Continuity mistake: When Charlie and Itchy are escaping from the pound they are trying to dig under the fence. Someone is shooting at them and blows a huge hole in the fence. When the camera cuts to another shot of them going under the fence, the hole is now gone.
Flo: She's burning up a fever, Charlie. She could have pneumonia.
Charlie: Think she needs a vet?
Flo: Charlie, she's a little girl. She needs a doctor.
Charlie: Doctor? I don't know any doctors... I'll find one.
Trivia: Judith Barsi was killed by her father a year and half before the film's release. The song "Love Survives" was put in the soundtrack as a dedication to her memory.
Question: When Charlie brings a pizza to the puppies, and they shout, "Charlie", how do they know what his name is?
Answer: Charlie may have visited the puppies before so they know who he is.
Answer: Charlie talks to Anne Marie about them so my guess is that he has visited the puppies and the female dog before maybe even a few times.
