Continuity mistake: During the Venice water chase, Charlie's boat goes under a bridge toward two green tugs. The tugs are moving apart to let him through, but when he comes out from under the bridge, the two tugs are close together and off to one side. In the very next shot, they are far enough apart to allow Charlie's pursuer to pass between them. (00:14:50)

Continuity mistake: When we are looking back to when Charlie was a kid we see the thug kid walking by some kids before he slaps the book out of the other kid's hands. Continuity mistake: In the sequence where the three Minis are being driven around a waterway as a rehearsal for the job, the auxiliary driving lights (the ones fixed in front of the radiator) go off and on. In the first shot all the cars have these lights on, in the next external shot the white car has them switched off, then back on again for the immediately following shot. Shortly afterwards the red Mini has these lights off for one shot - then back on in the very next one. (00:58:15)

Continuity mistake: When the three armored trucks are driving side by side there are stars on the sidewalk, indicating that they are behind the walk of fame. Truck 128 passes this and later, the Minis are seen on the Walk of fame with the truck passing beside them. (01:23:20)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where "the Napster" is changing the street lights, there is a shot where armored truck 128 is slowly moving behind a grey or white Saturn (right after you hear on the radio "Truck 128, what is your progress?"). In the next shot, where one of the men in the truck says "Ah, get us outta here," you see Napster's computer. On the computer, when you see the street camera looking down onto truck 128, the Saturn is gone and all the surrounding traffic has moved. Truck 128 is one lane closer to the curb, and the car and SUV that were on 128's right in the live shot appear to be to the truck's left on camera. Other cars are gone or have changed places as well. (01:24:55)

Continuity mistake: When the Mini Coopers enter the subway tunnel, the white Mini is bumped by the train, yet in the following scene and the rest of the movie no body damage is visible to the rear of that Mini. (01:27:45)

Continuity mistake: During the chase scene in the tunnel, the two motorcycles were always pretty close to each other through most of the scene. When the first motorist was knocked off, it should've taken out the second one right away. (01:36:00)

Factual error: The group is plunged into the icy water for at least several minutes wearing nothing but light jackets yet no one seems to be suffering from hypothermia in the slightest when they show up on shore. (00:21:30)

Question: How much did Mini Cooper give to the Italian Job for the publicity in the movie? The movie casts a very good light on the car.

Answer: The Mini Cooper for the movie was also made as an electric car for the chase scenes in the tunnel because gas-powered cars were not allowed to be used in the tunnels. I heard that from the director's cut.

Answer: While the exact amount of money is hard to find, the MINIs used in the 2003 movie are a direct homage to the Minis used in the 1960s movie, which is the main reason they are used. MINI (the company owned by BMW, as opposed to the company which owned Mini by Austin and Morris in the 60s) was happy to have the remake use MINI as a direct link to change the perception of it from a "girly" type car, to a more sporty one.
