Continuity mistake: In Tom's hotel room, Wendy kicks Tom in the face and he goes down on the floor. In this shot the red velvet pillow on the bed is decorative side down and Tom's duffel is seen. In the next shot the red velvet pillow is decorative side up and the duffel is positioned differently. (01:15:10)
Continuity mistake: Tom and Wendy fall onto the bed in Tom's hotel room. First his head is off the green and gold decorative silk pillow, but next shot his head is lying in the center of that pillow. In the shot behind Wendy, the pillow lays decorative side down, but in the following shot his head is in the center of the decorative side. When he sits up, the decorative side is underneath again. When Wendy leaves the decorative pillow is gone entirely. (01:14:45)
Continuity mistake: Tom and Wendy stand in the hallway outside of Tom's room in the Hotel Gianna. In the first shot he stands to the right of the door, with his back to the elevator. However in the next shot, he stands to the left of the door with his back towards the other rooms. (01:14:25)
Continuity mistake: Tom asks Fredo, the maitre d' of the Hotel Gianna, about Sarah's whereabouts. When the man throws down Tom's key, a view of the lobby desk is seen. When Tom places the money down on the reservations book, in this close-up the desk is arranged differently. (01:11:20)
Continuity mistake: Tom jumps out of the bathroom window of the Caffe [sic] America. In the close-up he lands one foot in a wood crate and behind him there is another wood crate with eggplants. Yet in the next shot, the wood crate he lands in is smashed differently, there is another crate in front with lettuce and the wood crate with eggplant behind him is gone. (01:10:45)
Continuity mistake: At Bernardo's mansion, Peter and Sarah walk up the stairs with Bernardo as he holds Sarah's upper arm. When Bernardo asks, "Your honeymoon?" the strap of her purse is under Bernardo's hand at her elbow. He does not release his grip of her arm and in the next shot as he says, "But she's so young to be married," the strap is now on her shoulder. (01:09:05)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah and Tom are in the jail, Tom has a red plaid blanket around his shoulders. Between the shot outside the cell bars and the shot inside the cell bars, the position of the plaid changes. (01:19:25)
Continuity mistake: Tom runs into the hotel room singing, "Dodgers won..." and he drops his jacket in a heap on top of the tour guide book lying on the chair. When he runs to Sarah at the door, the jacket lies differently. Then when he takes his jacket to get some air, the jacket is lying very neatly across the chair and the book is in a different position. (01:01:05 - 01:05:10)
Continuity mistake: On the airplane going back home, Sarah has a pillow behind her head. In the overhead shot the pillow is straight, then in the close-up the pillow is crooked, and in the next overhead shot the pillow is straight again. (01:21:20)
Continuity mistake: After Sarah throws the ash tray at Tom, the sound of him falling hard is heard as the camera is on Sarah. She then says, "I'm sorry" and runs to him, as she continues to look straight ahead where he was standing before we heard him fall, instead of looking down at the floor where he fell. (01:17:30)
Revealing mistake: Sarah walks on the foot bridge with the artists when she spots Peter. In the front shot her arms are spread out around the artist as she walks right into him. In the next shot she walks between the artist and the easel with her back to the camera and falls. It's also very obvious that it's not Brittany Murphy in this shot. (00:58:40)
Continuity mistake: Sarah and Tom crash through the wall at the Pensione and the plaster breaks up a particular way. In the next shot from the neighboring room the plaster stays more solid and the rest breaks up a different way. (00:52:00)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah and Tom enter their room at the Pensione, she puts her black bag with duct tape down on the chair and placed her coat on top. Then a piece of ceiling plaster falls to the floor. In the close-up, the plaster is half off the rug and the black bag with duct tape is also seen on the chair. Then in wide shot the plaster is entirely on the rug and the black bag is back under the coat again. (00:51:20)
Revealing mistake: In a close-up Tom sits in his car trying to slice off the lock of hair that has a wad of gum stuck to it. In the wide shot it is very apparent that it is not the same hair or his hair for that matter, as in the close-up, that he cuts off. (00:02:05)
Continuity mistake: Sarah looks at the long line to wait for a taxi at the airport. In the first shot the girl in the blue outfit walks by the line of people waiting. Then in the close-up she walks by again. (00:01:55)
Deliberate mistake: When Sarah steps off the escalator and is slammed by the luggage cart, she topples to the floor. It is very obvious that it's not Brittany Murphy taking that fall. (00:01:40)
Continuity mistake: Tom sneaks into Sarah's bedroom and climbs into bed with her. In the next close-up the comforter and shams on her bed are positioned very differently than in the previous shot. (00:18:55)
Continuity mistake: When Tom bounces the ball for Bags, the reflection on the TV shows the pillows on the bed, but in the next shot the bed is seen and the pillows aren't arranged the same way. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: The camera pans the bouncing ball that Bags chases and on the left are two candles and something blue near the globe. In the next shot the blue item is gone and the candle is closer to the edge on the suitcase. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: When Tom tosses the ball, Bags runs after it and in the first shot he runs past the rug. Then in the next shot the camera pans the rug in front, from the POV of Bags, who hasn't reached the rug yet and in the next shot, Bags is still on the middle of the rug. (00:11:40)
