Continuity mistake: The scene at Columbia University was filmed on an unseasonably warm spring day, however, the costume department had provided the high school extras with cold-weather clothing. The real Columbia University students can be seen in the background wearing shorts and t-shirts by contrast.
Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man saves the baby from the burning building, it's amazing that the baby and the blanket are so clean - no soot, smoke damage, charring, etc. The firefighters have obvious soot around their noses from trying to breathe in that area. Did Spidey manage to give the baby a bath before presenting it to momma?
Continuity mistake: When Peter is talking with Mary Jane outside the diner where she works, watch the positioning of the shadows in the background. As the camera shoots from Peter's point-of-view, the sun is casting shadows up the street. When the shots change to MJ's point-of-view, the shadows are pointing down the street, as if the sun had just moved ahead several hours.
Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man is chasing the crook with the gun, the crook shoots 7 times through the roof of the car. Shortly afterwards you can see 9 bullet holes in an overhead shot. As the scene moves along there is another overhead shot (just after Spider-Man jumps the bridge) - no bullet holes. Seconds later the bullet holes return.
Continuity mistake: When Peter Parker confronts Uncle Ben's killer in the warehouse, after Parker slams him through the glass windows in the door, the killer drops his gun and pulls out a knife. After he is disarmed of the knife, Peter kicks him up against the wall. At this point the killer has the gun back in his hand.
Continuity mistake: When Peter is drawing up ideas for his costume the hand is that of comic artist Phil Jimenez, current artist of Wonder. Phil Jimenez is right handed and Tobey is left handed. In one of the cuts the pen is in Tobey's left hand but it shows him drawing with his right.
Continuity mistake: In the final cemetery sequence, Peter and Mary Jane square off for a little heart to heart, with her touching his face tenderly with her black leather gloves. The camera intercuts between front views of both: in hers, her fingers are touching his ear lobe, in his, they are a inch below his ear lobe. In one quick cut of hers, the hand has disappeared completely, then in mid-sentence as they cut back to Peter, it's there again.
Continuity mistake: During the World Unity Festival, the Green Goblin seeks revenge upon his ex-coworkers. The Goblin throws a pumpkin bomb at them that makes them all disintegrate and disappear. One of his coworkers had a wheelchair with him, which survives the Goblin's bomb and remains on the balcony. (You can see the wheelchair while they are being bombed and after they disintegrate, all in the same shot.) For the rest of the scene, the wheelchair has disappeared from the balcony.
Continuity mistake: When Peter is talking to Mary Jane outside the diner, the same man is seen walking behind Peter 3 or 4 times - biggish man with a flat cap on. First when Peter says "so you're acting now?", then when he talks about Harry not living on earth, then again when Mary Jane walks off.
Continuity mistake: During the World Unity Festival, as the balcony first collapses, a blond woman and a man are running to get out of the wreckage. But in the next shot, the same couple just stand under the falling balcony looking up and Peter uses webbing to pull the standing-still couple to safety.
Continuity mistake: When Peter Parker is chasing the school bus for the first time, the bus stops and it is entirely visible that there is nothing in front of the bus. When the camera is switched to the inside of the bus to show Peter stepping inside to apologize to the bus-driver, however, a tractor-trailer suddenly appears only yards from the front of the bus (visible through the windshield). Some road markings also appear.
Continuity mistake: After Peter punches Flash in the guts during the Flash/Peter hallway fight scene, in Mary Jane's closeup she looks surprised, and behind her on her right is a surprised guy wearing glasses. After Flash's friend says "Jesus Parker, you are a freak," and Harry says "Wow, that was amazing", the same guy suddenly appears on Mary Jane's left, looking happy and clapping. It cuts to a closeup of Mary Jane and the same guy appears back on Mary Jane's right, looking somewhat surprised again.
Continuity mistake: During the bridge scene the wire supporting the tram/cable car was obviously anchored on the other end when the Green Goblin was holding it, because the car's suspended on a near horizontal line, with the regular support at one end and the Goblin on the other. All well and good, and even after Spider-Man grabs Mary Jane we see the car drop with the wire still looped through the pulley, both ends visible. In the next shot from above though, the other end of the wire's disappeared, and the car's now just hanging off a single cable which is attached to the top of the car. How'd that happen?
Continuity mistake: When Peter is trying to talk to Mary in the cafeteria you can see behind where he is standing there are numerous people and tables between him and the back wall. Peter then sits down and in the very next shot his table is one table away from the wall behind him. The shot may be lower but is from the same angle as before.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the building is on fire, you see a fireman (helmet has 57 on it) assisting in getting the residents out of the structure. Take notice that the fireman has an annoying strap hanging down from the top of his helmet. Eventually that strap disappears and a convenient microphone comes into focus. Stick around, because the microphone has a vanishing act too.

Continuity mistake: When Peter shoots webs around his room and hits the rocket over, all that is on the nightstand is the cool light bulb lamp, the picture and the Dr. Pepper can. When it flips back to the nightstand again you can see some weird green alarm clock next to the overturned picture.
