Factual error: When Doc and Lee are first engaged by Iraqi fighters, Lee has an F-4 on his tail, firing cannons located in both wings. Late model F-4s had an internal 20mm rotary cannon in the nose, and during the Vietnam war, under-wing gun pods were tried out, but there is no room within an F-4's wing for an internal cannon.

Factual error: When Lee is attempting to take out Serb/Croat mobile SAM launchers, he opts to fire Sidewinder missiles. The Sidewinder is an infra-red homing air to air missile that requires a heat source to lock onto. Knowing that there was the possibility of SAMs at the target area, his aircraft should have had a HARM loadout. The HARM locks on to the radar guidance system of a SAM launcher, and remembers where it is, even if it is then shut down.

The Trail (2013)

Factual error: The movie takes place in the early 1850's, referencing the rumor of gold in California. The girl, while rummaging through the wagon, comes across a pair of boots with zippers up the sides, zippers that wouldn't be invented for another 50 years.

The Sackett Brand

Plot hole: When Tell is shot and falls over the cliff, he loses his gun belt, which holds his bowie knife, and never recovers it. Later, when he slits open the tent, he talks about how his bowie knife is razor sharp, so sharp that he often shaved with it.

Operation Pacific (1951)

Factual error: The Thunderfish is closing on the Japanese I-boat, at under 6000 yards, Duke orders flank speed. The hydrophone operator on the I-boat would have to be deaf not to pick up the noise of Thunderfish's propellers at flank speed. For those pundits who claim that their sonar might be down, hydrophones are a passive listening system.

Operation Pacific (1951)

Continuity mistake: When Thunderfish engages the Japanese I-boat, the first range and bearing indicates that the sub is some 6000 yards distant. Less than a minute later, the range has dropped to 900 yards. That would mean that even if both vessels were on directly opposite courses, their combined closing speed would have to be in excess of 250 nautical miles per hour, impossibly.

Winds of War (1983)

The Changing of the Guard - S1-E6

Factual error: As Pug and Byron are readying themselves for dinner at the White House, they are discussing the Bismarck. Pug refers to the ship as a "pocket battleship", which it most definitely was not. As a navy captain, Pug should have known the difference between a pocket battleship like the Scheer or Graf Spee, and the real thing.

The Last Ship (2014)

Factual error: When Buddy and his girl are in his father's pickup, she turns the radio off, A few minutes pass, and when Buddy turns it back on, music starts playing instantly. However, even after a couple of minutes off, that old tube radio would take time to warm up.

Red Tails (2012)

Factual error: Me 262's were armed with 30 mm cannon in the nose, a round penetrating a canopy would leave a hole much larger than was depicted, and being high-explosive, once it detonated inside the cockpit, the pilot was toast. One of the red tails had a number of holes in his canopy.

Suggested correction: Reports suggest twenty mm cannon fire through the canopy will not inherently detonate and can pierce through. The 30 mm of the particular enemy craft however may be unique enough to differ, but is ambiguous then for now until someone finds new data. As for size, keep in mind the nature of how penetration does not look right and I believe care to not exaggerate the size not be taken. Personally am not aware of comparison enough to inform on true size.

Maximum Overdrive (1986)

Factual error: A big sign at the pumps states that diesel is priced at $1.089, yet when the trucks are being filled, the price per gallon is around 55 cents. In the 70's, when product reached the $1 mark, pumps were set to half price, and the customer paid double the total, but by 1987, the time frame of the movie, the pump computers would have been replaced to show true pricing.

Factual error: The events depicted in the movie occur around the time of the California gold rush in 1848, yet every man and his dog wields an 1873 Colt Peacemaker.

Factual error: Early in the movie, the loudspeaker announcer states that the Korean War was the #1 news item of 1951. Later in the movie it is announced that the night's movie is scheduled to be "The Glory Brigade" starring Victor Mature. However, that movie was released in May of 1953.
