Peter Rabbit (2018)
I rented this from Red Box.
A thoroughly surprisingly good film. I rented this and expected it to be another Smurfs or Chipmunks film but it was everything but. The story is well written, the characters are invested, the acting is wonderful and the jokes are extremely funny and clever. It's a joy and a riot to laugh and love from start to finish and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
Mistake Status: Did not look, may in the future.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018)
So today, I took my son to the theaters with my mom to see Teen Titans GO to the Movies.
Now, I loved the older Teen Titans show when it was on the air. Watched almost every episode. And when I saw what that was turned into with the pile of heaping walrus dung that is Teen Titans GO... I was furious. The show is bad and insulting in almost every way imaginable to both the original show and the audience. To make it worse, they actually have the audacity to consider it a sequel series continuing the original. -. -
However... the trailers to this movie were... actually surprisingly looking fairly good. So I went into this film with an open mind.
And to my surprise... it actually wasn't all that bad. Yes the characterization of the Titans, especially Robin, is still horrible. (with the exception of Beast Boy as he seems to actually fit into the newer version of the show fairly well with how his personality already is lol) However it seems that the film makers are well aware of the negative reception of the GO series and made this film around that. No, not that they changed what's bad... it's that they embraced it and make fun of themselves in this film.
And to their credit, this movie succeeds with that. Showing how the rest of the DC heroes see the Titans as a joke, not real heroes. That they are too goofy.
The humor and jokes in the film, for the most part, are actually well written. Aside from the handful of cringe worthy fart and poop jokes, there are a lot of things in this film that legit had me laughing in the theater.
And the inside jokes and references are subtle and funny. This... is actually something this film does better than Ready Player One. In Player One the references and nostalgic cameos are shoved down your throat every few seconds and you can't really take the time to appreciate any of them.
In Teen Titans GO to the Movies, they are fairly subtle and even many only an older audience like myself would actually get. Like the fact that Superman is voiced by Nick Cage, and him saying the like "Somebody save me." A lot of you younger kinds probably don't get that. There are a ton of other inside and subtle reference jokes like this through out the movie. It actually is a very funny film.
Now, if you set aside the fact that the characterization of the Titans is still an insult to the original series, and try to pretend this has nothing to do with the Teen Titans and consider it a stand alone feature, the film is actually not that bad. The plot works, and the film is constantly making fun of itself and super hero movie genre and industry as a whole. And DC even pokes fun at themselves quite hard in this movie. Hell... Stan Lee eve has a cameo in the film. Twice! It's like this film is Deadpool meets... well the Teen Titans. (and they even kinda make that parody with Slade lol)
Now, the movie does start a bit bland, with the balloon monster attacking the city and the Titans trying to take it down, and that whole fart joke that's in the trailers happens. And this is actually the low point of the film. It just gets better from there. Increasingly funny and a shockingly good story line about the Titans, and especially Robin, trying to figure out if they are true heroes and to prove it. While having to save the world.
I found myself enjoying this move quite a bit, and it for sure had my 4 year old son's attention glued to the screen the whole time. It's got something for all ages. Even my 60 year old mom enjoyed it.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this movie actually somehow turned out somewhat good. I'm blown away. I give it 3 stars.
Mistake Status: Caught a couple of mistakes while in the theater. I might buy or rent this movie later on to search for mistakes since I do like doing them to animated hero movies.

The Jackal (1997)
I checked out this movie from the Library.
I never saw the original film from the 70's. In fact I didn't even know there was one till I watched this.
But I did enjoy this film. It was well written and engaging. It's nice to see Willis is capable of playing a very sinister villain and did a great job as such.
I really enjoy films like this. I do recognize some flaws with it and it wasn't super amazing or anything. But very enjoyable all the same.
Mistake Status: I went through it with a thin comb twice, finding anything I could. I'm pretty confident that I found everything, but I could have missed something here or there. I would like to see if someone else is able to find anything I missed.

Pacific Rim Uprising (2018)
I rented this from Red Box.
The movie wasn't as good as the first one. And I will agree there are some parts that are just... bad. But over all it's a very enjoyable film. For what it is, it works. Just not a cup of tea for everybody. You have to have a certain appreciation for this sort of movie when going into it.
Mistake Status: Did not search, no current plans to do so.

Rampage (2018)
I rented this from Red Box.
This movie was surprisingly good. We all know how giant monster movies tend to go and this did have a lot of the same style tropes. But it had great acting, decent effects and a gripping enough story to keep you vested. It's not a great move, but it's not bad either. A good popcorn flick to keep you entertained.
Mistake Status: Studied it semi thoroughly when rented. I might buy the movie later on and go through it more extensively again.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
I saw this movie in theaters.
...Well what can I say? It's been 10 years following the MCU leading up to this point. When Iron Man came out back in 2008, I was 18 and in my Junior year in High School. I've been following this movie series ever since and have seen most of them in theaters when I was financially able to.
There were countless predictions online that this movie was going to do like The Last Jedi where people claimed it would fall very short of expectations and hype... Granted I love The Last Jedi and thought it was one of the best films in the series to date, so I wasn't all too worried about these comments. However it was still rise for concern. I feared the film would not live up to the hype and be "just another MCU" film.
I am so glad that was not the case. This is easily the best film in the franchise yet. And with one of their best villains ever put to screen. It is a bit hard to decide if Thanos or Killmonger is the best MCU baddy... but after you let this movie sink in for a few months the choice becomes clear.
I'll be honest, I'm a little disappointing that they seem to have thrown out the whole angle of Thanos being in love with Lady Death and pleasing her being the motivation behind his actions... However the direction they did take him is more than amazing. And who knows... maybe in Avengers 4 we will still get some of that. There have been countless rumors that Hella will be brought back from Ragnarok and turn into Lady Death. I believe that even happened at one point in one of the timelines in the comics. At least so I've heard. I've also heard rumors that Avengers 4 will also be split again into two films... guess we just wait and see. It's awesome to have those films come out right around my birthday in May!
Anyways, the film doesn't disappoint. It's got some amazing action, splendid writing, and a superb cast of characters. Almost every aspect of the film is delivered on in near flawless order. Though I will agree with Captain Midnight that the crew stuck in Wakanda did seem to get the short end of the stick a bit on screen time and development. They felt more back burner than anything. Not that I didn't enjoy every moment of their battle. And the way they made the hoards of faceless enemies for the to battle again seem so much scarier with how they acted at the force field was a nice refresher to the hoards of faceless minions they fought in Avengers, in Age of Ultron, an even Ragnarok.
The ending is great! But I'll try to avoid spoilers. I'm very eager to see how they try to turn things around in the next film and undo what Thanos has done. Who will be sacrificed? Who will be brought back? Who wont? And most importantly... who will pay the ultimate price for good? I can hardly wait!
Mistake Status: I saw this movie in theaters before I had made my return to this site so I didn't look for any. Not that I would have anyways for a film like this while in theaters. I will own it eventually and I do plan to go through the MCU for mistakes as I love super hero movies. Just it's not high priority right now as plenty of other people have been doing it. I'm focusing more on the animated features. That and I plan to tackle the dceu soon.

Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
I own this on DVD.
I don't understand all the hate this movie gets. People say it's the worst of the series. Well maybe it's just that all of them are so good that even the low point is still so great? I personally feel that the first film is the worst. Even though that movie is also good.
MI:2 is my personal favorite of the saga. Call me a 90's kid through and through if you like, but I love the rock and roll aspects of the film. The action is great, the villain is good, the girl is hot as hell. I just love this movie. It's my favorite.
Mistake status: I have not yet looked for any.
