Mermaid Down

Trivia: Talking about catching a Mermaid, one of the fishermen said, "Put an Alvey out there [ocean]." Alvey is a quality sidecast reel made in Australia. Another option was "berley" -scattering bait on the water to try to attract a Mermaid. (00:06:07)

Trivia: The Mermaid spit "ink" at Dr. Beyer in his car. This suggests a Mermaid is similar to an octopus, squid, or cuttlefish (which have "ink sacs" - though anal, not oral!) and is a type of mollusk, not fish. However, mollusks are invertebrates, and the Mermaid in the movie apparently had a spine/backbone. (01:13:28)

Continuity mistake: The distance between Dr. Beyer's car waiting on the road and the mermaid/wheelchair crossing in front varies (some shots being closer). Also, after the doctor hit the mermaid/wheelchair and stopped near the parked white car, the red truck should still be visible. (01:02:58)

Ship Capitan: A blanket of maps begets a handful of gnats is what my granddaddy would say to me on egg and sausage mornings. Drink your water in a tub full of bourbon. And why, for the matter of scotch, and my lady's crotch, do movies always act like mermaid's breathe water? Obviously mermaids are mammals because they look part human, for goodness gracious, righteous books, and boots of my ancestors' sake. Do they not?
