SEAL Team

Ghosts of Christmas Future - S1-E4

Factual error: The Seals are in the briefing room and the speaker says their next target is "supplying the Taliban with the .50 cal armor piercing sniper rifles." Sniper rifles and rifles in and of themselves are not armor piercing, the only thing that is armor piercing is the type of ammunition that can be used in said rifles. Any high power rifle can have armor pricing ammunition made for it such as 7.62 Nato aka .308, .30-06, .338 Lapua Magnum, .50 BMG. A sniper rifle can use full metal jacket ammo too. (00:07:30 - 00:08:00)

Containment - S1-E11

Factual error: When they capture the trucks they first say that there is no nuclear material. But later find that the warheads are nuclear. A Geiger counter would pick up nuclear material from a warhead or a dirty bomb. Also, they are worried about the bombs being unstable. No way are the cores unstable. The conventional explosives could be. Why wouldn't they separate the explosives from the warhead? Finally, wouldn't you scout out the bridge before driving across? There are tons of loose boards.

Getaway Day - S1-E13

Factual error: When Blackburn tells Jason that something has happened with Echo team he is being summoned to the conference room and called a Lieutenant. Blackburn is a Lieutenant Commander and should not be called a Lieutenant. Lieutenant Commanders can be called just Commander but not a lieutenant. Calling him a Lieutenant would never happen in real life. (00:05:54)

Never Get Out of the Boat - S1-E16

Factual error: Clay is in a van, and he's looking at some men possibly standing guard. He uses his Eotech EXPS optic to zoom in on them. An Eotech optic is a zero power magnification optic, so looking through it is like looking through nothing. The only way it can be magnified is by adding a G33 3x or the newer G45 5x magnifier to the system. These magnifiers flip 90° and lock in place when magnification is needed or flip back when its not. Clay's rifle does not have a magnifier. (00:14:00 - 00:15:00)

Never Get Out of the Boat - S1-E16

Factual error: The team is in the briefing room, and they're being dispatched to Panatag Shoal. The picture of the island in the ops room has been modified from the original. The original real world picture shows very little vegetation. For this series they created a jungle to replace the water and sand shoal to make it fit their mission. The way the island is depicted in the series doesn't exist in reality. (00:30:20 - 00:31:27)

Never Get Out of the Boat - S1-E16

Factual error: Seals arrange their weapons and gear according to the mission they are deployed on, CQB requires short compact weapons, so they'll go with H&K 416 with a 10.4" barrel or the H&K MP7, for open terrain missions they'll swap out their uppers in the H&K 416's and swap in the 14.5" barrels. Bravo team is on a jungle op where no CQB is expected however most of the guys are rolling with 10.4." Clay is the only one with the long distance set up. Sonny doesn't even have his MK46 SAW. (00:32:12 - 00:33:00)

In Name Only - S1-E17

Factual error: In this episode the Seals are flying around on the stealth helicopters like the ones used on Operation Neptune Spear (Bin Laden op), but for some reason the Seals are using the outdated night vision goggles with 80 degree field of view and not the GPVG-18's with a 97 degree field of view. DEVGRU use the best gear, they would not be using AN-PVS-15 or 31's. On operation Neptune Spear they utilized the GPNG-18's. (00:25:00 - 00:31:10)

The Cost of Doing Business - S1-E22

Factual error: A CH-47D Chinook helicopter is shown on the tarmac with N160BE in large white letters. This is a civilian registration number, not one for a military aircraft. A check with the FAA shows it is registered to Unical Aviation at City of Industry, California. (00:26:00)

Fracture - S2-E1

Factual error: The briefer on the oil platform mission says the platform is 12 stories, and 80 million square feet. Doing the math, that makes it half a mile per side if completely square. It is nowhere near that size as shown. The largest oil rig in the world - Berkut in Russia's Far East - has a combined deck area of only 342,000 square feet. (00:13:35)

Never Say Die - S2-E2

Factual error: Jason's wife Alana tells Jason she going to grab H.E.B.'s finest bottle of $12 red, a rotisserie chicken and beer. H.E.B is a Texas grocery store, and the show is set in Virginia Beach, VA, Virginia doesn't have H.E.B. Stores. (00:39:03)

The Worst of Conditions - S2-E3

Factual error: The Seal team is heading up the stairs and a terrorist pokes his head out, and he gets shot 4 times with 5.56 rounds. He's dead, but he manages to exhale a grunt and as he's falling down the middle opening of the stairwell, and he's screening "ahhhhhhhh." This show and many like it have found a need for dead guys to exhale grunts or screams. When somebody is killed their brain shuts down. There's no noise being made by the body unless it's the body itself falling like a sack of potatoes. (00:41:00)

Time to Shine - S2-E13

Factual error: The heart cannot be restarted using a defibrillator, in fact, a defibrillator stops a fibrillating heart. The only way to restart it is chest compression.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: CPR cannot restart a heart. See below: "BE AWARE Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will not restart a heart in sudden cardiac arrest. CPR is just a temporary measure used to continue a minimal supply of oxygen to the brain and other organs. When someone is in sudden cardiac arrest, defibrillation is the only way to re-establish a regular heartbeat." From https://www.aedauthority.com/cardiac-arrest/.

Just to be clear, "sudden cardiac arrest" occurs when the heart fibrillates, which is not the same as a stopped heart.

Medicate and Isolate - S2-E19

Factual error: One of the Seals is donning a night vision device, and he looks through his Eotech Exps optic and the dot appears red. That is incorrect a holographic sight or a red dot through night vision appears as a dot, there is no red color through night vision. Soldiers rely on their AN/PEQ-15 ATPIAL laser for targeting when they use night vision. (00:23:30 - 00:24:00)

All Along the Watchtower: Part 2 - S3-E6

Factual error: The Seals use Surefire suppressors which reduce flash by 99%. As the suppressors get warmed up the flash slightly increases. In the show the muzzle flash is that of unsuppressed weapons. (00:32:20 - 00:33:00)

Edge of Nowhere - S3-E18

Factual error: A US Navy Lieutenant Commander (Chaplain) is shown wearing a metal chaplain badge on his working uniform. This is not authorized. Working uniforms require cloth badges. (00:09:40)

Fair Winds and Following Seas - S6-E10

Factual error: The grave headstone for Benjamin Bellerow states Master SGT US Navy. There are no Sergeants in the Navy, only Chiefs. If the rank was correct it should have read US Marine Corps, US Army or US Air Force. (00:19:08)

Credible Threat - S1-E18

Question: It shows the tier 1 operators taking the congressman and other officials through the hospital with photographers and film crews everywhere. Aren't tier 1 operators identities supposed to be unknown? Why would they be visible in such a high profile scene?

Answer: They should be wearing balaclavas. They do such operations usually on foreign soil.
