Continuity mistake: In various scenes before Rachael Leigh Cook cuts her hair, it's very obvious she's got hair extensions in - there's a noticeable line where they join. Can't be that her character has them - she'd never bother artificially lengthening her hair.

Laney Boggs: Who the hell would nominate me?
Trivia: The real name of the high school seen in this 1999 film is Torrance High. Its campus was also used as the location for the exterior shots of Sunnydale High in Buffy The Vampire Slayer (seasons 1-3), which makes it a clever cameo by Sarah Michelle Gellar (mentioned in the other trivia entry).
Question: Sarah Michelle Gellar's cameo appearance in the cafeteria seems pretty random. Was she intended to have any more scenes, that were perhaps deleted from the final cut of the movie?

Answer: The appearance was a cameo only. It was not that random though, as the scene was shot at a location also used for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Sarah Michelle Gellar's husband appears in the movie.
