Question: Near the end of the movie, Obi-wan does not seem at all convinced that Darth Vader has any good left in him. But in "Return of the Jedi", Vader tells Luke that Obi-wan once thought as Luke does (regarding the possibility of Vader being redeemed). What was he referring to?
Chosen answer: It is explained that in a duel between Asajj Ventress and Anakin Skywalker, Ventress manages to strike Anakin across the face, she does this to prove that she could kill him at will (she claims she could have as easily beheaded him) Anakin defeats her however, forcing Ventress to flee.
Question: When some Jedi die, they disappear (Yoda, Obi-wan). When others die, they don't (Qui-gon, Vader). Why is that? I thought this phenomenon would be explained in this movie, but unless I missed something, no explanation was given.
Chosen answer: Powerful force users seem to have some degree of control over their bodies even after death. In the later series, Luke's wife Mara Jade Skywalker only allows her body to disappear when her killer, and nephew Jacen Solo arrives at her funeral as a clue. Thus it appears that a powerful force user can simply choose if they wish their body to disappear.
Answer: Towards the end of the movie Yoda tells Obi Wan that Qui Gon has learned the path to imortality and offers to teach this to Obi Wan. In the Clone Wars TV series we see the journey Yoda takes to learn this power. The power to become one with the force is a power you have to learn as opposed to being achievable to all Jedi. Both yoda and Obi Wan has the years between ROTS and ANH/ESB to fine tune and master this power. It is possible that Darth Vader, having seen Obi Wan become one with the force, spent the following years after A New Hope, studying and learning this skill by himself, hence how he was able to appear as a force ghost towards the end of Return of the Jedi, but not quite skilled enough to dissapear on cue.
Question: Is it possible, or even probable, that Palpatine was somehow responsible for Shmi Skywalker's pregnancy? When talking about Darth Plagius who could create life it's implied that Palpatine was the apprentice and knows the power too.
Chosen answer: Plagueis taught Palpatine everything he knew, even his knowledge of midi-chlorian manipulation (though Palpatine could not master the skill) and roughly ten years before the events of The Phantom Menace, Palpatine and Plagueis attempted to create a super-being via midi-chlorian manipulation which inadvertently resulted in Anakin's conception (Plagueis theorised the conception was the Force "striking back" for their unnatural use of it) Thus inadvertently Palpatine is indeed responsible for Anakin's conception.
Question: Why is it that when Palpatine-Sidious gets zapped by his lightning his face wrinkles, but when Luke gets zapped in Return of the Jedi, he remains relatively unscathed?
Answer: Palpatine was using relatively weak (but still painful) bursts of lightning on Luke as a means of torture, wanting Luke to suffer before he died. When he attacked Windu, he used powerful bursts of lightning, trying to kill him and thus ravaged his own body by the reflected attack. Or as some sources indicate, the "damage" was Palpatine's true form, which he had been hiding with the force, and reverted to this form to sell the act that he was "too weak" as he expressed.
Question: Not sure if it's a mistake: When Anakin is turning to the dark side, after killing Windu, Sidious' voice changes constantly during the whole scene. What happened there?
Answer: It is one of two things, either his attack on Mace Windu reflected onto himself damaged his vocal chords as well as his body, or, as has been suggested, his deformed figure is actually his true form which he has been hiding for so long with the force, and only now does he stop hiding it as he has no more need to.
What the submission meant was did it go from normal to croaky and back again afterwards? Personally I agree. I thought the croaky voice was probably from his hidden identity, but his voice is normal again when he says "execute order 66."
Question: Why didn't Yoda or others find out or sense about Anakin's relationship with Padme although in the movie Attack of the Clones, they are publicly seen kissing after fights with Dooku?
Answer: Obi-Wan and Yoda were well aware of Anakin and Padme's feelings for each other and their developing relationship during the events of Attack of the Clones, and so Yoda instructed Padme to give up Anakin, which she pretended to. This occurred shortly before their marriage and so as far as Obi-Wan and Yoda knew, there was no relationship at all.
Question: Why does General Grievous (a robot) have a choking cough and a wheeze? I can't fathom why someone would build or program this into a mechanical construct.
Answer: Grievous was originally fully organic, but was badly injured in a shuttle crash orchestrated by Count Dooku and rebuilt into a mechanical body. He developed a wheeze and cough during the battle of Coruscant where, after kidnapping Palpatine and trying to escape, Mace Windu crushed his mechanical skeleton onto his organs in an attempt to kill him. He failed, but gave Grievous the wheeze and cough that followed him for the rest of his very short life.
Question: This might be just me, but at the beginning of the movie, Grievous seemed to especially not like Obi-wan. If so, what was his grudge against him?
Answer: By nature, Grievous hates every Jedi due to their role in defeating his people during their war with the Huk, a conflict known as the "Huk War." As far as Obi-Wan goes, Grievous and Kenobi encountered each other many times during the Clone Wars in battle and duelled each other prior to Utapau. He has a history with Obi-Wan, and also likely views Kenobi's status as "The Negotiator" with contempt.
