Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Question: Do the sewers of New York really fill up with toxic waste every night as stated in the movie, or was this just for the purpose of the plot?

lartaker1975

Chosen answer: No they do not. This is only for the purpose of the film's plot.

Question: What was with the ending? He melts down to a regular looking boy when in the original he was shown as deformed. I hate this ending, consider it the weakest and worst of the franchise.

Question: After Jason kills Jim and Suzi on Crystal Lake, how does Jim's boat end up being at the harbor next morning? Crystal Lake is not connected to the sea. It's just surrounded by land, right?

Bunch Son

Chosen answer: To the best of my knowledge, this is just a bit of a continuity mistake. While previous films have not indicated Crystal Lake is connected to the ocean, this film portrays it as being connected. You just kinda gotta go with it for the movie to work.

TedStixon

Chosen answer: Considering the film shows Jason emerging from under the water, yes, it's clear that Jason swam the rest of the way after leaving the ship. (He was presumably following the lifeboat).

Question: Why didn't Harry Manfredini compose a soundtrack for this movie?

Answer: From what I understand, he basically did little-to-no work on "Part VII: The New Blood" due to scheduling conflicts. A majority of the score for that film was composed by someone else, although Manfredini was credited since some of his compositions and themes were used. When "Jason Takes Manhattan" rolled around, he simply wasn't asked to return, presumably because they assumed he would be too busy like he was with "Part VII." (Which makes sense, as he had four other credited projects he worked on the same year that "Jason Takes Manhattan" came out).

Question: Does the song The Darkest Side of the Night have anything to do with the movie?

Rob245

Answer: It's hard to find information about the song online. From what I can gather, I believe the song was written for the film, and a few of the lyrics do seem to have imagery that's reminiscent of the film... but I don't think the song is "about" the film itself.

Plot hole: In Part VII Jason's clothes were shredded and you could see his spine, kneecaps, etc. but now his clothes appear almost intact.

Trivia: Jensen Daggett was genuinely terrified when actor Kane Hodder pulled her towards him, through the porthole. This is because a huge shard of glass was right by her throat and Kane was unknowingly pulling her toward it. You can see the frightened look on her face. (00:53:25)
