Question: Did Peggy always live in Montana when she was younger? There's one Valentine's episode where a flashback shows her and Hank in high school.

Answer: This has been somewhat of a topic of discussion amongst fans of the show. Along with the difference with her mother in a couple of shows, its never really been set when she left Montana and by what age as its changed at times. What seems to be at least certain is she was born and for a certain period lived in Montana.

Question: In the song "Be Our Guest" what do they say after "Course by course, one by one, till you shout" I can never quite understand it.

Answer: From the lyrics this is what it reads "'Til you shout, "Enough! I'm done!. Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest. Tonight you'll prop your feet up. But for now, let's eat up" then it goes into the chorus again.

Batman Forever (1995)

Question: How could the Riddler and Two-Face be ready for two heroes at the end of the film? Robin didn't exist until just before the mission began so he wouldn't even be in the brain scan Edward took earlier from Bruce.

Answer: The fact they were waiting in Riddler's layer is not exactly incredibly hard to accept. Two Face went outside with a gun and Riddler seemed to have things in place in case anyone tried to come near his facility. The only thing that seemed planned was the special traps to hold two people but again that could come under something he had in his facility to begin with. Other than that there is nothing suprising about what happened.

Question: What was the point of the police officer being in a crash at the beginning of the film. I didn't really see the point of it as it didn't play any part in the storyline.

Answer: While it doesn't have anything to do with the overall plot, the crash shows just how much Matthew is afraid to do the wrong thing and perhaps how he overthinks things. As we know all he would be doing is missing a bit of school by getting in his car and driving from the school. The fact that Matthew is able to imagine an horrific crash of a security guard because of just skipping school shows how worried he is about doing the wrong thing.

Question: How come Briscoe and Greene and every other cop that works in the precinct can wear suits at the scene of a crime but when other cops from other precincts are also at the crime scene they are wearing uniforms?

Answer: An example of this might be easier to give a reason, but the most likely explanation is that those in police uniform are just regular police while Briscoe, Green are detectives. As for the precinct, the area that they work in is where other detectives work so that would be why so many are dressed in suits as well.

Hotel Rwanda (2004)

Question: I believe they mentioned it in the movie, but I missed it. How was it decided who is Tutsi and who is Hutu?

Answer: Generally there were two methods, one they had identification badges that mentioned whether they were Tutsi or Hutu. This is evident when Don Cheadle goes to buy supplies and they want to see some ID. The other was simply that people knew each other. Some people would say who was Tutsi and who was Hutu.

Lummie

Answer: The ID indicated ethnicity.

Question: In the end scene when Simon Gruber has the automatic gun pointed at McClane, right before McClane shoots the gun off at the wire, why does he hesitate? He just has it pointed at McClane, but he doesn't start shooting until right before the helicopter crashes. Why does Gruber hesitate?

Answer: This looks more of a filmmakers decision rather than hesitation on the characters part. Its supposed to be that we see from McClane's point of view and that in a split second he sees Gruber and then the wire. While the shot is perhaps a little slow, it helps show the viewer what McClane is thinking, rather than it being Gruber just holding the gun.

Question: In the scenes that take place in Japan, they sometimes speak English and sometimes Japanese, sometimes even a line in English following a reply in Japanese or vice versa. It was made clear that The Bride can speak and understand Japanese, so why do they keep switching languages like that?

killin_kellit

Chosen answer: There is nothing to say exactly why its mixed up, but films using foreign languages can approach it in three different ways. Have it all in English and apply accents to the characters, which avoids subtitles. Make it more authentic by having it in the native language but subject people to subtitles (which is never a commerically popular decision) or mix the characters' speech with having the characters speak some English and some of the native language. This keeps some authenticity and avoids having the entire film in a foreign language. Films like The Godfather are examples of using both English and a foreign language.

Lummie

Question: Why was the Bride never arrested or even charged with any crime after she left so many people dead in the restaurant and even more who were maimed? After her bloody revenge work was done, why is she able to just get on an airplane and leave the country with no repercussions whatsoever?

Answer: The answer falls under the common film cheat that we don't know what happened so one can only speculate as to what happened. When the police came and whether they knew it was her is up for debate. As for leaving the country, she was a professional killer who had killed all over the world so its not out of the scope of her abilities to get out of the country without being held by the police. Again it's speculation so she might have used fake passports or the police didn't have enough evidence to hold her.

Donnie Darko (2001)

Question: Donnie's purpose was to ensure that that the engine fell into the primary universe by sending his mother and sister on the plane. Why was it so important that his mother had to board the plane? Wouldn't it have gone down without her anyway?

Answer: No they didn't have to be on the plane and it would have gone down without her but Donnie and his sister had to have the party for the remaining events to work. In burning down Cunningham's house, Kitty would have to stay behind and help Cunningham. This would ensure Donnie's mother would therefore leave and the remaining events could occur.

