Ocean's Twelve

Question: How does Linus' mother know to get them out of prison?

Chosen answer: The whole thing was planned from the beginning. That is how she knows.

Question: Why would it matter if Night Fox didn't think they were making any attempts to steal the egg from the museum?

Chosen answer: If the Night Fox didn't think they were trying to steal it, he would be questioning why. They had to make the more public attempt because otherwise he would start digging into their recent activities to find out if they already had.

Question: If Isabel is such a good detective, why did she not question more why Rusty stole the paintings from the random Frenchman? She should have been able to put two and two together and realized that the random Frenchman is The Night Fox.

Chosen answer: Why should Isabel think he is the Night Fox? She knows Rusty and his friends are thieves so she would suspect that they stole them for that reason.

Question: What was the point of putting Yen in a bag with a men's soccer team?

Chosen answer: The bag with Yen in it got mixed up at the hotel. It was designed to sneak him in without anyone knowing he was there, but it backfired.

Question: Why did Ocean's team leave the drill behind at Van der Woude's house? Was it to tip Isabel off about the Night Fox's involvement in the stealing of the document?

Chosen answer: Isabel was going to find out they had been there anyway. There was no reason to hide their tracks by taking the drill back with them. The drill was going to be left behind anyway, it didn't have any purpose anymore.

Question: Who is responsible for taking pictures of Brad Pitt's character in Amsterdam while he is following Catherine Zeta Jones' character? Is it Toulour?

Chosen answer: More likely, it was simply a detective that Jones' character set on Brad Pitt; she knew he was there and knew he was tailing her.

Question: In the scene where they are discussing the amount of interest owed, at the end Rusty says to Frank, "Don't tell Danny." Explain please.

shortdanzr

Chosen answer: They were just discussing going to Amsterdam. In the flashback you see Rusty living with Zeta-Jones, and running away when she was getting close to arresting him. Frank knows about Rusty's history with Zeta-Jones (indeed, Frank was Rusty's partner on the Rome Bulgari's robbery). Zeta-Jones told Rusty she would like to go live in Amsterdam where she has relatives. Frank knows it is dangerous for the pair of them to go back to Amsterdam where probably Zeta-Jones is (Zeta-Jones wastes little time arresting Frank at a nail-salon).

Soylent Purple

New this month Answer: Also, in the scene where Rusty and Isabel first see each other, it is Frank sitting at the table with Rusty. So it's safe to say he was well aware of the relationship from the beginning.

Question: In the scene near the end of the movie, when Isabel confronts Rusty at the airplane and he tells her that her father is still alive, He also says "There's nothing back there but a forged 1077." How does he know she forged it? Even if we can assume they were bluffing when Linus' mother showed up at the prison indicating an irregularity with the paperwork (as previously contributed by another viewer), that doesn't explain how Rusty knew it was forged.

Chosen answer: Because he knows her and what lengths she would go to. He also could have gotten inside information.

Question: Can anyone make out what Tess whispers to Danny after Toulour makes them tell him that he is the best? I can only hear very little but I can tell that she is actually saying something.

Chosen answer: Tess says to Danny, "Get him to tell us how he did it and then tell him he's the best. I'm not going to tell him he's the best because I think you're the best."

Tina Gilliam

Question: Why does Terry Benedict call Rusty by the name of Robert Charles Ryan, is that his real name? Or who is this Robert Charles Ryan?

Chosen answer: Yes, that is his real name. Rusty is just a nickname or short for his whole name.

Toolio

Question: Can someone please explain the big twist at the end of the film?

Chosen answer: Clooney and the gang actually stole the Faberge Egg before Francois Tolour. Clooney and Pitt went to see the thief La Marque who informed them the egg in the heavily secured truck was actually a fake. The real egg was the one on the train with the very low security. In exchange for the information, they must give La Marque the egg (as he had put it back many years ago when he tried to steal it because his wife told him to put it back) and his long lost daughter (Catherine Zeta Jones). In regards to Tolour he stole a fake egg despite the amazing burglary, and at the end we see him in disguise probably trying to steal the money back he lost in the bet.

Mistakes

The scene where Nightfox steals the Faberge Egg is all wrong. A laser security system must have a photoelectric receptor at the other side to detect if somebody pass between the two devices. As shown in the film, the laser beams points everywhere, so the system can't work and somebody could cross a beam without starting the alarm. Even if it was some weird system based on measuring distance it wouldn't work - if the laser hits the floor at an angle it won't bounce back to the source, it will reflect towards the ceiling.

Trivia

The scene shot in Amsterdam Central Station was actually shot at the Haarlem train station. Dutch Railway officials didn't allow the interference of trains schedules on such a crowded station, since they're fined by the Dutch government for every delay. Haarlem is much quieter a station and just as beautiful a location. Also the Europol headquarters are in fact the Hague's City Hall.
