The Brain Center at Whipple's is an old episode in the original Twilight Zone series where Mr Whipple states "out with the old and in with the new." What an interesting tie in with Oliver's win as President. Mr Whipple pushes himself right out of a job as automation has taken over. In this reboot, Raff pushes himself out of a job as his new young candidate orders him to be killed.

Other mistake: Phil looks up the driving time from Ashford and Diamond Falls. It is 4 hours 12 minutes. Later, he goes to meet Annie, and she has suggested they meet at Colson Bay, which is "in the middle." He is on a train, and he says that in 4 hours 12 minutes he will meet her. Even ignoring the fact that the train ride duration may or may not be four hours 12 minutes, that cannot be, as they are meeting "in the middle" of that distance.
