Wonder Woman 1984

Continuity mistake: When the Amazonian contestants are lined up, there are 5 other Amazons to the side that are doing some warm up exercises. There are just three when Diana's mother is looking at the arena from her platform. In the same area those three disappear in the aerial shot of the stadium before the race starts, but are there by the 'ref' in the shot from the gong platform. Also, when the athletes sprint there are now a group of two and one of three. (00:02:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Antiope is talking to her as she is getting ready for the contest, behind Young Diana there are a few warriors who walk their horses towards the large portal (that was closed initially and now is open). Their distance from Diana change incoherently between shots, and so do their numbers. Particularly noticeable as Diana gets ready to sprint before the gong; two girls watching and clapping become three talking amongst themselves. (00:03:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: The contest begins and Young Diana is racing with other 8 Amazons. Their first goal is to get to a platform by either climbing ropes or using some mechanical contraption. When you look at the shot when Diana lands on the platform though, it is her, 4 on the ropes and 2 others in the air catapulting themselves on top like she did. That is a total of 7 contestants out of 9, and seems rather unlikely that two of the elite amazon athletes could pull a muscle jogging across the yard, which seems the only reason why they wouldn't be anywhere near the contested spot. Somehow it's again 9 Amazons in the faraway shot of the poles, but only 6 in the shot from the base of the poles. (00:03:45)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Diana falls from the horse holding her bow in the stunt shot from behind, but the bow is already on the floor in front of her in the next shot of the fall. (00:07:15)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When young whiny Diana is being consoled by her mum, Connie Nielsen has the thumb on the top of Diana's shoulder either through hair or free from it, depending on the shot. (00:10:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: A couple walks in front of the TVs in the store window during Max's speech. The guy has a cigarette packet in hand, but when Max's voice finishes the sentence with "but are you reaping the rewards?" he has already a cigarette in his mouth. (00:11:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: The criminal is holding the kid hostage dangling her outside the platform. His partners in crime try to talk him down; the curly haired guy with the sage jacket is waving with one arm, then the other; the bag switches hands. (00:14:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Wonder woman dashes towards the last of the goons who were robbing the store at the mall, his buddy who is already on the floor has his hand on his belly in the first shot, behind his keister in the next. (00:16:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: The 4 guys packed up by Wonder Woman are according to the credits Buzz Cut, Bad Skin, Flat Top and Scowler. Buzz Cut is the leftmost one in their sandwich, but depending on the shot Bad Skin (the nervous one who caused all the mess) is facing him or away from him. (00:17:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Minerva is on the floor picking up papers and trying to get her colleagues' attention. When they walk past her, she changes the hand she is using to pick the paper far away from her, and she has suddenly an extra paper standing conspicuously still vertically into the briefcase. (00:20:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Throughout the whole scene where she first interacts with Diana, Barbara's briefcase changes orientation in the closer shots on Kristen Wiig. For instance when she gets all giddy about the FBI involvement and asks "They're coming here?" the clasp on the suitcase is to the left (towards her hands), but then she replies "My help?" and the metal parts are exactly in the opposite direction. (00:21:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Gal Gadot just bumped into Kristen Wiig. She walks off and Natasha Rothwell (Carol) asks her if she knows her insignificant co-worker. When Wiig says "Remember you hired me? Started last week?" she has both hands clasped together at the briefcase in one shot, while in the reverse she's pointing at herself and only then her hands join supporting the case. (00:21:35)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Diana approaches Minerva that is dealing with the antiques, in particular "The empress of Siam." The towel placed on top of the case changes position between shots. (00:22:20)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Minerva finds the box with the stone and starts examining it with the magnifying glass, she is touching the side of the box with her left hand in a shot, but was not in the close-up. (00:22:45)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: In the close-up when Diana silently looks at the stone and wind blows through her hair even indoors, she is holding the item with her hands positioned differently from before. (00:24:10)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Diana puts back in the box the citrine stone after silently using it. The tip of the prism is leaning against the corner, towards Barbara. Nobody touched the stone again, but when they decide to go out and laugh at the 'lame' stone, the crystal is perfectly at the center of the box and touching no edge. (00:24:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Diana after checking the stone out tells Barbara "If you need anything, I'm around." Barbara is writing on the clipboard, hand on top of the board, but in the reverse shot she is holding the board with it. (00:24:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Diana and Barbara are having their early dinner together; Diana says that she is not getting out socially, and you can see at the edge of the frame that there's food in her plate. With no implication of time passed (on the contrary, the conversation establishes a continuum), her plate simply vanishes after the cut. (00:25:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: In a mistake endemic of dinner scenes and conversations in general, the hand position of Diana by the glass keeps changing between shot and reverse, multiple times. (00:25:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Max gets in the Smithsonian and talks to Minerva he "does his thing", aka recites the line of his commercial and points a finger, opening then the hand. In an intermediate shot though he is still pointing instead of keeping the hand fully open. (00:32:10)

Other mistake: Fireworks use heated metals to produce the various colors seen when they explode - Iron, Nickel, Cryolite, magnesium and copper filings. Flying a jet engine through exploding fireworks would cause serious damage to the engine.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Diana had conjured an invisibility shield around the jet that would likely protect it from the fireworks.

raywest

Agreed, the spell does obviously do more than just make the plane invisible. When looking at the invisibility of Themyscira, the spell obviously filters out the atmosphere and only can't keep out solid objects like planes and ships.

lionhead

If the cloak of invisibility "filters out the atmosphere", how is the air needed to run the engines getting in?

It filters the atmosphere, not keep it away. So it keeps the atmosphere that comes in clean.

Question: Why did Diana destroy the mall's security cameras, and why did she want the little girl to stay quiet?

Answer: At this point in time, her gig as a superhero is not public knowledge, and she wants it to stay that way.

Phaneron

How would that accomplish anything considering there were many people in the mall who saw what happened?

It really wouldn't, but then again, the writers didn't put much thought into this movie.

Phaneron

As the other answer indicated, Diana/Wonder Woman wasn't yet known publicly as a super-hero. A video recording is different from eye-witness accounts of what people actually saw or believe they saw. Memories are faulty, they fade, and everyone sees and remembers things differently. Regarding the child, I interpreted it as Diana just motioning in a friendly way for the rather precocious girl to stay put, behave, and quietly wait for her mother.

raywest

In my opinion, it wouldn't, and it's just another example of the shoddy writing in this film.

wizard_of_gore

Answer: This was long before the age of superheroes, when everything was normal and meta-humans were just theories in a lab. It was her appearances which stated it all. Remember the tagline, "The Dawn of Justice Begins with Her."
