Continuity mistake: When Yugi is first seen assembling the Millennium Puzzle, there are some books on his shelf. The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh books on the shelf appear to be slanted by a few degrees to the right. In a closer shot of the shelf, the books are slanted much further to the right. (00:00:57)
Continuity mistake: Yugi looks at a few pieces of paper to see if it will help him put the pieces of the Millennium Puzzle together. After he puts the papers down, his left hand is empty. Then there is a close-up of him looking at one of the pieces. His left shoulder isn't shown moving in the close-up, but in the shot after that, he is holding a puzzle piece in his left hand, which wouldn't have been possible to pick up with his hand if his shoulder didn't move. Continuity mistake: After the explorers first find the tomb of Anubis, it cuts back to Yugi sitting at his desk. There is a piece of paper stuck to the lamp next to him, but in the next shot, the paper has disappeared from the lamp. (00:02:00)
Continuity mistake: When Yugi is nearly finished putting the Millennium Puzzle together, there is a shot of him inserting one of the pieces where two extra pieces of the puzzle can be seen on his desk. Two shots after doing this, he inserts another piece of the puzzle. Once this is done, there is only one piece of the puzzle left, but it is not one of the smaller pieces that were shown on the desk. That piece is never seen again. (00:02:18)
Continuity mistake: When Yugi is about to insert the last piece of the Millennium Puzzle, in the shot of him looking at the piece, his left hand is holding the bottom side of the puzzle (the hand cannot be seen in the shot, but it is not shown holding the top side). Then, when he inserts the piece into the puzzle in the next shot, his left hand is holding the top side. (00:02:56)
Deliberate mistake: Footage of Yugi playing at the Battle City Tournament is played across TV broadcasts around the world. However, the tournament footage is footage taken directly from the TV series, with some scenarios that were not filmed, and even the scenarios that were filmed feature camera angles and camera movements that would have been difficult to film. Other mistake: After the opening title, the film opens on a large screen displaying Yugi's achievements. Just as the narrator says, "In the three short years...", Yugi is holding the Exodia card, but the card features Japanese text. This can be seen in the English dub, even though all duelling cards are generally translated from the original Japanese language to English. (00:05:27)
Continuity mistake: A duelist inserts his deck of cards in his duel disk to prepare for a duel. In the close-up shot, his fingers are placed halfway along the top card. When the shot cuts, his fingers are closer to the edge of the top card. (00:05:35)
Character mistake: When Yugi's achievements are being broadcast, the narrator talks about Yugi's victory at the Battle City Tournament and then says, "Yugi defeated former champion Seto Kaiba to win it all." While he did duel Kaiba at the Battle City finals and win, he only defeated him in the semi-finals. The final Battle City duel was between Yugi and Marik, whom he beat in the duel, winning him the tournament. (00:05:58)
Continuity mistake: When Solomon is reading a newspaper, the front and back pages appear to have pictures on them at the top of the page. Then, in a closer shot, there is now only text at the top of the pages. (00:11:04)
Continuity mistake: When Pegasus is sitting in his deck chair, there is a table placed next to the deck chair. Seconds later, when he stands up after seeing Kaiba, the table is further away from the deck chair. (00:13:18)
Revealing mistake: When Pegasus sees Kaiba in the reflection of his wine glass, Kaiba's hair is not mirrored, which it should have done since it was a reflection. (00:13:23)
Continuity mistake: When Pegasus stands up to greet Kaiba, there is a white, round object on the table next to the deck chair. Later in the scene, in a wide shot where the shot pans upward from the lake, the object has disappeared from the table. (00:13:25 - 00:13:57)
Continuity mistake: When Pegasus is speaking with Kaiba about the card that could defeat the Egyptian Gods, the wine glass he is holding changes its size throughout the scene. (00:13:54)
Continuity mistake: Joey and Tristan walk up to a crowd of people. In the shot where the two pop their heads up, there is a boy next to Joey with black, curly hair. When the shot cuts, the boy has grey hair and a different hairstyle. (00:15:14)
Continuity mistake: When Joey and Tristan begin running away from the crowd through the archway, in the wide shot, the wall next to the archway is dark beige on one side and light beige on the other side. Two shots later, the wall on both sides is much lighter shades of beige. (00:16:01)
Continuity mistake: At the start of the duel with the first crowd member, the duelist says, "Let's do this," and raises his left forearm with the duel disk at an upward angle. Then it cuts to a wide shot, where his forearm is at a much lower angle. (00:16:57)
Character mistake: When Joey starts dueling members of the crowd, the first duelist goes first, and on his first turn summons Injection Fairy Lily. He then has Injection Fairy Lily attack Joey, but duelists cannot attack an opponent on their first turn if they are also the player going first. (00:17:05)
Revealing mistake: When the duelist summons Injection Fairy Lily, in the shot of him placing the card on the duel disk, the text on the monster card appears to be reversed. (00:17:07)
Character mistake: When Joey is duelling with a boy, the boy says, "I sacrifice Fenril and Inpachi in order to summon Maju Garzett." The monster he refers to as "Fenril" is actually called "Fenrir," and not the former. (00:17:27)
