Question: What was the significance of the letters Elizabeth took from Beckett that he signed and what happened to them?
Answer: They are letters of marque which state Elizabeth and Will are released from the charges originally placed against them at the beginning of the film. Norrington steals the letters from Jack's jacket pocket and signs his name, thus clearing his charges. This is mentioned in the final scene between Norrington and Beckett. This is why Norrington can serve the East India Trading Company in the third movie.
Question: In the first movie, a female pirate joined Jack's Crew who was called Anamaria. In this movie, she wasn't in the movie. Is there any explanation why she wasn't in this movie?
Chosen answer: No. Most likely Zoe Saldana, who took on larger roles after appearing in the first movie, was simply unavailable for what would only have been a minor supporting role. As for an in-universe explanation of what happened to Anamaria, none has been given.
Question: Before Davy Jones played the dice game, he asked Will how he knew about the key. How did Jack Sparrow know about the key?
Answer: Jack came into possession of a drawing of a key after killing the warden of the Turkish prison that he infiltrated. All he knew was that the real key would open a chest containing something valuable. He then went to see Tia Dalma, who told him that the key opened Davy Jones' chest containing his heart.
Question: Did i miss something? In the 1st pirates movie, the pirate with the glass eye tried to get rid of Jack and his crew. But in this movie they are part of his crew. I know they sneaked onto the ship, but nobody who saw them questioned them or recognized them as the pirates who tried to kill them before.
Chosen answer: Pintel and Ragetti (the one with the wooden eye) are pirates. They are basically loyal to themselves and adapt to whatever the situation is that best serves their own purpose, rather than out of loyalty to anyone else. They'll serve under whoever offers the best motive or profit for doing so. The same goes for the captains. If they need a crew, they will utilize whoever is available at the moment, even if they know they've been disloyal in the past, as was the case when Jack allowed them back on his ship. This is a bit of a "running gag" in the series that the characters are constantly betraying one another.
Question: In the first movie, when Elizabeth falls off the wall, you hear Jack telling the guards "and then they made me their chief." Does this mean that he has been to the island before? Will they explain this further in the third movie?
Answer: Yes, this is the same island (Pelegosto) Jack was telling the two marines about. That is why he is able to (somewhat) speak the natives' language. The film's writers confirm this in the DVD commentary. It's also a reference to the Fast Show, a favourite of Johnny Depp.
Question: In the corrections page one supposed mistake was about Barbossa's monkey becoming cursed once again. Is it possible that the monkey somehow resurrected Barbossa? If not then how did Barbossa come back?
Answer: No explanation has been given yet as to how Barbossa was resurrected. However, since the monkey has been with the Black Pearl's crew, it seems unlikely it helped Barbossa. We only know that Tia Dalma has played some part in bringing him back. When Jack and the crew first visited Tia Dalma, there's a brief shot of the monkey running into the bedroom. A man's legs can be seen on the bed. Presumably this was the recuperating Barbossa.
Question: At the end of the film, when Jack dies, one of Davy Jones' crewmembers says, "Not even Jack Sparrow could best the devil," and suddenly Jones becomes worried and demands to see the heart in the chest. Why did he get so worried?
Chosen answer: Jones knows that Sparrow is a cunning adversary - while he knows that the Kraken has taken Jack into the Locker, his crewmember's words have suddenly put an element of doubt in his mind. Has he really beaten Jack completely, or has Jack pulled off some last minute trick involving the heart to spite him? Hence his sudden desire to check on the heart, to make sure that it's safe.
Question: What is it that Jack Sparrow wants more than the Dead Mans Chest, the thing that his compass is pointing to?

Question: Besides in "Treasure Island," is there and actual legend about the black spot? If so, is it in any available anthologies?
Answer: People who were believed to be pirates would be sent a piece of paper with a black spot in the middle, saying that they would be killed soon.
Answer: It is believed that Stevenson made up the Black Spot specifically for Treasure Island.
Question: What was the black spot on Jacks hand all about? Was it the beginning of a mutation like Davy Jones's crew or was it something else? Also, why did Jack's crew do spins when they saw it?
