Audio problem: At Thomas J's memorial service, Vada goes up to the coffin crying. Just after she says something about his glasses being missing, her father comes up to comfort her. Watch his mouth - he is heard talking but his lips aren't moving at first (they are in the next shot).
Thomas J returns to the woods to retrieve Vada's mood ring, but is stung by the bees causing an allergic reaction which kills him. Vada is torn up with grief, but eventually moves past it which also helps her deal with her various other issues. In the end, Thomas J's mother gives Vada the mood ring that he was found holding, which is now light blue instead of black.
Vada: Mrs. Sennett, don't worry, Thomas J. Will be all right. My mother will take care of him.
