Signs is a slow-boiling Science-Fiction Thriller that focuses on the Hess Family dealing with strange occurrences at their farm. First, unexplained crop circles appear, then their dogs become agitated, and finally they see what appear to be malevolent beings invade their property in the early stages of what might be an invasion. When more crop circles and other sightings begin to happen globally, the Hess family is forced to confront the menace on their own while already dealing with personal loss. Sometimes humorous to break up the mounting tension, Signs offers a story about faith, family, dealing with grief and standing together against adversity. Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin and Abigail Breslin star as the besieged family. M. Night Shymalan also appears. One of Shymalan's better films for building suspense and being entertaining from start to finish.

Continuity mistake: When Graham goes into Ray's kitchen you see the vegetables scattered and the knife further on the other side of them. When Graham leans up for the knife, however, it is on the other side of the now grouped vegetables. (00:56:40 - 00:58:10)

Trivia: When the alien's hand comes out of the coal grate for Morgan, if you look closely you will see that the hand was already through the grate and the alien was using its colour changing abilities to hide. So if you look very closely you will that that the hand comes UP from the grate and not through it, and if you look VERY carefully you can see the outline of the hand even before Morgen says "What?"