Continuity mistake: In the scene in which Peter and Flash are fighting in the hall, Harry runs up to Mary Jane to see what is happening, seconds later Peter jumps up to avoid Flash's friend charging him from behind. In the shot of Peter flipping in the air, you can see that Harry is no longer standing next to Mary Jane, a girl in a blue sweater is. After Peter lands, the camera cuts back to Mary Jane and Harry is once again by her side.
Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man catches Mary Jane as she falls off the balcony, in the shot from above there are two columns lying on the ground - one on the right as we look at it, a few feet from the red area and parallel to it, and one on the left at an angle. In the shot of them landing, the one closest to the red area has disappeared.
Continuity mistake: At the World Unity Festival, Peter is taking pictures. When he looks up at Harry and M.J. on the balcony, his camera, which has been your average "right handed" camera throughout the film, magically becomes a "left handed" camera. The shot's obviously been reversed - his parting's on the wrong side as well.
Continuity mistake: When Peter Parker is walking behind Mary Jane, just after they both leave for school, and Mary Jane's father is yelling at her on the street, you see the yellow bus approaching behind them, with no car in front of the bus. As the camera angle changes, you see a black convertible pull up to pick up Mary Jane, and it arrives before the bus, even though the car was nowhere to be seen a second prior.
Continuity mistake: When Peter runs into Mary Jane leaving her job at the diner, when she says "some dream, huh?" she wraps her jacket around her and folds her arms. After a brief cut of Peter her jacket's open - she then says "don't tell Harry", wraps her jacket around herself and folds her arms again.
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the street, right after the crook escapes with the wrestling money, Peter is standing watching all the people rush to his uncle Ben - there is a girl wearing a black leather jacket, white shirt and black go-go boots walking with 2 guys. When Peter runs to his uncle, she is behind him. When Peter pushes through the crowd, the girl is already there, to the right of the shot.
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, we see the bus driving on the right side of the road. When the shot goes to the guy eating the doughnut, look outside the window and the bus is about 2 feet (if that) from the curb. Yet, when we see Peter in the rear view mirror, there are now a lot of cars parked at the curb that we didn't see in the previous shot.
Continuity mistake: When Peter is practising throwing spider webs in his bedroom, his first attempt hits a model rocket and it breaks in many pieces. A few shots later when he finally hits the Dr. Pepper can, as he whips it across the room you can see the rocket back in one piece, just leaning against the wall.
Continuity mistake: Near the beginning of the film when we see Peter waking up and reaching for his glasses, in the previous shot he didn't have the blanket on him or over his shoulders, it's in the background on the floor, yet when he reaches for his glasses the blanket is on his shoulders.
Continuity mistake: This is towards the end of the scene where Mary Jane had an encounter with the thugs and Spider-Man comes to save the day. After beating up the thugs, Spider-Man leaves through some dark alley way and Mary Jane looks around to find him. Suddenly, Spider-Man comes down his web, upside down, along a wall. She's about 3 feet away when he starts speaking, but when the angle changes and she jumps around she's right in front of him.
Continuity mistake: When Peter is following MJ up the street, there are two cars and a jeep in the background. When Flash picks up MJ and speeds away, Peter runs from in front of the jeep, which was further down the street. Also there is now only one car in front of the jeep, instead of several.
Continuity mistake: When Peter and his uncle are talking in the car, they are parked on the side of a one way street, with their car in the same direction as the traffic, but when the camera is on the uncle, you can see cars going in the opposite direction reflected in the windows behind him.
Continuity mistake: When Peter has just seen MJ leave her house for school and is walking along the pavement by the cars following her, he stops when she does and practises talking to her. Look behind him. You can see the bus turning the corner and coming nearer to them. The shot stays on Peter when the bus rounds the corner, cuts to Mary Jane and then goes back to Peter. The bus would have been much nearer than it was in the second shot at the speed it's going.
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film the Green Goblin programs his glider to fly at Spider-Man, Spidey jumps out of the way and the glider continues to fly at the Green Goblin. You see a shot of the Green Goblin throwing his hands up next to his head, then a close-up shot of his face where he says "oh" but there are no hands. Then in the next shot from further away his hands are back by his head.
Continuity mistake: When we see Norman Osborn testing out the formula with the other doctor, Norman comes back to life and grabs the other doctor, in the first shot from the front when he grabs him, his fingers and knuckles are straight against the doctors neck, yet from the back we see now its more of a fist.
Continuity mistake: In the middle of the film when we see Peter, Harry and Norman Osborn talking, Norman says "Perhaps you could tell me who she is, this mystery girl Harry's been dating" If you watch Harry, in one shot he has both arms on the table and in the following shot, he is one arm up and is scratching his head.
Continuity mistake: At the Unity Festival, when the Green Goblin flies past on the glider, the camera cuts to a shot of the balcony, and behind Harry and MJ there is a man in a black suit that takes a picture (you can see the flash from the camera). But when the camera cuts to a close up, the camera that was in his right hand has vanished and is now a glass of wine.
