King Kong (2005)

Corrected entry: The New York scenes take place in winter, on a day cold enough for the lake in Central Park to freeze hard enough to hold Kong's weight. Despite this, Anne Darrow shows no hint of cold or discomfort, despite wearing a sleeveless gown. Kong takes her to the top of the Empire State Building, where it's even colder. Still no discomfort. In fact, she's able to climb a metal ladder, which should have frozen her poor little fingers off. By the time Driscoll reached her, Darrow should have been a block of ice. The effects of adrenaline would never have lasted to keep Anne warm for that long.

Correction: Evidently you haven't lived in a cold climate. We just had a week of -30C night-time temperatures. The lakes and rivers around here are frozen hard. My neighbours went ice fishing today, parking their large 4X4 truck and all its gear on the lake. It didn't break through, and it is above freezing today. They even built a fire on the lake to cook burgers. It didn't go through the ice. It's easy for a pond to be completely frozen, and stay frozen for some time after the weather warms up. A person's hands don't freeze their little fingers off climbing a ladder, unless they hold their hands on it for some time. I've done it, and never had frostbite. A block of ice wouldn't happen unless the person dies. Blood circulating through a body keeps you from freezing solid in the winter. From other scenes in the movie, where passersby are seen with their coats open and scarves undone, it is apparent the weather is not that cold. There are also scenes with melting snow in the street, further evidence that it was likely quite cold earlier in the week, but has warmed up considerably.

Corrected entry: When Carolyn Polhemus is questioning a young witness on the stand, she commits several legal errors that would certainly have led to objections from the defense. For example, she asks, "Did someone put your head in the vise?" That's called a leading question, and is generally not allowed during direct examination, even if the witness is a child. Then when the child doesn't answer, she asks "What did you say when someone put your head in the vise?" You can't legally ask the follow-up question when the first question has not been answered. Even if the defense lawyer allowed the leading question, which is unlikely, he would certainly have objected to the follow-up question.

Correction: I am taking a class called procedures of the criminal justice system and in my class I have learned about this precise thing. The lawyer that calls the witness is only allowed to do direct examination. The definition of this is non-leading questions that do not suggest an answer. However, there are exceptions to this, and one of these exceptions, is one that Carolyn used. You can usually lead a child victim/witness.

Corrected entry: It's still some degree of daylight in the exterior shot of Rayford's plane. Inside the plane, several passengers have their window guards up, and it's pitch black outside. Outside one window you can even see the blinking red light (anyone who has sat near the wing on a red-eye flight can relate). But when Rayford decides to turn the plane around, the exterior shot still shows some daylight.

Correction: This is possible depending on which side of the plane the passengers are on and the plane's altitude. If the plane is at an average of 35-40.000 feet, if the sun is setting or rising, it's possible to have darkness on one side of the plane, as it is still in shadow, but the sky already lightening.

The Untouchables (1987)

Correction: Funny, but that is pretty much exactly what happened: His only chance of reducing his sentence now was to influence the jury and during the summer before the trial, Capone's gang began the process of bribing and threatening all of the twelve jurors. Realising what Capone would do, Judge Wilkerson made other plans, and on the day of the trial he openly switched jurys with another trial. The following day, after nine hours of deliberation, the new jury found Capone guilty of some, but not all, counts of tax evasion.
