Visible crew/equipment: When the four officers and Ilia exit the ship onto the hull and begin walking towards the V-ger structure, the outline of the hole left in the matte painting of the Enterprise saucer section is visible. (Corrected in the Director's Edition).
Visible crew/equipment: In the original theatrical release, the set ceiling is briefly visible in the close-up of the asteroid exploding. This was fixed in the Director's Cut, which replaced this shot with a completely new effect.
Continuity mistake: In the final scene on the bridge, Spock and McCoy are wearing coloured arm bands which identify their departments: Spock's is orange (for Science) and McCoy's is green (for Medical). In the very last shot, Spock is wearing the green band and McCoy is wearing the orange one (corrected in the 2022 re-release of the Director's Edition).
McCoy: In simpler language, Captain, they drafted me!
Kirk: They didn't.
McCoy: This was your idea! This was your idea, wasn't it?
Kirk: Bones, there's a thing out there...
McCoy: Why is any object we didn't understand always called 'a thing'?
Trivia: If you look at the Kholinar necklace Spock was to be given when he was on Vulcan it bears a striking resemblance to the Enterprise, especially when it is laying on the ground before Spock picks it up.
Answer: Possibly, or there could also be another travel pod that is available at Cargo 6, and that is what is being announced.
