Revealing mistake: After the girls have seen the boys skinny dipping in the pond and have stolen their clothes, the boys run after them. Devon Sawa bends down to pick up his underwear but you can see he has a flesh coloured "modesty pouch" on under his towel, when he is supposed to be naked.
Continuity mistake: When Roberta is punching the bully, in one shot Scott trips to the floor in the crowds yet in the next shot he's standing. (00:51:50)
Visible crew/equipment: When Sam pulls up outside Chrissy's house, watch as she opens her door, and you can see silver dolly tracks and a thick black wire reflected in the door. (00:05:25)
Revealing mistake: When Sam discovers the pages have been torn out of the Shelby newspaper book, the exact same text is printed on each part of the torn page. (00:41:45)
Audio problem: When Teeny and Sam are on the swings, talking with Chrissy and Roberta, a few lines of Teeny and Sam's dialouge is either out of sync or completely dubbed with/over their lip movements. Also, in one shot Teeny is heard laughing, yet her mouth is closed tight. (00:08:45 - 00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: During the shots through the softball game, the position of the people sitting on the fence in the background, the cows behind the fence, the large lorry etc., change. (00:51:00)
Continuity mistake: When the girls stop by the tree to take a break, as she turns off the radio, Teeny changes from standing to the left of her bike, to standing over her bike frame, with one leg either side. (00:31:20)
Continuity mistake: When the girls ride away from the wormers, after stealing their clothes, Teeny throws some underwear into the air. However in the previous shot she put all the clothes she was holding into the basket on Samantha's bike, because her bike has no basket. (00:37:35)
Revealing mistake: Sam and Teeny clearly look down at their actor marks as they walk to Sam's Grandma's door. (01:09:45)
Visible crew/equipment: When Roberta runs over to the limo, to talk to the driver about letting her use the limo to get to the hospital, there is a microphone bobbing around, perfectly reflected on the limo windshield. (01:25:30)
Continuity mistake: When the girls are smoking with the War Veteran, in one wideshot Teeny blows out a mouthful of smoke, but in the next closeup of her there is no smoke in front of her. (00:44:40)
Continuity mistake: When the girls enter Sam's Grandma's house, the position of the dress hanging over the bench, indoors, near the door, changes. (01:10:00)
Revealing mistake: When the girls are looking at Sam's mum out of the window, Teeny (Thora Birch) briefy looks over at the camera. (00:18:10)
Continuity mistake: When Roberta is fighting the boy at the game, in one shot she's pulling back her right hand to backhand him across the face and then the next its her hand is pulled back to punch him.
Other mistake: When the girls are in the diner and Chrissy is counting money, you see a picture of the tree house in a tree, it is the same tree as the one the girls use after they buy the tree house.
Continuity mistake: When Sam is in the cemetery with Crazy Pete near the end, the rolling fog is inconsistent between each shot. (01:21:45)
Visible crew/equipment: When Teeny arrives at Chrissy's, at the beginning of the film, a boom mic is reflected in the window of the limo door she gets out of. (00:06:40)
Factual error: In the tree house Sam and Teeny are talking about families and mention the Partridge Family. "The Partridge Family" would not debut until September 1970, but the movie is set in the summer of 1970.
Continuity mistake: When the girls ride away and scatter the boys' clothes on the ground, a truck is visible on the road in the background. When the boys run after the girls, the truck is gone.
Continuity mistake: The level of coke in Chrissy's bottle keeps lowering/rising, as they talk in the diner. (00:19:25)
Answer: There are two different men named Peter. In the shot of the newspaper while Roberta is reading the article, it states that the driver of the pickup truck was Peter Norris (00:41:35). Then Sam finds the article about 12 year old Jonathan Simms and his mother, Beverly Ann, so we know that "Crazy Pete" is Peter Simms (00:43:00).
