Continuity mistake: During the whole scene where Tess says good-bye to her colleagues, up to the moment when she gets out of the elevator, drops her stuff and picks it up her hair is messy and straggly. When she gets up and sees Katherine it's perfectly done up. (01:34:20)
Working Girl (1988)
Directed by: Mike Nichols
Starring: Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Kevin Spacey, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Cusack, Melanie Griffith
Continuity mistake: From Katherine's office there is a beautiful view on a waterway (New Yorkers will know the name). In every scene there there is a lot of discontinuity regarding the ships and ferries appearing and disappearing, especially when Tess comes to the office the second time to take some notes. (00:16:10)
Audio problem: When Tess meets up with her boss toward the end at the helipad, notice that the helicopter engine sound is playing, but the props aren't turning. Helicopters blades always turn if the engines are running, just like an airplane.
Trivia: Catherine tosses a huge black gorilla to Tess as she gets off the helicopter. This was an inside joke reference to "Gorillas in the Mist" which Sigourney Weaver had just finished filming and was released only three months before this movie.
Trivia: You can see a quick cameo by Ricki Lake in the wedding reception dance scene. She is the bridesmaid that Jack asks for information about nicknames for the girl that is dancing with Trask at the time.
Trivia: A then unknown Kevin Spacey has a cameo early in the film. He plays Bob Speck-the guy that Tess has an "interview" with in the limo. This is also one of the last films that you can see his large cheek mole in. He had it removed between See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Dad. Now all that remains is a small scar that can be seen when caught in the proper lighting.
Alice Baxter: Maybe now would be a good time to go over what you expect of me.
Tess McGill: I expect you to call me Tess. I don't expect you to fetch me coffee unless you're getting some for yourself. And the rest we'll just make up as we go along.
Katherine Parker: Ugh! What a slob.
Tess McGill: You were so smooth with him.
Katherine Parker: Never burn bridges. Today's junior prick, tomorrow's senior partner.
Cyn: Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will.
Question: If Jack and Katherine were a couple, how is it that Jack doesn't recognize Katherine's office when he goes there to confirm him and Tess to start working on the Trask deal?
Answer: Unless Katherine had recently moved to a new office, which it does not appear that she did, then Jack should know this was her office. However, it is also possible that he had just never been there before and they only saw each other outside of work. When Jack went to see Tess, he had a specific business reason for going there.

Answer: It is also stated in the movie that Katherine just transferred down from Boston, and she is staying at her parents house. She also mentions in another scene that her and Jack are now in the same city. Plus Tess helps plan her welcome party to get to know others in her department indicating that she is new there. Maybe Jack had not got a chance to visit her office yet, which would explain why he would not have known.
