Continuity mistake: Before the start of the last basketball game, when Ned (wearing a "cloak of invisibility") calls out to Jane, the people surrounding the seated principal change depending on the angle of the shot. For example, in the shot facing Jane there is guy in a green hoodie, wearing a bandana on his head, that disappears in the side shot. (01:29:35)
Continuity mistake: At court, after "Mark" reads the supposed letter from Mike, he drops the paper onto the box. When Scarlet picks it up and sees that it is merely directions to the courthouse, its writing differs. The direction of the folds in the paper also change from when Scarlet picks it up and the next close-up. (01:25:50)
Continuity mistake: When Alex and Mike are seated for lunch in the school cafeteria, Mike's sunglasses hang on his t-shirt collar then appear on the table and continue to change position on the table, beside the food tray. (00:36:15)
Continuity mistake: When Mike returns to Hayden searching for the 'janitor', as he is speaking to the real janitor saying, "There's an older guy with white hair...," Mike's black sunglasses are in his left hand, but when it cuts back to the close-up it's back in his right hand. (00:22:55)
Continuity mistake: After Ned shows up for the '89 team photo, in the shot facing the team when he and Mike are walking over to their places, players 23 and 24 are kneeling as Mike passes them. In the next shot facing the photographer, those two teammates are walking behind Mike just before kneeling. Coach Murphy also moves from beside the last teammate to behind and has thrown the ball to Mike, between the shots as well. (00:01:50)
Continuity mistake: Near the end, when Mike is warming up in the gym, just as Coach Murphy says, "Hey, Gold," as he's walking in there is one basketball on the top tier of the rack (the last ball Mike takes is from the bottom tier), but when Coach Murphy says, "Got a little inside info...," the top tier is empty. Continuity mistake: When Principal Masterson and Ned are driving to Ned's house, just as they are driving behind the teenagers, in the interior shot from the POV of the back seat the rearview mirror is gone from the windshield, yet it is visible in the previous and following shots. (01:17:05)
Continuity mistake: During Ned's attack on Mike, Ned pulls the rug out from under his friend, after which the rug lies bunched up on the floor near the front door. As the scene plays out the rug's position changes between shots, particularly after Ned kicks Mike in the groin when Mike falls on his back with the rug under him. (00:20:40)
Continuity mistake: When Ned falls over the upstairs banister in his house, Mike leaps over and lands on the rug beside Ned's head. After Mike says, "I feel great," his feet are on the patterned rug, but next shot he is standing farther back - note the rug's pattern (just before Ned pulls it out from under him). (00:19:05)
Continuity mistake: Before the '89 basketball game, in the first shot of Mike joining the cheerleaders on court, the bare chested guy wearing a Native American headdress is dancing beside the free throw lane, near the backboard. Continuity mistake: At the start, while the cheerleaders are doing their thing center court, before Mike joins them he is standing with his arm on Ned's shoulder, leaning on him. Continuity mistake: In the gym at the start, when Mike is shooting baskets by himself (before the team photo) he is standing beside a 3-tier basketball rack, off which he grabs the basketballs for warming up. There is shot from behind him as he reaches for a ball and the top tier is empty, but in the next front shot the top tier is full, then as Coach Murphy walks in the top tier is empty again. Continuity mistake: At the start in the gym, when Mike is alone shooting baskets (before the team photo) he is standing at the center of the 3-point line, but in each of the overhead close-ups of the hoop we see Mike's reflection in the backboard (top right) and he is standing closer to the hoop, on the free throw line - note the dark free throw lane. Continuity mistake: During the scene where Mike smashes his boss' earpiece, in the splitsecond shot when Mike smashes it he has a notable shadow beneath his hand. When the boss looks at it, no shadow whatsoever. (00:09:40)
