Continuity mistake: During the final game when Justin is by himself, you can see Owen sitting on the bench without his track suit. When he throws the ball at White you can quickly see in the background Owen is standing behind Justin with his track suit on. Few shots later it cuts back to the bench and he is sitting down with the rest of the team with the uniform minus the track suit. (01:16:23 - 01:16:30)

Peter Laflauer owns a low key gym called Average Joes. He is way behind on tax payments and needs to find a way to come up with $50,000 to save him gym from being bought out by Globo Gym owner, White Goodman, who wishes to make it into a parking lot. They find an article in a magazine about how you can win $50,000 if you win the dodgeball tournament on ESPN "The OCHO". The only problem is, Globo Gym has also entered the tournament to make sure Average Joes Gymnasium doesn't succeed.

Chosen answer: "Deus Ex Machina" means "God out of the machine." It's from Greek plays, wherein a god would appear at the end of the story to solve a problem. Nowadays it basically means that a totally new plot element appears out of nowhere and solves everything. It's an easy (and cheap) way out.
