The Mummy mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Brendan Fraser and the Americans are talking in the bar before the water turns to blood, there is a shot of two of the Americans and Fraser. Off to the left, you can see a hand dip in and out of frame. This is the First AD's hand. The director said he was checking his watch. (01:10:55)

Suggested correction: If you look closely, Rick actually knocked a lamp off the table when he throws Beni on it, and it hit the ground and popped... hence the flash of light and "clink" sound. You can briefly see it in this video at about 34 seconds in, right as Beni hits the table. It's a sort-of gold color and it's right behind Rick and Beni. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL3zacTLLJQ.

Visible crew/equipment: In the shot where our heroes are climbing down into the tomb for the first time you can see Brendan Fraser holding the handle of a wire which was removed digitally. This is even mentioned in the director's commentary on the DVD.

Visible crew/equipment: When O Connell is talking about not getting mummified, Imhotep's sarcophagus comes crashing through the ceiling. On a close up shot immediatly following you can see a red wire wrapped around the box and leading up into the air which means the box was guided down so it would fall straight and flat.

Visible crew/equipment: In the opening action-scene, as Rick backs away from the wall when the raiders start to leap over, there's a shot behind him where the camera pulls back... and you can see a near-perfect row of white markers (likely for the extras or actors) in the sand. There's at least five of them in a line.

Visible crew/equipment: In the opening action scene, when the raiders start firing their guns towards the French Foreign Legion, there's a wide-shot of several French troops being killed, and a few of them fall over a balcony to their death. As some of the soldiers on the left side of screen fall of screen and land behind some piles of sand, you can briefly see the edge of an air bag (or some other form of padding) pop up a few times with each one. Visible crew/equipment: In the beginning of the film, when Ardeth Bay is first seen and talking about how "We, the Medjai, the descendants of pharaoh's bodyguards, kept watch," look closely. You can see the shadow of the camera move up Ardeth's horse's head as it closes in on him.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jonathan picks up the scarab, it breaks open and the beetle inside starts to crawl under his skin. We see Brendan Fraser tear Jonathan's shirt and cut the beetle out of him. However, in the very next scene, we see Jonathan walking into the temple, his shirt is intact and there is no blood to be seen. (01:37:05 - 01:38:30)

Evelyn: You know, nasty little fellows such as yourself always get their comeuppance.
Beni: They do?

Trivia: In the scene where Evie wakes up to find a rat on her chest she screams and rolls over and the rat then lands on the female mummy. According to the commentary on the DVD the rat wasn't meant to land on the girl playing the mummy, who was only the make-up lady. As soon as it landed on her she jumped up screaming.

Chosen answer: The tattoos on his forehead are the Egyptian Hieroglyphs that spell "Underworld", and the ones on his cheeks are the Egyptian Hieroglyphs for the word "truth." All Medjai males get these tattoos as part of the coming-of-age rite, when they turn sixteen, of which the most important is the tattoo on their right wrist (which Rick O'Connell also has) that marks them as "warriors for God." Other tattoos specific to Medjai males are on their arms, forearms, hands, pectorals, shoulder blades and beneath the navel - the tattoos on the nose and chin are no longer used, since the time of Seti I. Medjai females only get the wrist tattoo when they come of age, but are not marked with any of the other symbols that are particular to men. Fun fact: If the Medjai - male and female alike - shows any sign of pain or cries during the tattooing process, it is considered that they have brought shame to their family.
