The Gift

In a bayou near Savannah lives Annie Wilson, a widow with three sons with the gift of being clairvoyant. Not long after she become threatened by Donnie Barksdale, the abusive husband of a client, a promiscuous daughter of a prominent citizen and fiancee of a school principal, Jessica King turns up missing. Annie leads the police to the Donnie's pond where Jessica's dead body turns up. During and after the trail, Annie must sort through the troubles her gift has caused her, her attraction for Jessica's ex-fiancee, a crises involving a mentally challenged client, and if her Gift is trying to show her more than what she sees.

Other mistake: Early in the film, Valerie Barksdale (Hillary Swank) visits Annie Wilson (Cate Blanchett) for a psychic reading. Valerie has been severely beaten by her husband, and her badly black and blue eye is swollen shut. A day or two later she visits Annie again. Amazingly her eye appears to have completely healed, even though the other marks on her face are still visible.

Buddy: You have to tell me, and you have to tell me now.
Annie: I'll tell you, hun.
Buddy: If I look into a blue diamond, and I think a negative thought, am I gonna die?
Annie: No, you're not gonna die. You're not gonna die, Buddy.

Question: When Annie and her boys are coming home from the neighbour's place, next door, there's a blue light coming from the main bedroom. Leaving her boys, Annie goes into the house and there is all this noise that sounds like a radio not completely tuned in, of an evangelist preaching really loudly. Now, where is all this noise coming from: Annie's mind, Donnie's car radio parked outside? Or is it just for our benefit?