Question: Just a question about absurd tactics. It's clear that Sidious vs. Yoda is a draw. Adding another of the Jedi Order's leading Master in Obi-Wan Kenobi would probably tilt that duel in the Jedi's favor. Since they're on Coruscant together, why don't they face Sidious together, defeat him, then go to Mustafar?
Answer: Yoda has to run away with his tail, figuratively speaking, between his legs. Calling it a draw is generous. Obi-Wan's assistance could potentially have tipped the balance, true, although bear in mind that Sidious had already successfully taken out three senior Jedi Masters in a matter of seconds, while simultaneously holding his own against master duellist Mace Windu. Regardless of the outcome, their attack would alert Anakin to their survival, allowing him to surround himself with a force of highly trained clone troopers, forcing them to run a gauntlet to reach him that they couldn't possibly survive, leaving the Sith in control. Likewise, they can't go after Anakin together first, because it would simply allow the Emperor to do the same with the same result; the Sith remain in power. If the Sith are to be taken out, the only option is to attempt to take them both out at the same time, while they're complacent, mistakenly believing that the Jedi are all gone. It's a risky tactic, certainly, but it's the only one with a chance to destroy the Sith completely.
Question: In Episode II, Anakin jumped out of a moving speeder while he and Obi-wan were pursuing the bounty hunter who put the poisonous insects in Padme's bedroom. Other Jedi do similar falls in the Clone Wars movie and series. So why did Mace Windu die from being pushed out of Palpatine's office window?
Answer: Anakin hadn't just had his arm cut off and been electrocuted at full force by a Sith Master. Windu's in phenomenal pain and is likely barely conscious; in no condition to focus the Force enough to survive the fall.
Question: Shouldn't Anakin be angry when, after he finally converts to the Dark Side and kills Mace, Palpatine/Sidious reveals that he really doesn't know how to save someone from death, but if they work really really really hard, maybe they can figure it out? Shouldn't Anakin fly into a rage at this? He has no reaction, just kneels and says he will pledge himself to the Emperor's teaching.
Chosen answer: He probably is, but he's out of options at that point. Having acted directly against the Jedi by participating in Windu's death, he can no longer turn to them for help. If he wants to save Padme, he has no choice but to sign up with Sidious and hope that they can figure it out, no matter what his feelings on the matter might be.

Chosen answer: The beast is named Boga and is a varactyl, an easily trainable herbivorous species native to Utapau. Should be enough information to track down a WAV file if one exists.
Question: The Millennium Falcon can be seen landing on Coruscant, as it says in the trivia section here. Does anyone know who is supposed to be flying it, seeing how Han is about five to ten years old at this time (and Lando is probably around the same age)?
Answer: According to the book Millennium Falcon, which details the history of the ship, at the time it was known as the Stellar Envoy and was flown by Tobb Jadak and Reeze Duurman, two operatives of a covert group of Senators and Jedi who were concerned about Palpatine's actions in control of the Senate and were seeking to restore Senatorial authority.
Question: I haven't been able to figure out why Anakin's eyes are shown turning yellow in this movie, when he is on Mustafar. Dooku's eyes were always brown and Asajj Ventress often has blue eyes in Clone Wars media, although she uses the Dark Side. I don't think it could be a question of Dooku not giving himself over to the Sith as much as Anakin, because he did kill/order others to kill several Jedi and other people in Episode II and the Clone Wars books/shows. Are the color-changing eyes just something that happens temporarily when someone first accepts the Dark Side?
Answer: This seems to be a side-effect of heavy immersion in the Dark Side of the Force, although apparently not one that affects all users. As you point out, neither Dooku nor Ventress are shown to display this change, although Anakin's eyes do change after his massacre of the Seperatist leadership, then again prior to his immolation on Mustafar, after Obi-wan defeats him, and Darth Maul's eyes appeared to be permanently changed, possibly as a result of his total immersion in the Sith ways from a very early age. A number of other users of the Dark Side are depicted or described in Expanded Universe materials as having their eyes change temporarily during heavy use of the Force, including at least two of Anakin's descendants, but it seems not to be a universal trait of all Dark Side users.
Question: Palpatine killed Plagueis in his sleep. Is there any book/information that tells if Palpatine took precautions to avoid possibly being killed this way (by an apprentice of his own)?
Answer: In one of the books I've read, it mentions that Palpatine doesn't sleep. He meditates so he is always aware of his surroundings.
Question: I read about an unused scene where Vader walks into a room in the Jedi temple, where Shaak Ti is meditating, and stabs her with his lightsaber. Was this actually filmed (I know the deleted scene included on the DVD is the one of Shaak being killed by General Grievous)?
Answer: Yes it was filmed as there are pictures of that scene on the internet but there aren't any video segments of it anywere.
Answer: The Jedi way would be to always strive for redemption. Even if he didn't really believe it possible, Obi-Wan hoped to bring Anakin back from the Dark Side up until the very end.

There was a question on this site, "Did Obi-Wan go to Mustafar just to kill Anakin, or possibly try to redeem him?" The answer is he went there to stop Anakin at any cost, whether by converting him back from the dark side, subduing him, or killing him.
