The Paper

Visible crew/equipment: During the opening tracking shot through the newsroom of The Sun, the camera track on the ceiling can be seen.

Continuity mistake: During the scene with everyone in Henry Hackett's office (prior to the gunshot), the pad of paper that Carmen is holding jumps from one hand to the other and back again.

Continuity mistake: When Carmen and Wilder are arguing in Henry's office, Carmen's badge keeps flipping from front to back a couple times, without her touching it, sometimes between shots.

Trivia: Many of the extras on the film were actual NYC journalists (reporters, columnists, and editors). One was Donna Hanover, a former reporter who, at the time, was married to NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Alicia: We're not exactly the Washington Post, okay?
Michael McDougal: No, we're not. We run stupid headlines because we think they're funny. We run maimings on the front page because we got good art. And I spend three weeks bitching about my car because it sells papers. But at least it's the truth. As far as I can remeber we never ever, ever knowingly got a story wrong, until tonight.

Bernie: You got a cop quote?
Henry: A what?
Bernie: Quote. You know, they talk, you write, we print?

Henry: What if these aren't the guys? What if they're innocent?
Alicia: Taint them today, we make them look good on Saturday. Everybody's happy.
Henry: Wait. This is a story that could permanently alter the public's perception of two teenagers who might be innocent and as a weekend bonus, ignite another race war. How about that? Think about this.
