Eagle Eye

Factual error: There is no possible way to cause a power line to drop from its support pylons and hit a person on target. These wires are fastened extremely securely, designed to withstand all kinds of weather, and are not equipped with explosive charges to release them.

Factual error: When they are arguing under the power lines, ARIA makes one of the power lines explode off the power line and kill someone. This is impossible as there is no way to pinpoint a surge of electricity to a single location like that. If anything were to happen at all during a surge a breaker or fuse would blow, however the wires would not snap and fall. Which brings me to the second point: there were no breakers or fuses where they were. Just to make it clear, no, those things holding up the wires on the power poles are just insulators keeping the wires from actually touching the power poles.

Factual error: Ethan Shaw is mentioned throughout the movie as graduating from the Air Force Academy, and also as a Lieutenant by other characters. When his brother Jerry Shaw is shown his brother's ID by ARIA (the eagle eye computer,) the ID shows Ethan Shaw as a SMSgt (Senior Master Sergeant). This is impossible by Air Force standards, even if he was a genius. It cannot be part of a fake cover as listing a 20-something year-old as a SMSgt would be so obviously fake as to be useless. No one in the Air Force would believe it and anyone competant enough to design ARIA and the infrastructure to accompany her would not make such a ridiculous mistake

A.R.I.A.: Jerry Shaw, you have been activated. Your compliance is vital.

Zoe Perez: You don't have a choice. Look. Now, neither of us know if either of those brothers are guilty or innocent, so on behalf of the Secretary of the Air Force, I'm going into that room.
Agent Thomas Morgan: Well, on behalf of all that fucking bomb equipment in junior pinhead's apartment, no, you're not.

Agent Thomas Morgan: If you're staring at me, it better be because I'm the suspect. If not, get back to work or I swear you're all demoted to something that involves touching shit with your hands!

Question: What was the real purpose of that short last scene of the movie? Our guess was that it was to advertise Rock Band. Anyone agree?

Chosen answer: I think it was to show that Jerry and Rachel maintained a friendship after it all. Also to maybe, maybe hint about some kind of romantic future in the way that Rachel says, "you remembered", when her ex-husband was said to never have remembered Sam's birthday. That's my thoughts - I think it's just to let us know how the characters turned out.

Question: What was the purpose of the man driving up to Jerry and Rachel and run off angrily, only to get roasted to a crisp by the telephone poles? This never made any sense to me.

Chosen answer: I'm pretty sure it's to prove to the people watching the movie and to both Jerry and Rachel what can happen if they disobey, as after this event they followed the orders from ARIA closely.

Question: Why when they showed them being video taped was the date always 1-26-09? Was it supposed to be the future?

Chosen answer: Yes, the movie is supposed to be set in Jan. 2009.
