Stargate

Question: When Jackson and O'Neill send the nuclear bomb up to Ra's spaceship, why didn't he simply send it down again? Sure it wouldn't have made it back to ground before detonation, but at least his ship may have been spared.

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: When Ra saw the bomb, he realised that it was a few seconds away from detonation. There wouldn't have been enough time to send it back.

Question: Why would Ra be afraid of an uprising? He's got alien technology that he can fire at the people to keep them in line. Even if the people knew the truth, he could still use what he had to make sure everyone never opposed him, considering they had no technology to defend themselves.

Answer: A human uprising forced Ra to leave Earth thousands of years ago. He likely fears a second one could actually destroy him.

Captain Defenestrator

Question: What does Dr. Jackson say when they send the probe through? Is it, "Where are we on that map?" or, "Where will it be on that map?"

Answer: It's "Where are we on that map?" the reply given is "The blue dot". He then traces the path to the other side of the map where the probe is shown, which is on the other side of the universe.

Leanne Skelly

Question: Did they give a reason why O'Neill was recalled? Did he have special qualifications that made him the only one capable of carrying out the mission?

Answer: He was known to be suicidal. He was picked because they wanted someone who wouldn't mind getting killed as the gate was blown up on the other side.

Mobrien316

Question: When they send in the probe into the embarkation room, why do a group of base guards rush in and take aim at the Stargate?

Answer: Because they didn't know what was going to happen, they didn't know if someone or something was going to come out of it.

Question: Who plays the man who rides in the elevator with Jackson when they go to Creek Mountain Facility?

Answer: I am assuming you are refering to the man in the elevator who also goes with them on the mission? If so, it is John Diehl. Most recognized from "Stripes", "The Client", and he played a recurring character as a detective on the TV show "Miami Vice".

Jazetopher

Question: After the probe goes through the stargate General West discusses the possibility of a reconnaissance team but one officer says to get back they need to dial home. My query is, couldn't they just open the stargate again from their end? Instead of having to dial home to activate the stargate? Also, while on the alien planet, presumably they use satellite phones to communicate, how are they get the satellite signals for the phones to work without satellites?

Answer: The wormhole is a one way gate. So when the gate is opened from one side, you can't go through from the other side. You have to open the stargate from your own location in order to travel.

lionhead

Audio problem: Right after Jackson has been dragged through the desert by the creature, it wakes him up and he says, "Get away from me," but his mouth never moves. (00:40:30)

Trivia: The producers, the casting agents, really wanted Jaye Davidson, from "The Crying Game", to play the head bad guy, but Jaye said, "No more movies", so they kept upping the money they would pay him - this is before actors nowadays get phenomenal money - and it was only when they got to a million dollars that he said yes.
