Other mistake: When Chozen is buying vegetables from the villagers, one of the weights from the scale is knocked onto the ground. Daniel picks it up and realises that its not a real weight and breaks it in half. If Chozen wanted to cheat the villagers when he weighed their vegetables, he would need weights that were heavier than normal, not lighter plastic ones. Lighter weights would mean that Chozen would need to add far more of the light weights to make any amount of vegetables balance out, therefore he would be paying more for the vegetables than they are worth.

Suggested correction: Chozen wasn't such a dirty cheater. He wanted to earn slightly more than he should. No mistake at all.

Sato owned the village and the land, and leased it to the villagers. As the villagers grow crops and harvest them to sell, they might pay a fee to Sato based on how much they produce. Sato isn't likely buying all of that food from the people. That's the only way the weight scene makes sense.

Chozen is selling vegetables to the villagers, as evidenced by the large wad of cash in his hands. So if each weight is marked 1/2 pound, but in actuality is 1/4 pound, a true pound of vegetables would read as two pounds therefore he was cheating them.

Chozen is not selling, he's buying, evidence by the fact he gives money from his wad of cash to another villager. And the old man with the carrots is having his goods weighed so that Chozen can buy them. But the mistake is valid for the information we're given. There's no way he'd be able to cheat the villagers at all or earn just a little more than he should.

Question: Why does Sato's nephew Chozen take an immediate dislike to Daniel?

Answer: Miyagi and Sato were once close friends who became bitter enemies when they loved the same woman; Chozen's instant dislike of Daniel is simply because Daniel is the student of his uncle's enemy.
