Visible crew/equipment: In the shot just before the Sheep Dog van flies up and lands on the road, a shadow of a camera mounted to the side of the Sheep Dog van is visible as Harry nearly runs over the running man. (00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: When Joe Mentalino eats the rat poison pills in the cafe, he dies and the character collapses on the ground with his head facing the left. But when the body is placed on the trolly a few shots later, the "dead" Mentalino has somehow managed to move his head to the right.
Continuity mistake: Before Harry and Lloyd begin their conversation about gambling, they seem to be driving by a lake; but from the inside, they're driving by a town.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at Harry and Lloyd's apartment, one of them opens a beer and throws the cap on the floor. In different shots the beer cap moves from place to place on the floor. (00:12:06)
Revealing mistake: Prior to the animal show, just before Harry feeds the second dog, you can see someone in the back throw a treat through the curtains to get the dog to go up front. (00:02:50)
Other mistake: When Lloyd is in the bar and he has just said "Everything has to be perfect", he gives a big sigh and the camera is facing his front. Then the camera is facing the barman and he gives the same sigh. You can see from how his face changes from smiling to a frown.
Continuity mistake: At the truck stop, in the side shot in which Lloyd tells Harry to toss some salt over his right shoulder, Harry is holding his straws at an angle off the table. Then it switches to a front shot of Harry, and he is now holding his straws vertically on the table.
Revealing mistake: During the tongue scene, when Mary is pulling Harry's tongue off the ski lift, you can see Harry's real tongue right under the fake stretchy one. (01:16:50)
Suggested correction: If you look really carefully you will see that this is a part of his lower lip folded a little bit.
Continuity mistake: Right before the officer on the bike calls Lloyd a "pumpkin-pie-haircut freak", Lloyd is sitting back, straight faced, then after the officer says it Lloyd is leaning forward smiling.
Other mistake: You have to know Colorado to get this one, but the two guys are on a trip to Aspen to return the suitcase to the woman. But when they finally arrive, they are not actually in Aspen like you are supposed to assume they are. The whole Aspen scenario actually takes place in Breckenridge ski resort. (00:54:10)
Audio problem: In the very beginning Lloyd opens a bottle of beer in their apartment. When the cap falls on the floor it makes a clinking sound as if it landed on tile, however, their floor is carpeted.
Continuity mistake: When Lloyd is swinging his arms in the van, pretending to be 'running at an incredible rate', they are driving through a countryside with nothing but open plains. In the next shot, when Lloyd says 'we're really doing it though aren't we buddy?', look outside the passenger window. They are suddenly driving past houses in a residential area.
Revealing mistake: At the Swanson's ski-lodge, there is snow on the rail of the balcony, but the mountains in the background are completely snowless. (00:29:27)
Continuity mistake: When Mary's family is shown in their home in Aspen. Mary is sitting on the couch with hot chocolate in hand, and is shown with her right leg crossed over her left. However, when Nicholas walks in, magically Mary's left leg is crossed over her right. (00:29:27)
Continuity mistake: When Lloyd is peeing in the beer bottles, he hands them to Harry... it shows him holding the bottles... next shot, he isn't holding them, and the shot after that, he is holding them again. (00:26:00)
Suggested correction: In the shot where he is "not holding them", they are simply out of the frame. He was actually holding them all along.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at the truck stop, just before C-Bass comes over to Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniel's table, the same teenage boy walks by the window twice with his girlfriend. Also, the "Aspen" hotel is really The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. The Stanley is the hotel Stephen King based The Shining on. (00:22:00)
Other mistake: When the undercover cop (Beth) walks into the bar and orders a drink whilst sitting down next to Lloyd, the bartender gives it to her 5-10 seconds later; there wasn't enough time for him to pick out the correct glass, pour the drink from the bottle and then give it to her that quick.
Plot hole: By the time Lloyd gets to the airbridge the plane had already left. The finalisation of the boarding process after last call, plus push back takes at least 15 minutes. Lloyd would have easily caught up to Mary or the plane would have still been there.
Other mistake: At the start of the film when Lloyd pulls up next to the Austrian woman, despite being tinted we can see through the limo's window. We don't see Lloyd climbing from the front to the back of the car, nor do we see the car rocking slightly which it would have done if someone was moving around inside. It's also impossible for him to get from the front to the back of the car in the time given.
Continuity mistake: During the diner sequence, the amount of fries in Harry's basket changes between shots.
