Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars does not reach the greatness of the previous Lego Star Wars games, but I will say I really enjoyed a lot of this game. The levels were really exciting to play, and the game offers creative new abilities for its characters whether it is the Jedi, or it is the army. Another thing I really enjoy is exploring the ships when not playing any levels.

If I remember correctly Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes was the first Lego game to include dialogue; I have always preferred the lack of dialogue to using dialogue in the Lego games. That being said, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is still an extremely fun game to play. The best part of this game is how the game allows Batman and Robin to play in different variations of their suits and give them abilities, this offers many creative scenarios to play in. Another thing that makes this game work is the ability to play as other DC characters and use their abilities. The game also gives time for the best DC villains to have their moment in the game as well.

The Lego Harry Potter games are some of the most enjoyable and creative games the Lego games franchise have to offer. This first game offers tonnes of creative and original concepts that I did not expect to see in a Lego game, and made the experience all the more better for it. The concepts such as unlocking characters in the levels and open-world, replacing the minikits with Hogwarts house symbols and giving the characters a plethora of spells they can use were a pleasant surprise. Definitely among the best Lego games.

I have never committed a lot of my time to video game franchises, and I have not played many video games in recent years, but the Lego games were always a franchise I committed to during my childhood. Every year, I always remember anticipating the release of the next Lego game. And I have the fondest memories playing Lego Star Wars. The developers manage to recreate many of the locations and characters really well. The levels were always fun to play, and the creative obstacles and ways of using Lego kept me entertained for a long time. Also, one of the aspects that I have always appreciated from the earlier Lego games were the lack of dialogue. The more recent Lego games are still fun, but the use of dialogue just does not leave the same impact as the earlier Lego games.

Flatliners (2017)

Flatliners has promising moments in it. I liked the concept of the characters flatlining themselves to see if there is an afterlife, and the movie works best when it is trying to be this medical drama-thriller. However, the movie also suffers from an unbalanced tone, where it will go from medical drama-thriller to a jump scare horror movie, and a story about guilt and the movie falters because of it. The movie falters the most when it is revealed the effects of flatlining have consequences that affect them in the real world. It will go from this medical drama-thriller about flatlining and reviving themselves in search of the afterlife to a horror movie where the lives of the characters are being affected by the spirits of their past regrets due to flatlining; I could not take any of it seriously. Overall, some promising moments, but falls apart when the past regrets and consequences of flatlining storylines are introduced.

Rememory (2017)

I found myself a little underwhelmed with Rememory. The idea of a device used to record memories is a clever concept and the movie does a good job of establishing how it works. However, despite some good performances and a surprise twist, I felt that the movie was not the mind bender that it was trying to be; it lacked a sense of urgency and the storyline never felt gripping.

Now You See Me 2 (2016)

Now You See Me 2 was a movie I can say is definitely watchable; I can easily watch this movie to pass the time, however I did not think that this movie left the same impact as the first movie. The second movie manages to retain some of the things that made the first movie work; it has its moments of comedy and action and the characters are still fun to watch. However, I never felt the magic from that made the first movie work was not as present here. The storyline did not feel as engaging, some of the comedy and magic scenes fell flat, and on some occasions takes itself seriously, which did not feel right for this type of movie. Overall, Now You See Me 2 is a movie I can say is watchable, albeit not as effective as its predecessor.

Now You See Me (2013)

Now You See Me is one of my biggest guilty pleasure movies. There are some editing issues here and there, but the performances and premise keep it entertaining.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did not leave the same impact as its predecessor, but is still a really good follow-up nonetheless. The balance between comedy and drama was not as well done this time around, however, that does not take away from the fact that the characters are given well rounded arcs, characters I did not think that much of in the first movie leave an impact here, there is a lot of comedy that lands, and some emotional moments near the end that are truly heartfelt.

Casual Person

We're introduced us to five well rounded characters who all work off each other incredibly well and each have their moments to shine. The movie has comedy that lands on every single occasion, and truly emotional moments that are felt every single time I watch them.

Captain America: Civil War is among the best entries in the MCU. This movie succeeds one every level: The acting, the story, the writing, the characters, all done perfectly. The movie includes a large amount of characters in its cast without ever feeling overstuffed, explores the consequences of the actions of its heroes, divides its heroes and allows you to understand their motivations perfectly and manages to separate the humour with its serious moments.

Blade Runner (1982)

Blade Runner is one of my all time favourite movies. This movie includes my favourite futuristic setting of all time and I feel the atmosphere of this world dripping off the screen every time I watch it. This movie displays the impacts of technology and productivity on society and questions what really makes us human. The movie combines top notch acting, writing, directing, cinematography, effects, production design, sound and music to make a dark, engrossing, sci-fi classic.

Baby Driver (2017)

In all honesty, I cannot understand the love this movie is getting. In terms of the film making, it is really well done: The direction, editing, sound mixing, incorporation of music and car chase sequences are really well done.

