Continuity mistake: When Megatron sarcastically asks Sam, "You remember me, don't you?" Sam stops on the landing between the two flights of stairs and puts his hands up, but in the next shot Sam, whose hands are still in mid-air, is standing much farther down on the second flight of stairs. Continuity mistake: After Sam's rescue from the Decepticon doctor's brain surgery, when Optimus transforms we see Sam rolling on the ground near the trees and in the next shot he gets up and runs behind the trees as Optimus shouts, "Hide, Sam!" However, in the next shot Sam is still rolling on the ground. (00:59:20)
Continuity mistake: During the forest scene where Optimus Prime is engaged in a battle to the death, Sam is scrambling for safety. In some of the shots both of his hands are uninjured, but in other shots you can see that his left hand is bandaged/splinted. (This is a result of his "real life" injury in a car accident during filming.) (01:00:05)
Continuity mistake: When Optimus is shot in the battle in the forest, he loses one of the chrome bumpers on his chest, and the other one is heavily damaged. The latter one is attached to HIS right side. But in the shot where he says: ''Sam. run.'', the bumper is attached to the left side of his chest. (01:01:15 - 01:03:05)
Continuity mistake: When Megatron stabs Optimus through his back, Optimus' elbow is scratched, but clean. When Megatron lifts him, there are big chunks of grass on his elbow. (01:02:20)
Continuity mistake: When Sam, Mikaela and Leo arrive at Simmons's deli, in the exterior shot the deli has a single front door with its glass covered, and bars on the store's windows. However, when Sam walks in and when Simmons tries to walk away from Sam, we see there are double front doors with a meat poster on one, and there are no bars outside of the store's window. Continuity mistake: At the deli, when Sam, Mikaela and Leo are talking to Simmons, his mother shouts, "Moron, where's the white fish?" and there are four cans on the meat counter, but when it cuts to close-up there are only three. (01:16:10)
Continuity mistake: When they're all in the secret room below the deli's meat locker, Simmons places the photos of the symbols in China, Egypt and Greece, and their positions change in the consecutive shots. (01:17:40)
Continuity mistake: In the secret room below the deli's meat locker, when Mikaela asks Wheelie for help, Wheelie looks at the first photos of the "language of the Primes", and the positions of the photos change in the following overhead shot though nobody has touched them. (01:19:35)
Continuity mistake: In the secret room below the deli's meat locker, when Wheelie explains that the symbols are the "language of the Primes", Sam picks up two photos, but both photos don't just switch hands as stated in another entry, one changes entirely. In the fist shot Sam holds a photo of a jet, but in the close-up he holds a photo of an old plane, then in the following shot it's back to the jet. (01:19:45)
Continuity mistake: In the basement of the deli, Sam holds two photos of Seekers, one in each hand. The image of the car and plane switch hands and back again in different shots. (01:19:55)
Continuity mistake: Before heading into the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, when Simmons pulls the taser out of his bag and turns it on he holds it in his right hand, but in Leo's close-up as he starts to freak out, the taser's in Simmons's left hand, then it's back in Simmons's right hand, between shots. (01:20:40)
Continuity mistake: When Leo walks out of the bathroom with his pants down saying, "Ran out of toilet paper, you got any out here?", the security guard behind him is walking towards him, at the right of the airplane. Next shot that security guard behind him is to the left of the airplane. (01:20:55)
Continuity mistake: At the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar, the entire information booth that is directly behind Jetfire (it was seen close-up when Leo walked out of the bathroom with his pants down) has vanished as he exclaims, "Behold the eternal glory of Jetfire!" (01:21:00)
Continuity mistake: In the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Simmons grabs a leather flight jacket, puts it on and when he stands perfectly still between two mannequins his fur collar is first flipped up then flat down, between shots. (01:21:15)
Continuity mistake: After Leo uses the taser on the security guard in the bathroom, the guard is sprawled out on the floor with his left arm lying beside him and the TP roll above his arm, but next shot the guard's arm is up parallel to his shoulder, with the TP roll now between his arm and torso. (01:21:30)
Continuity mistake: At the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, when Mikaela, Sam and Simmons follow Wheelie they reach Jetfire's enclosure with the large information plaque attached to the metal front bar, as Wheelie faces them. Next shot, that whole front horizontal bar is gone along with the information plaque, and Wheelie now faces Jetfire. Then when the Cube shard attaches itself to Jetfire the metal horizontal bar reappears, though the large plaque is still gone, and that bar vanishes once again in the shot from under Jetfire. (01:22:35)
Continuity mistake: As Jetfire transforms, Simmons orders everyone to hide by the Mig, and as they run to it the tall lighting pole is positioned in the open area between Jetfire's enclosure and two red-trimmed glass showcases. But when Jetfire begins to ask, "What sort of hideous mausoleum is this?" that tall pole is now between the two showcases and there are metal posts with red rope suddenly surrounding it. Then when Jetfire breaks out of the hangar, the lighting pole and metal posts have all vanished. (01:23:05)
Continuity mistake: Just after Jetfire's transformation, when he shouts, "Answer me, pawns and knaves!" he pushes the yellow Naval sea-plane (44), which hangs from the ceiling, out of the way. First problem is that we see it breaking apart and hear it crashing, yet we don't see any pieces anywhere in following shots. Second, when Wheelie mentions that Jetfire hasn't aged well, that sea-plane is back up where it was. (01:23:25)
Continuity mistake: After Jetfire's transformation, when he snipes, "You little spinal-cord-based organisms," he knocks the Mercury capsule and it falls. In the shot facing Jetfire, as it rolls toward Sam and the others, Jetfire is no longer standing within his enclosure, he is actually to the left of it. However, in the next shot as the Mercury capsule rolls toward Sam, the teenager is standing directly in front of the enclosure's bars. (01:23:30)
Chosen answer: He knows from stories passed down to him from older generations of bots, not much unlike stories about the past passed down to us from our ancestors. His line about no one telling him anything is just a way to avoid being put back in the box or being tortured by Mikayla.
