Continuity mistake: When K hands the hair sample to the clerk at Wallace Corporation, the clerk puts down the note with the serial number for the replicant, and places it on the desk, with part of it positioned in front of the keyboard. From another angle, the note cannot be seen. This could not be due to the clerk's head blocking it, because the note was placed in front of the keyboard, and the keyboard is fully visible in shot with no note visible in front of it. (00:29:45)
Continuity mistake: When K is at Wallace Corporation, he is standing at the front desk and gives the hair sample from the replicant to the file clerk. After K hands the sample to the clerk, he rests his elbow on the desk, with his forearm placed over the edge, but in the next shot, both his elbow and forearm are resting on the desk. (00:29:50)
Continuity mistake: When Luv is first introduced, she is shown pouring tea into a cup placed on a saucer and then raises the saucer. In the close-up of her hands and the cup, her left hand is completely shadowed. The camera then changes angles and half of her left hand is suddenly covered in light, with the other half shadowed. Continuity mistake: Whilst Luv is in a meeting with a buyer, she suddenly gets a message alert. She is holding a cup of tea in her right hand and holding a saucer in her left. She then lowers the cup back onto the saucer without taking her hand off it, but when the camera cuts to a wide shot of the room, both hands are suddenly touching the saucer. (00:30:40)
Continuity mistake: At Wallace Corporation, when K is walking through the data vault, the clerk stops to open the drawer with the replicant serial number, standing in front of it, but in the next shot, he is suddenly standing beside the open drawer. (00:31:25)
Continuity mistake: Just after Niander Wallace is introduced, the scene cuts to a newborn replicant being dropped from a plastic container. The replicant lands on a mat, with her left hand next to the edge in the wide shot. The shot cuts to a closer angle of the replicant, where her left hand is further from the edge. (00:38:20)
Continuity mistake: When Wallace is feeling the newborn replicant, in the shot where he says "to preserve the clay", he moves his left hand around the replicant's face and the shot ends with his left thumb placed on the left side of her head. The shot changes angles, and his thumb is now touching the back top of her head. (00:39:00)
Continuity mistake: When Luv walks over to Wallace to with a box of devices to access his visual aids, Wallace places his left hand on the top of his leg. Luv then slides open the box, and Wallace now has his left hand closer to his knee. (00:39:30)
Continuity mistake: When Wallace is looking at the newborn replicant with his visual aids, in the shot where he says "A child can count to nine on fingers", the corner of the towel that the replicant was covering herself with is on the floor. The shot cuts to a different angle, where he says "We should own the stars", and the corner of the towel is now more ruffled than it was in the previous shot. (00:40:45)
Continuity mistake: When Wallace slits the newborn replicant's stomach, he places his hand on her cheek, but in the next shot, his hand is suddenly on her shoulder. (00:41:45)
Continuity mistake: When K is at the food court, he is seen looking over the photos of Sapper Morton's tree. The first shot of him shows him holding the photos with his right hand, and his left hand over the photos. In the next shot, he is suddenly holding the photos with both hands. (00:43:20)
Continuity mistake: When K is at the food court, in the close-up shot of the photos when he is looking at them, a plastic spoon can be seen inside the food tray on the table. Around a minute later, when he is approached by Mariette and the two other replicants, the plastic spoon cannot be seen. Later in the scene, when Mariette looks at the photos K has in his hand, the plastic spoon has suddenly reappeared. (00:43:25 - 00:44:25)
Continuity mistake: When Mariette is standing in the street with the two other replicants, there is a woman to the right of shot, wearing some sort of mask and goggles on her face. She is holding an umbrella, with the pole facing the right hand side of her head, but in the next shot, the pole of the umbrella is now facing the left hand side of her head. (00:43:55)
Continuity mistake: In the food court scene, the first shot of Mariette shows her standing with two other replicants. The shot then changes to another angle, and Freysa has suddenly appeared, approaching them. She could not have been out of frame in the previous shot, because there is a woman with goggles and a mask to the right of shot, and when Freysa approaches, she has already walked past the woman. Continuity mistake: When Freysa meets up with Mariette and the two other replicants, she raises her arm and points towards K whilst facing away from the three. The camera cuts to an angle behind them, where her arm is now by her side and is facing towards the three. (00:44:05)
Continuity mistake: When Mariette and the two other replicants go to walk over to K, Freysa stands still and watches as they walk away. She is standing in front of a pathway, located between an area where there are glass booths filled with people having sex. Just before the shot cuts, an extra wearing a coat covering his entire body rolling a bike walks past Freysa and the pathway between the booths. The shot cuts to them walking over to K, and in the background, the extra with the bike can now be seen to the right of shot, further away from where he was before, walking past the same area a second time. Continuity mistake: When K is approached by the replicants at the food court, there is a tin on the table in front of him. The lid has been removed from the tin, and then placed on top of it at a rotated angle. In a close-up shot of the table, the lid on top of the tin is positioned at a different angle. Continuity mistake: When K is at the food court and the three replicants start talking to him, he is standing at a table with a bottle of juice on it, as well as a small food tray, with a gap between them. When Mariette leaves the table later on and K has another look at the photos in his hand, the juice bottle and food tray are suddenly right next to each other. (00:44:25 - 00:46:10)
Continuity mistake: When K is talking to Mariette at the food court, K is holding a photo in his hands. When Mariette puts her hand on K's shoulder, he is still holding the photo, but in the next shot, his hand has suddenly reached his shoulder, trying to move her hand. (00:44:50)
Continuity mistake: When K finds the metal case in Sapper Morton's piano, after closing the piano lid, he is holding the case in his hands, with two fingers on his right hand pressed against the side of it. The shot cuts to another angle, where the two fingers on his right hand are now suddenly behind the case. (00:47:10)
Answer: Think of any manufacturing process. Samples of new products are frequently created and then immediately destroyed. Also, the new replicant would require processing, training, etc. It was simpler for him to just dispose of the test.
