Continuity mistake: When Father Jud introduces his new idea for a more compassionate approach to the Church, he says, "Welcome to our first Father Jud's prayer group." Look at Lee Ross next to him. His position changes entirely at the first cut. (00:23:20)

Continuity mistake: In the scene that introduces the doctor, when the band Phish is mentioned, Father Jud has his hand on the glass, then doesn't anymore at the cut. (00:17:55)

Sammo

Factual error: When Blanc goes through the possible methods of death in a locked room mystery in "The Hollow Man," the first two are not actually the ones listed in the novel, since they refer to a complete accident and a trap set up inside the room that causes a fatal accident, respectively. And when Geraldine comes up with the solution, she tells Blanc that it was the "fourth" one while it would be the seventh.

Sammo

Factual error: It's not stated in the movie, but "L'EVEIL APPEL" does not mean "the evil apple" or "Eve's apple" or anything of the sort, but rather "Call to awakening", which fits the movie and theme (and the presence of a Jesus figure instead of a tree, apple, etc.). However, it's not really proper French (it should have been "appel à l'éveil"), which is quite odd for a Fabergé container worth 20,000 $.

Sammo

Factual error: Throughout the movie, Cyrus constantly records, keeping his phone vertical, but his videos are perfect landscape mode recordings (except for the one of Father Jud and Monsignor Wick's argument).

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Cy threatens to drag the church to court, the person next to him holds him back with an arm he has already lowered in the previous shot. (02:14:30)

Sammo

Factual error: Lee Ross's book signing happens a year after the murders. Since dates are very precise, we know those happened in 2025; therefore, the signing should be in 2026. But his book signing is on "Tuesday, April 1st." April 1st in 2026 is on a Wednesday. It was on a Tuesday in 2025, so they just picked the wrong date for that one.

Other mistake: When the killer puts the victim in the acid tub, they are not wearing the ring, which is actually the only feature that allowed the detective to identify them. (02:09:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: In the flashback of the second murder, the killer lowers the diamond, taking a look at the scythe, but the diamond is raised again in the next shot. (02:07:40)

Sammo

Other mistake: In the flashback of the closing of the casket, Martha says, "You will rise again. It will be OK. You will rise again," and after a pause, "I promise," to which the corpse responds, before Renner interrupts to put the lid on. But in the original scene, Martha, sounding also differently, would say, "You will rise again. It will be OK. You will rise again. You will rise," being immediately interrupted by Renner. (01:06:00 - 02:04:20)

Character mistake: When Father Jud takes the confession of the murderer, they both do the sign of the cross, but the priest does it wrong - Catholics touch their left shoulder, then the right shoulder; he does the opposite. That's not a mistake a priest would make. (01:58:10)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the culprit walks towards the altar, Geraldine's hands are crossed on her belly with the right hand over the left, the opposite way in the next shot. (01:57:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: During Blanc's denouement, Geraldine asks, "Okay. And now, what really happened?" when Blanc is leaning against the altar, and suddenly in the next shot ("Yes. Yes.") he is standing a few feet in front of it. (01:53:30)

Sammo

Factual error: The killer meets Doctor Nat around 11 PM. According to the police station clock, Father Jud turns himself in around half past 2 AM. By the time the body is discovered, it has been barely 4 hours, and its flesh has been thoroughly consumed by a bathtub of acid. No acid corrodes a still intact body this thoroughly in such a short time and without any further action.

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the tub of acid drains, there’s a close-up on the skull, where you can see that the left hand of the corpse is placed on what would be its neck. In the next close-up, it appears to have moved, and when we finally see the whole body, it is lying with both arms flat alongside the torso. (01:45:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Father Jud is holding the railing of the basement stairs. When he says "Oh God," you can see his arm move as if he moved his hand away from it. But he's still holding the railing the same way in the following shot. (01:43:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Blanc uses his left hand to push open the doctor's front door, but he's actually using the right hand in the following shot, and the left again in the last. (01:42:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: At the police station, Benoit Blanc goes down a flight of stairs. Behind him, a policeman is walking up the same stairs. He's almost to the top. Blanc freezes as he notices Father Jud showing up looking lost and slowly walking towards the front desk. Cutting back to Blanc after these few seconds, the policeman is exactly where we left him before in his path, hasn't moved a single step while he was not in frame. (01:41:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the police watch the footage from the security cameras, Father Jud's mudslide is shorter than the first time we saw it in the movie, and he also turns his legs the opposite way (legs facing the woods in the original, legs towards the crypt in the footage). (01:33:45 - 01:40:00)

Sammo

Other mistake: When Geraldine tells the agent that it's a homicide scene, you can see in the background Martha overhearing and turning towards her. The next close-up, though, is still of Glenn Close enraptured in prayer, facing forward, and she snaps out of it only when she overhears who died. (01:36:50)

Sammo

Fr. Jud Duplenticy: Here's what's gonna happen: Benoit freakin' Blanc and I are gonna ask you all some questions, and you all are gonna answer them and we're gonna get to the bottom of who killed Monsignor Wicks and why and then... that's it!

Trivia: Jeremy Renner plays a role in this movie, but he was referenced as an actor and indirectly appeared in Glass Onion, the previous movie of the saga. The Jeremy Renner "Renning Hot" Hot Sauce, with his likeness on the label, was a very important plot device. In his breakdown of the pub scene for Vanity Fair, Rian Johnson addressed this and said he placed a bottle of the sauce from Glass Onion in the pub scene, but it might not have ended up on camera; he couldn't find it during the scene breakdown.