Answer: The black spot means he is a marked man. It originated in the book Treasure Island. It is just showing that Davy Jones it after him. The reason Gibbs spins and spits is for luck, the reason Pintel and Regetti do it (according to the book) is because they saw Gibbs do it and so they do it just in case it will help them.
Question: Could someone please tell me how Will planned to get out of the dice game should he have lost without his father's help? Maybe I'm missing something but the whole thing seemed poorly thought out. I mean he goes into the game betting his eternal service against the key just to find out where the key is? If he was trapped on the ship forever, getting the key to Jack or anyone would be impossible so that would be no good. Again my main question is, how was Will planning to get out of the game? Could you also point out any points in his plan should I have forgotten to list them?
Answer: All he needed was to find out the where the key was. If he found it, and unlocked the box with it, then he (and Jack) would be free. Remember, they had a few days before Davey Jones called in the debts, so he wouldn't have been enslaved right away.
Question: When the crew is at Tia Dalma's, what does Jack mean when he says "My eyesight's as good as ever, just so you know" after Mr. Gibbs, Pintel, and Raghetti do the superstitious spin thing?
Answer: He thinks it looks like herpes. So to make sure nobody else thinks he's got an STD he says 'my eyesight is as good as ever'. Herpes is known to cause loss of vision.
Answer: When the Black Spot on Jack's palm is revealed, Gibbs, Pintel, and Ragetti, all being superstitious types, panic and, each in turn, spin around spitting and chanting, "The Black Spot!" in an attempt to ward off its evilness. Jack's retort was implying that they did not need to overstate the obvious.
Question: When the crew are in the two cages hanging down and then start climbing up the side, Will is talking about getting to the black pearl. Someone in the other cage says something like, "actually it can be done with six", followed by "oh dear". All the men in both cages suddenly start climbing frantically. What was said exactly and what was the joke?
Answer: Will says that once they escape and get back to the Black Pearl, it will take all of them to sail the ship. Leech, the pirate in the other cage, corrects him, saying that, actually, a minimum of six men could crew it. Leech's, "Oh dear," comment is when he and everyone simultaneously realise that whoever escapes first will take control of the ship. Will, Gibbs, and the rest of Jack's crew know that Leech and the other pirates have no loyalty to Sparrow, and if they commandeer the Black Pearl, they'll strand everyone else on the island. It then becomes a race to reach the cliff top first.
Answer: Will says "we'll need all the men to launch the pearl" Leech corrects him saying they'd only need about six. Both cages realise that they only need one cage, and can leave the others to die. This is why Leech says "oh, dear." And why he tries to continue to climb up after the tribesmen appears on the bridge. Will, most likely wouldn't have left the others though.
Question: In the trailer there is a scene where we see Will possibly on the island where he is reunited with Elizabeth and he says "Where's Jack, I can't leave without him. Never mind let's go." This scene does not occur in the movie but Will does say almost the same thing but he says, "time to go". Why is it different?
Answer: Trailers often use different takes to the finished film, as the film itself is rarely finalised at the point where they're publicising it. In this case, they ultimately decided to use a different take where Will uses different wording.
Question: Was any explanation given as to why Anna Maria (Zoe Saldana) was eliminated from the Black Pearl's crew and also from the movie series? Female pirates weren't uncommon. I'd like to know why Disney deleted this interesting character.
Chosen answer: Without asking Disney directly, we may not know, but Zoe Saldana has made many films since the first Pirates movie, generally playing one of the lead roles - the most likely explanation is that she chose to focus on those projects and thus was unable to find a gap in her schedule to play a relatively minor character in Dead Man's Chest.
Question: Why doesn't the Interceptor fight back against the Dutchman and the Pearl?
Answer: I'm assuming you're actually referring to Beckett's ship the Endeavour in the third film "At World's End." (The Interceptor was destroyed in the first film.) If that's the case, the ship is simply outgunned and the captain Beckett freezes and doesn't make any commands. He doesn't know what to do because there's no way he could win. The call is then made to abandon ship. Hence, they don't fight back.
Answer: Because he helped his daughter Elizabeth escape jail and Port Royal.
