The Usual Suspects
The Usual Suspects mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Right before they rob the police car, a Boeing 747 (four engines) is seen in shots of the plane coming into land. When the plane is shown from behind, it is a Boeing 767, with only two engines and fewer main landing gears. (00:30:10)

Suggested correction: It's for effect to show they were hanging out around the airport for more than a bit.

There's no evidence this was meant to be a montage scene of various planes. The cuts they did have in the first angle were of the same plane getting closer to build suspense. Same for the other angle. Plus, there's no scenes or shots of "them" waiting.

Visible crew/equipment: When Verbal drops the Zippo lighter in the police office, Chazz Palminteri leans down to pick it up. When he leans down out of frame, there are 2 "C-stands" visible in the background. These shiny, adjustable stands are general-purpose utility holders on a movie set, used to position lights and light control material for a setup (i.e. flags, scrims, diffusion, etc).

Revealing mistake: During the gemstone smuggler robbery, when Verbal kicks open the van's rear doors, McManus begins to use a sledgehammer on the NY police cruiser's windshield, and behind him we see two very tall palm trees―in NYC. This scene was filmed in Los Angeles. Note the police cruiser has number 2485 at the airport and turning corners with the van tailing (filmed in NYC). As the van hits from behind it's 6423, and the stunt vehicle set on fire is 6426 (filmed in LA).

Continuity mistake: When Kobayashi first meets the Suspects, Fenster is laying on a sofa with his feet up on one of the armrests. Kobayashi says, "Mr. Fenster I recognize from his mug shots," and Fenster swings his feet down and sits upright. Thirty seconds later, Kobayashi says, "I work for Keyser Soze," and then Fenster swings his feet down from the armrest and sits up for a second time. (00:50:50)

Continuity mistake: When the cop car's being hijacked, a sledgehammer's slammed down right in the centre of the windscreen. A second later, a shot from inside the car shows the impact point as down in the bottom left corner. (00:31:40)

Visible crew/equipment: During Keaton's interrogation at the police station, he's punched in the face. Then it cuts to Keaton being placed in the holding cell, along with the other detainees. As the camera tracks toward McManus, we can see a wired mic clipped directly below Hockney just as he says, "Fenster, will you relax." (00:12:20)

Revealing mistake: While the gemstone smuggler is riding in the back seat of NY's Finest Taxi Service, in his close-ups note the vehicle's chrome button door lock, the garment hook over the window, etc. When the police cruiser makes a short stop, now in the smuggler's close-ups the door lock's chrome button cover is gone so only the inner pin remains, the garment hook has been removed, etc. (00:32:40)

Visible crew/equipment: After Verbal tells Dave Kujan, "Nobody argued with Keaton, they just set their minds to whacking Kobayashi," it then cuts to the office building as Kobayashi and his two bodyguards walk inside. When the camera passes in front of the reflective surface of a pillar, we can see the camera operator, camera on a moving dolly, the dolly tracks, boom pole, and other set equipment in this reflection. Question: How did Soze end up in the police station after he escaped the boat in the first place? If he had vanished after the bombing, he wouldn't have to make up the stories and he wouldn't have been identified by Kujan.

Answer: Soze ended up back under arrest and for some questioning as 'Verbal Kint'. He never really vanished, he's just playing two parts/people. He really vanishes off the scene by the end of the movie after he tricks Kujan.

With the exception of what's known to have happened on the dock, the entire story is a lie told by Verbal Kint to Agent Kujon. Kujon realises this after Kint leaves the office but not in time to catch up. The entire movie is about a habitual liar making up a story about what happened on the dock. He may be Keyser Soze or an alter-ego variant but even Keysers rep is subject to question as it was told by the same liar. Verbal himself said about Keaton, "He was a grounded guy, a cop. If you think the husband did it then you're right." He was telling on himself as sociopaths will do when they think they're smarter than everyone around them.

Answer: Kint/Soze ended up in the police station because he simply didn't get away in time.

Answer: All he had to do was kill them on the ship, blow it up, and leave. The whole BS story with the cops didn't even have to happen.
