The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: Despite the several episodes containing serious offences like murder, you never see two barristers on any side. It is usual with serious offences for each party to have one Queen's Counsel and a junior, and although there are exceptions, we never ever see this very common practice in any episode.

The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: An error which arises from having the same characters in different episodes is that the frequently-featured barristers vary the cases they deal with to a laughable extent. One Queen's Counsel (A barrister appointed as counsel to the British crown) was seen defending a murderer in one episode and prosecuting a trivial offence in another. Someone of this seniority would not fluctuate workload like this.

The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: During an episode which concerned a sweet shop owner charged with touching a young girl, there were two instances where a question of law arose. The judge should have sent the jury out of the court to discuss this with the barristers, but he didn't and exposed the jury to biased information.

Show generally

Factual error: Throughout this series we are treated to a set of the House of Commons. Whilst it's almost accurate in nearly every detail, it misses out one crucial aspect. The set only has 4 rows of seating, the real House of Commons has 5.

Smart and Smarter - S15-E13

Factual error: The tongue Lisa sleeps on in the museum isn't anatomically correct. It shows the bitter and sweet taste buds as being side by side on the surface of the tongue. In reality, different taste buds are not in specific places on the tongue. I wouldn't normally complain, but this is supposed to be in a museum.

Sick - S2-E5

Factual error: During "Jester Balowski's Medieval Torture Hour," Balowski grabs the guys arm and bends it the way arms are supposed to bend, yet you hear a breaking noise.

The Mighty Ducks (1992)

Factual error: The science teacher makes a water molecule and claims it makes up "96% of the human body." This is simply wrong. Depending on the person, it usually ranges between 70-80%, with around 15-18% of us being carbon.

The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: In one episode, I think it's the one entitled "Breaking Point" which featured an assault, right at the end the barristers from different sides are seen shaking hands in the courtroom. This is a breach of one of the most important rules of the British adversarial court system and it's second nature to barristers not to do it.

The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: There are several instances of barristers, judges and court officials wearing the wrong court attire. Ushers are seen in wigs, which they don't wear, the judges have their winter garments on, despite it being summer and vice versa. Similarly, none of the barristers are ever presented as "QCs" and yet several are wearing the QC silks, but none have the waistcoat which goes with it.

The Courtroom (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: At several points, barristers who are not QCs are seen leaning on little podiums or rostrums (which they have brought into the court themselves). Only QCs are allowed to use these.

Gandhi (1982)

Factual error: During the scenes of the Calcutta riots and various other places, we see various cars from the 50's when the events in question took place in the 40's. Most notably several Morris cars which hadn't been built yet.

The Brief (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: At one point the barristers are seen going into the old arch entrance of the Old Bailey. However, you cannot actually go in that way, it's blocked off, you have to go in the more modern entrance and through a series of security checks.

The Brief (2004)

Show generally

Factual error: At several points we are shown the barristers inside the Old Bailey. However, it is in fact the Royal Courts of Justice on The Strand, not the Old Bailey.

Eraser (1996)

Factual error: When Arnie shoots out the cockpit window, first of all the glass seems about as thick as a Coke bottle which in reality it isn't. Secondly it shatters like one, not like the modern safety glass which it would be made of. (00:56:20)

King Ralph (1991)

Factual error: There are numerous references made to the Finnish Royal Family, and they even make an appearance. Only problem is, Finland doesn't have a Royal Family.

David Mercier

Factual error: The mounted machine gun fires far too many shots for the limited supply of ammo it has in the box attached to it.

David Mercier

Factual error: The rocket launcher that is used on the big yellow plough is a single shot M1A1 L.A.W. (Light Anti-tank Weapon). However, the woman then picks it up and fires it again. It could not have had another rocket in it, and reloading it takes much longer than the few seconds between firings in the film. Plus Joey didn't connect the firing clip to the trigger mechanism, as would be needed.
