough time since she fired Nina G. (00:13:45)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: You're assuming that moving to a new office must be a plot for a new episode, which makes no sense (plus, it's a show that revolves around sex, women, restaurants and bars). Furthermore, the episode you mention is S2E17. Many months have passed and it's perfectly plausible for Sam to move some place else.

The cheating curve - S2-E6

Visible crew/equipment: After Carrie lies to Miranda about getting her teeth cleaned, she turns around and you can see the shape of a square microphone pack through her coat.

Samantha: There isn't enough wall space in New York City to hang all of my exes. Let me tell you, a lot of them were hung.

Trivia: Carrie is the only main character who never appears nude (she is either dressed or covered by something). Sarah Jessica Parker had a strict "no nudity" clause in her contract.

Show generally

Question: During the first few seasons (pretty obviously in season 3), Carrie often wears the same ring on her right or left hand on her middle finger. Is this Sarah Jessica Parker's wedding ring?

Answer: Yes, it is.
