Continuity mistake: In the scene where Avner shoots the first Palestinian, the dead man falls forward onto his groceries, but the next time the body is seen, he is lying on his back.

Munich (2005)
Ending / spoiler
Directed by: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Daniel Craig, Eric Bana, Ciaran Hinds, Mathieu Kassovitz, Marie-Josee Croze
Of the original team, only Steve (Daniel Craig) and Avner (Eric Bana) survive. After failing to kill Ali Hassan, they end their mission and Avner goes to Brooklyn to see his wife and child. Increasingly unstable and haunted by the Munich massacre, (and one assumes, his own guilt) he meets with Ephraim (Geoffrey Rush) and asks for evidence that the men he killed were responsible for Munich. Ephraim says that they were and in either case, that while they were alive Jews would die. He asks Avner to return to Israel, but Avner refuses and they walk off in separate directions. Then message appears on screen saying:"Nine of the eleven palasterian terrorists who were targeted for assasination were killed.Including Ali Hassen in 1979"
Trivia: In this film, the word 'Sabra' is used a few times. Sabra means a Jewish person who was actually born in Israel, and not one born in another country who then later moved to the Holy Land.

Answer: Avner had refused Ephraim's request that he return to Israel and Mossad. When Avner invited Ephraim to dinner to break bread, it was a symbolic gesture to make peace between them. Ephraim's refusal indicates they will never reconcile their differences.