That being said, I found the movie rather tone deaf, often varying from light hearted to serious. The main protagonist was pretty forgettable; they try to force a tragic back story to get me to care, but it came off as tedious and it is never explained how he became such a badass driver, so it became difficult for me to become invested in him. I also found it difficult to become invested in him because his characterization felt very simplified; he is basically a good guy with nothing bad about him, whilst everyone else is mostly bad.

The love interest was incredibly weak; she is only there to give Baby a love interest and never stands on her own. Her personality is simply she just wants to get out of here and she likes music, she makes life altering decisions like they are nothing and her emotions ranged from happy to tearful. There was simply nothing to invest myself in.

There are some elements I was invested in however, specifically the other characters in the heist crew. I found myself invested way more in them than I did Baby. However, they felt very under-utilized looking back on it and were just there to make Baby seem more innocent. In my honest opinion, I think the movie would have much stronger if it focused more on the relationship between Baby and the rest of the crew, rather than the love interest. Another thing I should mention, is the movie has way too many gaps in logic.

Overall, Baby Driver is definitely a competently and well-made movie, but admittedly never resonated with me.

Though I loved Rise and Dawn, I will admit I liked, but did not love War for the Planet of the Apes. The biggest praise I can give this movie, as well as the previous two, are the visual effects used to create the apes, including the motion capture performances to make their characters believable. Andy Serkis gives a great performance and I thought the character of Bad Ape offered some moments of humour. However, I did have some problems. First, the movie felt as if it lacked originality, the previous two felt like original stories, but this felt kinda derivative. The storyline was not as investing as the previous two. Another problem I had was that the human characters are almost pushed to the side, in the previous two, I grew a connection with both the human and ape sides, but in this movie, most of the humans felt like generic soldiers. I thought that the colonel and the soldier Preacher were humanised in some way, but that is really it. I also felt that the attempts at trying to be bleak felt kinda tedious. The emotional moments felt kinda flat in the first half, though the emotional moments were more effective in the second half. Overall, War was not as memorable or compelling as Rise or Dawn, but the visual effects and performances make this a serviceable conclusion to the trilogy.

The Little Cars in the Great Race is just an attempt to rip off Cars, and cash in on its success. Throughout the entire movie, I felt as if there was little to no effort put into it. The characters feel like they were carbon copies of the characters from Cars: The main character Cruise is a copy of Lightning McQueen, Lugnut is a copy of Mater, Mr. V8 feels like a copy of Doc Hudson, etc. Overall, the animation just looks mediocre and cheap and the writing and direction are uninspired. Pretty much nothing about this movie works.

The Simpsons Game (2007)

I love this game. The Simpsons Game offers various fun and action-packed levels to play, all of which were creative and different from each other, the game gives the main characters special abilities, all of which match their personalities perfectly, and even includes nice callbacks to the show and these callbacks are incorporated into the game very cleverly; it knows which parts to include which callback, and that was something I really liked. One last thing is the game is very funny as well, with clever jokes written into the game, but the jokes shine most with its satirical humour, making fun of common video game tropes.

The Greatest Showman did not work for me. It is clear that just about every single individual involved in the production of this movie, whether it is cast or crew, put all of their effort into it. The cast are very good singers and the choreography put into the musical sequences is outstanding.

However, I could not help but get this superficial feeling when watching it. The movie tries to deliver a heartfelt message and themes about equality and not being afraid to be different, but it ultimately lacks a sense of complexity or intelligence within itself for them to leave an impact, and the characterization felt really thin, despite the efforts of the cast.

The Greatest Showman is a well made movie, but the emotions it was trying to evoke never hit home for me, despite the work put into it.

Eye in the Sky (2015)

Eye in the Sky is an intense thriller, that gripped me from start to finish. The movie constantly had my heart racing thanks to taut direction and strong performances by Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, Aaron Paul and just about every other performance in the movie. I grew invested in each of the characters, which made the scenes where they had to make legitimately difficult decisions all the more intense. This movie made me question what I would do if I was in a situation like this, and when it ended, I felt emotionally broken after seeing everything that the characters had been through and the choices that they had made.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is a masterpiece of a game. The biggest compliment I can give to this game are the graphics and design; the setting of this game has been designed almost near perfectly. The graphics of the game felt so real, and I could not praise the attention to detail in the animation enough. It made me want to explore each singular detail of this game. GTA V also includes three likeable and well written protagonists in Franklin, Michael and Trevor, and all three work well into the world of Grand Theft Auto, as do the supporting characters, whether it be the rest of the DeSanta family, Lamar, Devin or the FIB agents. The gameplay was great, the game offered exciting missions to complete, and offers an open-world environment that was fun to explore when not doing missions. The game has a massive storyline, but is so engaging that I was always hooked whilst playing it. To conclude, Grand Theft Auto V is one of my favourite video games of all time, if not the favourite.

Starman (1984)

I really liked this movie. Jeff Bridges portrays the alien really extremely well, and I totally bought that his character was from a different world. As the movie progressed, I grew to care more and more for the two main leads. The movie tells a compelling story, whilst also incorporating some funny fish out of water scenes too. The only problem I had was that the government subplot was kinda forgettable, but that did not affect the movie as a whole.