Continuity mistake: When Norman Osborn finds out he is the green goblin from his mirror reflection, watch closely at his hair in the reflection and the real him, his hair in his reflection has a thick strand of hair hanging over his fringe, and the actual him, has his hair without any parts hanging over his fringe. It changes about three quarters of the way through the scene.
Continuity mistake: In the big carnival scene when the Green Goblin has thrown a bomb at the balcony the shot cuts to Peter and he sees two people about to get crushed by a falling rock. If you slow it down you can see that they are facing Peter with the woman on the right and the man on the left. The shot changes and they have there backs to Peter and the woman is now on the left, the man on the right.
Continuity mistake: When Norman Osbourne is in the tank, there is a close up on him at one point, and he has an expression of despair and fear on his face. But in the next shot, a wide one showing the green gas filling the chamber, Norman has a completely different look on his face.
Continuity mistake: When fighting the Carjacker, Peter dropkicks him using a pipe. When Peter does this, the Carjacker has his cap on as he moves out of frame. When moving into the next shot, the Carjacker no longer has his hat, which now disappeared into thin air, never to be seen again.
Continuity mistake: In the Thanksgiving scene where they are waiting for Peter to arrive, Peter swings onto the side of the building and drops down onto the balcony of his bedroom. To soften the drop onto the balcony, he bends his knees. When he unbends them and takes off his mask (the next shot) he is in the center of his bedroom, not on the balcony where he landed in the shot previous.
Continuity mistake: When Peter is talking to Mary Jane in front of the diner, a light maroon colored caddy passes by twice. The first time when she says she just got off a job, the second when the boss shouts at her. Sure, there could be two cars the same color in NY, but with the same driver...?
Continuity mistake: In the lab experiment scene, Osborn's pulse is tracked on a computer screen, which shows his pulse numerically, and graphically, and emits a 'beep' with each beat. When his pulse accelerates, the meter races higher, but the beeps, though fast, sound consistently at the same rate.
Continuity mistake: After Mary Jane slips while carrying the food tray and the food is thrown into the air, the shot facing the ceiling showing the food falling shows the bowl of jello to hit first and the apple to hit last, while the next shot shows Peter catching the apple first and the bowl of jello last.
Continuity mistake: When Peter runs out of school just after he beat up Flash, he runs into an alley and looks at his hand which is at waist level, then it cuts to a different view, his hand is now at neck level and one of his fingers is pointing up, then the shot after his hand is back to waist level and all fingers are straight and pointing down.
Continuity mistake: In the scene in Jameson's office after he throws his cigar out the window and the Goblin throws it back, when Jameson is looking at the cigar on his desk, he is sitting at an angle. Right before the Goblin crashes in, Jameson is sitting perfectly straight at the desk, with both hands on the desktop.
Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man finishes beating up the thugs and after Mary Jane kisses Spider-Man, when you watch the one shot from the side, Mary Jane only starts to put his mask back on. But when the angle changes, Spider-Man's mask is properly on when Mary Jane didn't even move her hands.
Continuity mistake: When MJ and Peter are discussing the beating that Peter gave Flash that morning in school, MJ says, "He's just glad you didn't give him a black eye for graduation." This scene takes place the day after Peter was bitten by the spider, when the weather is cold. High school graduations generally take place in June or late May - so any black eye Peter might have given Flash would long be healed up by graduation.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Osbourne tries the performance enhancers on himself, he takes off his labcoat and throws it into a corner. We see a long shot of the lab, and the coat is in at the base of the pillar. In a subsequent long shot however, the coat has moved a foot or so.
Continuity mistake: During the scene in which Peter is introduced to Norman Osborn in front of the museum, keep an eye on the Volvo parked behind the Rolls Royce. When the camera first faces Mr. Osborn (Willem Dafoe), the Volvo in the background has the window rolled halfway down. Camera switches to Peter and Harry, then back to Mr. Osborn. This time the window is all the way up. When the camera comes back to Mr. Osborn again, there is someone leaning in the window talking to the driver. The next time the camera comes back to Mr. Osborn, the window is again halfway down.
Continuity mistake: When Uncle Ben's killer enters the warehouse he reloads his gun and pulls the slide back to cock it. Later, when he points the same gun at Peter, you can hear the distinct sound of the hammer being pulled back. However, despite cocking the gun twice, you can see that the gun is not cocked.
Continuity mistake: When Osborn is getting ready to radiate himself at his laboratory, he drinks the small bottle of anti-coagulant before stepping into the chamber. He then smashes the bottle on the ground to his left. But in later shots you see no evidence of the fragments of the glass bottle.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Parker is chasing the robber into the abandoned warehouse you see the a shot of the robber holding the gun in his left hand and carring the money bag in his right hand. However the next shot you see him load a clip into the gun with the bag in his left hand and the gun in his right hand.