General questions

I know there have been lots of theatrical movies with direct to video sequels, but are there any direct to video movies that have theatrically released sequels?

Answer: I don't believe there ever has been a sequel after the first film has been made straight to video. Generally the studio that releases a film will test the film and see if there is any potential. Some have spawned sequels, but none in the theatre. The closest film was possibly Toy Story. Like many of Disney's films the sequel was set to go straight to video but the studio felt it was so strong that it was given a theatrical run, which proved extremely successful.

Question: Why did Paul drain his pool, dig up the box, and dump it in the river? It would have made more sense to not touch it, as it was the finding of the box by a fisherman that really made Mike zero in on him. I still can't figure out why.

Answer: Paul was planning to sell the house after Mary Alice commited suicide. Being that the next tenants might redo the property, if the pool was ripped up then they would find the body. Paul owned the property, knew the victim, and constructed the pool while they were living there so it would likely be enough evidence to convict him. However dumping the toy box in the lake meant that there wasn't any link/evidence to Paul or Mary Alice had anything to do with it other than owning a toy box.

Question: Why would Daryl Hannah not have used her cell phone to call for help in Bud's trailer after her eye was pulled out?

Answer: There is nothing to say this didn't happen. The last we see or hear from Hannah's character is when Uma Thurman leaves the trailer. At the time Thurman leaves Hannah's character she is obviously still in considerable pain and what she did after this is open to debate.

Law & Order (1990)

Show generally

Question: What were the cases that the so-called "honorable" William Wright was presiding over and why did he reverse the verdicts?

Answer: William Wright has been in 4 episodes of Law & Order as an judge. They were "Damaged", "Gunshow", "Harm" and "Dissonance". I believe "Gunshow was the only episode he reversed a verdict. That was because the evidence presented did not meet the guidenlines set at the start of the trial and the evidence wasn't conclusive enough to link the gun manufacturers to the crime itself.

Lummie

If I remember correctly there was also an episode where he also reversed the verdict on two teenage boys who were found guilty of raping a girl because according to Wright, "She probably enjoyed it."

Answer: Currently it is set for release in Australia on the 25th of January, 2006.

Question: The T-1000 kills the cop at the beginning. He takes his clothes, but he never takes shape of the cop. So why don't other cops get suspicious? After all, they might have heard a news report that Officer Austin died, and they see a completely different looking man in his uniform.

Answer: Why would they? Throughout the film the T-1000 keeps to himself and only once or twice even comes close to meeting the police. The first is when he tells one officer, "Say, thats a nice bike" and the other when he gets rid of the pilot in the helicopter. We don't know if other police even noticed him or even realised that he wasn't an actual policeman. Being that it had no bearing on the films plot line it was never an issue to discuss further in the film.

Lummie

Answer: No, despite more than enough clues and close calls. Peggy and John Redcorn are the only ones who have come close to telling Dale that Joseph is not his real son but both Dale and Joseph have never found it out.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Question: Why are the bullet holes that appear behind Vincent and Jules, in the "The Bonnie Situation" chapter, regarded as a "Mistake" on this website? I thought they are there to show it wasn't really a miracle at all.

Answer: The mistake is that in the shot before the guy comes out of the bathroom firing his gun you can see the same bullet holes in the wall as after he finishes firing his gun. Those bullet holes were not meant to be there already as you can see before this is completely clear of any holes.

The Simpsons (1989)

Answer: Its fairly obvious that its either a learning difficulty or his intelligence is not too high. His character has varied at times, in early seasons he was able to continue simple conversations like in the episode "I Love Lisa". In more recent seasons his character has trouble even doing that and cannot handle even the most simple of tasks.

Lummie

Answer: It is revealed in another episode that Bart had three other friends and for a funny gag showed us Wiggum dropping baby Ralph on his head and then him failing to put the milk bottle in his mouth.

Question: After the race at the beginning, Dom leaves his car at a car park and heads home. The police stop him and he runs, only to be picked up by Brian. Surely the police would know where he lives and call round later to question him about the evening's events?

Answer: There are two ideas of why the police did not come around. Firstly they might have found out after the car chase that Brian was an undercover cop so it would be more effective to allow him to try and discover information instead of going around and arresting Dom. The other idea is that the police might not have enough to arrest him. Dom was not the one driving when they found him and other than racing, it might be tough to arrest him.

Lummie

Cops are usually completely unaware of an undercover cop's identity. The more, realistic reason is that the cop didn't ID Dom and since Brian's car was later destroyed, there's nothing for them to investigate. Afterwards, they might ID Dom, but there's an investigation on him, so they'd leave him alone.
