Continuity mistake: When the mother is putting icing on a cake she destroyed during baking, in the next shot she is shown walking over to Steve Guttenberg's animation table and the icing is gone from the cake.

Continuity mistake: There is a scene where Sylvia is trying to get a cake out of the cake pan. In the first shot, from farther back, you see her shake the pan then sit it down and take off her oven mitts. The shot continues to go in and out throughout the scene. Every time the shot is zoomed in you can see Sylvia's oven mitts on her hands. Every time the shot backs up you can see the oven mitts on the table.

Sylvia: I know some of the children at this school and I know their parents. Family life is not easy. But of all the fathers, the step fathers, the half fathers that I've know, not one of them could love and support a child like these three men love Mary. There's nothing they wouldn't do for her.
